Broken Pieces Part 2

"Calder, Calder think about the time you met Esai. Think about anything else! Don't listen to her voice!" Landis called out but Calder could only hear a whispers. A thick fog started to enter his mind as he tried his best to listen to what Landis tried to tell him. "Calder." The woman called out in a loud, sing song voice. "Who are you?!" Calder shouted into the fog. "Calder, do you still think you're not special?" She asked as a cold chill started to swirl around Calder.

"No I am not!" Calder shouted into the fog. "Are you trying to runaway from your destiny Calder? Are you trying to turn yourself into a coward?" She asked as her voice stayed perfectly calm. "Run away? I am not running away! I wouldn't run away from something important but I am not who you think I am!" Calder shouted. "I know exactly who you are. You are the one I-?!" The woman said then stopped.

The fog quickly started to turn into water droplets and Calder stood right in the middle. "No!" The woman hissed. Then the water droplets dropped to the floor instantly. The area was dark and the cold air that Calder felt was gone. "Calder?" A voice called out as a small star appeared. "Calder?" The voice called out again. "Esai?" Calder called out as his eyelashes fluttered. "oh thank G*d." Esai said with a deep sigh of relief.

Calder looked around with his eyes and instantly smiled. "Rutley." He said happily but Rutley looked like sh*t. "Hey." Rutley said in return. "Calder tried to sit up but felt a great amount of pain in his chest so he winced. "What the hell hit me?! A train?" He hissed. Rutley removed his hand and smiled. "Kind of." He replied as Landis moved in quickly and opened his white dress shirt. Esai stared at Calder as Landis looked over his body.

"Esai you can't remove Rutley." Landis said as he quickly started to dig through his medical bag. "... I don't like it but there's no other choice." Esai said as he sat back down on the sofa. "What did Rutley do? Why do I feel like crap and what, what the hell happened to my chest?!" Calder shouted as he pointed to a weird burn mark on his skin. It looked so tender and raw that any strain against it would rupture the skin. Landis then dabbed a cotton swab dripping in light green liquid onto the wound.

"Ugh, I don't know what's worse the smell of what you're using or the burn on my chest." Calder complained. "It's not a burn." Esai said as he watched the doctor work. "It's my power." Rutley then answered. "Right, right, right... Your power. I thought you were just an assassin that lurked in the shadows. When the hell did you have magic?!" Calder shouted. Rutley's jaw dropped, he never seen Calder freak out so much.

"Calder, Rutley is a special type of human that is tied to a black magic that can disrupt that woman's hypnotic spell on you." Esai said with a heavy sigh. "That woman? Who is that woman and what spell? I don't know about any spell and how can Rutley have black magic? Magic does not exist in this world! Mei never wrote anything about magic!" Calder shouted. "Calder this is not the book that MEI WROTE!" Esai snapped.

Calder shut his mouth then closed his eyes. "Ya I know... I figured out that this places isn't the same." Calder admitted. "Calder." Esai called out. "No Esai I need to let go of my delusions and face reality. I am not Taki anymore, this is not a novel and I maybe the ending will be different too. Maybe I'm just really paranoid." Calder said as Landis finished patching him up.

"Ending? What ending?" Esai asked. Calder froze, his eyes rounded as he trembled. "I never told him everything." Calder thought as he broke out into a cold sweat. "Calder?" Esai called out. Calder slowly brought up his gaze and said nothing. "What ending." Esai demanded in an even toned voice but Calder said nothing. "Rutley go to the library and look for the book." Esai commanded.

"What are you doing?" Calder asked. "Which one your Majesty?" Rutley asked as Esai ignored Calder. "The one title 'The Little Black Sheep' by Red." Esai said coldly. Rutley left the room and Calder noticed that he was limping badly. "Esai, Rutley needs medical attention. You shouldn't send him to go get a book." Calder said with concerned face.

"Then tell me what the ending is Calder." Esai demanded. Calder pursed his lips and glared at Esai. "Fine be that way, but I will get my answer soon enough." Esai said as he leaned back. "With a book called.... oh sh*t!" Calder cursed as he got up from the floor. "That's right baby brother. You wrote your whole life in a book." Esai said with an evil smirk. "No!" Calder shouted then tried to run after Rutley but Esai was faster and grabbed his wrist.

"What are you trying to hide?" Esai asked in a cold tone but Calder shook him off with ease. "Sorry brother but that is one thing I can never let you know." Calder said then raced off. "Sh*t!" Esai shouted but Calder kept running. "Sorry Esai." Calder mumbled to himself as he raced down the corridors.

To Calder's relief Rutley was too hurt and couldn't make it very far. "Sorry Rutley." Calder shouted as he ran past. Rutley tilted his head in confusion then realized who had run past him. "Calder!" Rutley shouted but Calder just kept running. His heart thundering against his chest as his feet hit the ground. He could feel his lungs burning as he ran and felt something oozing down his chest but he didn't stop running.

The library was a massive building just south of the palace and he hoped he was faster than Esai's men. Luckily Calder was able to make it to the building before they arrived. He threw open the doors and heaved in giant gulps of air. The librarian looked stunned at Calder's appearance but he quickly bowed to him. "Your highness." He said as Calder approached the desk. "Did anyone else show up? More importantly my broth-his Majesty's men?" Calder asked desperately.
