Chapter 19: Searching for Land
"It seems there is a piece of land that is utterly useless."
I feel like they're talking about me for some reason. Nevertheless, if Count Cleara has let it go, it's a chance for me to own it.
It seems to be in pretty bad shape, though. Will it be okay?
Since it's land, it will require money, but if it's troublesome to use, it will cost even more.
That's probably why the count let it go.
Now, what should I do? It's clear that the count owns other lands that would be difficult for me to obtain.
On the other hand, the land I was introduced to might be difficult to utilize or judge.
"Franz-sama, what will you do? If there's land available, I think it's a good opportunity."
"I see, Sue wants to purchase it, huh?"
"Yes, I will definitely assist you as well!"
With Sue's offer to help, I was encouraged and decided that I wanted to make the purchase.
The problem is money.
I don't have much money, so that's an issue.
Because I lack money, I came here for advice, as I wanted to know the approximate price of the land.
"In that case, receptionist, I would like to purchase the land. Since I don't have enough money right now, can we arrange a payment plan?"
"Oh no, no payment is necessary."
It was a completely unexpected answer.
Not necessary?
Normally, you would need money for land, and if it were free, anyone would want it.
Even adventurers who have been taking on requests for years, going into dungeons and struggling, finally buy a small house.
Adventurers who own big houses are a selected few, usually ranked A or higher.
Most adventurers only have enough money to get by, and I learned that as a member of the hero party.
"Not necessary?"
"Yes, it's considered a completely unusable piece of land by Count Cleara, impossible to develop, and with no use whatsoever. It has been left untouched for decades. So you can purchase it for free. However, please be aware that it is in a neglected state, and it will require money and manpower to make it usable. If you're fine with those conditions, Franz, I will sell it to you for free. As for taxes..."
"I will purchase it for free."
It turned out to be an even worse piece of land than expected, and they didn't require any money for it.
With that, my decision to purchase it was made. I hope everything will be fine.
