Even the princess didn't receive such pampering, Henry thought as he succumbed to the second hour of Ingrid's treatment.
He had figured a bath and a shave was enough to look presentable but the moment he stepped out of the bath with only a towel around his waist, he was bombarded by Ingrid along with another maid she had recruited for help. They threw Henry into a bathrobe and made him sit in a chair so they could reach him.
They wouldn't let him shave himself, insisting he wouldn't do it well enough on his own. His hair was even done with a bit of something unknown that smelled herbal and almost piney. It helped his hair remain swept back and away from his face.
"Don't touch it," Ingrid had told him. "You always touch your hair when you're uncomfortable. And you're certainly going to find yourself in uncomfortable situations tonight."
