CH 4: Ascend in rank

Following through on what they said they would do, Paul left this morning with his trusty steed for the capital to try to hire a magic master.

According to Paul, he would start teaching me when he returned.

And that gave me time to prepare for some things, like the fact that it's about time I leveled up or rather ranked up, of course it wasn't going to be today, but before the week ends I think I'll be able to rank up without any problem.

So like any cultivator I've been meditating as much as I can without raising suspicions about my strange behavior.

On the other hand, I could also think that my hasty idea of wanting my teacher Loli was not entirely bad and although Roxy doesn't become my teacher I wouldn't be upset about it.

Since in addition to helping me avoid questions about my greater knowledge of magic, it will also allow me to learn more about the magic of this world and being taught by someone else most of the time gives you a better perspective on what you are studying.

Of course, I still think that what I learn with the Grimoire is much better than what anyone in this world can teach me, but on the other hand it is magic from another world, I wouldn't know how to explain how I know so much about magic and I don't want to talk about my grimoire, at least not for now that I am very weak.

So it wasn't a bad idea after all, although I still prefer Roxy to be my teacher.

"Well, I'd better concentrate on this since I want to rank up before my teacher arrives" - I murmured as I focused my attention completely on increasing the density of my mana.

As I said, for a while now I have been able to increase my range, but since I had decided that I wanted to improve the density of my mana, it "decreased" its amount, what I am looking for is to reach a point where I can no longer increase the density of my mana.

Technically speaking, that shouldn't be possible, but supposedly my body has a limit of how much mana it can withstand, this rank up is not only to increase the amount of mana, but also to release some limiters of my body that will allow me to store up to 10 times more mana than before.

Or well, at least that's how the Grimoire explained it, and yes, my body is not like that of the humans in that world, but it's not a lie when I say that I really feel that my body is reaching some limit of how much I can increase the density of my mana.

I mean, it was really a feeling like a crack as cultivators explain when they feel their cultivation rank up.

I quickly conjured a mirror made of ice magic and could see myself well, externally I didn't change practically anything, although you could say that I became a little more radiant if I had to put it in one words, especially my eyes that practically shine.

"Well, they're literally shining..." - I murmured again as I focused my attention completely on my bright eyes, it was like the eyes of Solo Leveling, my eyes shone with a certain blue light reflection.

This was of course due to my new ability [mana vision] something that I could obtain by entering the rank of mage, this along with the ability of [low magic resistance].

Instinctively I decreased the mana that flowed to my eyes and they decreased the brightness in them, but they still maintained a certain brightness, but nothing too striking as before.

Then after satisfying my curiosity about my new changes, I quickly took out my grimoire.

When I did so it floated in the air and flipped through pages rapidly until it reached one that said introduction to the rank of Mage.

This should show me a little of what I should and could do as I already said.

In principle it seems that now I could theoretically launch pure mana without the need to use an element in between, it's a good thing, since I could cast a spell like Mana Bullet or take something from an anime like the Rasengan.

'if that would be good' - I thought nodding at my thought, I can already see myself using a Rasengan on an enemy and sending him flying, I could also make a rasen-shuriken.

Shaking my head quickly I put those thoughts aside for now, I'd better focus on the now instead of staying in my thoughts about the future.

Now following what I have to do, well, it seems that I have to choose a specialty to focus on to learn...

"Mmmm" - That got me thinking, I mean, I didn't even know what I wanted to focus on I've been so busy learning magic that it never occurred to me.

I mean, I could choose all of them, but that would be more counterproductive than beneficial, it would only make me lag behind in my learning...

'Well, I have time to think' - I thought, I still have time to decide why well, I still have a lot to read and learn now that I am at the rank of wizard.

'Well, whatever, I'll choose later' - I sighed as I shook my head, then I got up from my seat and stretched as I had been sitting there for too long.

Well, my teacher is supposed to come tomorrow and fortunately, it's Roxy... You don't know the sigh of relief I let out when I read her name in the letter she sent.

Really despite everything, I was worried that someone else would end up accepting the job of teaching me magic.

But well, now I know that it's Roxy who will teach me I have nothing to worry about anymore, now I know that I will learn magic from an excellent mage and I can also learn the language of the demons with her, who knows when I will need it.

'Well, now to take a bath' - I thought as I headed to take a bath, and doing so made me think of the day when I won't need to hide my magic skills so much.

'Soon, soon' - I thought as I could see a hot water shower in front of me.

I'm not going to lie, I actually thought about using another character to be her teacher, but in the end, I decided to follow the canon and I plan to continue doing so for at least the first 10 years of her life.
