Chapter 58 : Learning About The History Of The World ( part 1 )

Wang Qian and Bai Lian, who was on his shoulder, followed after Bing Tian who was leading the way. They passed through multiple rivers and caves before stopping at a place where some trees was cut off. Bing Tian then sat on one of the tree stump as a set of tea cups appeared. 

"Why aren't you guys sitting down?" she asked while smiling at them. Hearing her words, Wang Qian place Bai Lian on the tree stump as he sat next to her.

"Now then, can you tell me how did you become the Queen of The Night?" Bing Tian asked Bai Lian. Bai Lian placed her finger on her chin as she ponder before saying.

"It was on a full moon that my body changed. Papa and I were going sightseeing when I felt a little uncomfortable. Later on, my body gave off white light and then I changed." Bai Lian said.

"Hmm, that's interesting. Would you like to know how I became the Queen of frost and coldness?" Bing Tian asked with a smile on her face.

"I do, if you would tell us." Wang Qian said

"Very well, I used to be an adventurer like you two. But one day, I encountered a cave in the far northlands. The cave was very cold and had icicles in it, and inside sat a woman. The woman was the previous Queen of frost and coldness." Bing Tian said. She then stopped for a while as she took a sip of the tea she made before continuing to talk.

"She asked if I wanted to take over her position. At that time, I didn't know the consequences of becoming a ruler over something. So, I gladly accepted it. The previous queen then smiled at me before turning into a blue light and entered my body. This, was something that happened a few centuries ago." she said calmly as she dropped a bomb for Wang Qian and Bai Lian.

"A few centuries ago? Aren't you a human? How are you able to live that long?" Wang Qian asked a series of question in one go as he stood up. Bai Lian who was at his side also looked at Bing Tian curiously. Bing Tian looked like she was only 20 years old to Bai Lian, so she was very interested in how Bing Tian was able to do it.

"You're being a little too impatient. Sit down and I'll explain slowly." Bing Tian said as she took another sip. Hearing her words, Wang Qian realized he was being impolite as he took a breath and sat back down.

"Sorry." he apologized

"It's okay. Now, to answer your question. Yes, I was a human, but I changed race after becoming the Queen of frost and coldness. You see, we rulers are in a sense an immortal. Our strength depends on the authority we have, and our live is also connected to the item or things corresponding to our authority."

"In our territory, we are basically like gods. No one can defeat us, not even other rulers. Their authority will be suppressed once entering the territory of others."

"But I feel okay, sister Bing Tian." Bai Lian said suddenly.

"That's because the forest is only my territory in name. It belongs to the King of Forests, an old friend of mine."

"Well, you said something about having consequences. But from what you said, everything is basically like a dream. Having unparalleled strength, being an immortal and others, isn't that good?" Wang Qian asked.

"Now that is something you have missed. We our immortals, correct, but it doesn't mean our family and friends are. Rulers aren't like a job you can find easily, each planet only has a few rulers. So, it is totally impossible for everyone you hold dear to become one."

Hearing her words, Wang Qian became silent. Indeed, he was only focusing on the good side of a thing and forgotten that it has a bad side. It was then that Bai Lian suddenly spoke.

"Doesn't that mean papa will leave me one day?"

"Don't worry, I won't. I still have a long life to live." Wang Qian reassured Bai Lian as he patted her head. Seeing this, Bing Tian smiled slightly.

"Your lucky you have your loved one able to stay with you, little girl. Now, I've finished my part. Is there anything you two would like to ask?"

"I have. You said something about every planet having a limited amount of rulers, does that mean it is confirmed that there is life outside of this planet?" Wang Qian asked

"Of course there is. In the vast universe, there are multiple galaxy which contains lots of planet. It is impossible for there to only have one planet in the entire galaxy, let alone the universe." 

"I see, then can you tell me what exactly is a ruler?"

"You've finally asked the main point. Rulers, like what the name says, rules over something. A ruler is like a kingdom itself, and multiple kingdom together form an empire. Now, with that much of empires in the entire universe, do you think there isn't one emperor who is greedy and wants to expand his authority?"

"What you're saying is, that rulers are like a protector of a planet?" Wang Qian said in surprise as he realized what was Bing Tian signaling at.

"Correct."

"Doesn't that mean Bai Lian will have to fight other lifeforms from other planets? I won't allow that, it's too dangerous for her." Wang Qian said as his emotions become unstable

"Then let me give you a solution, either you or her become a god." Bing Tian said as she calmed down Wang Qian.

".....a what?' Wang Qian asked as he looked at her as if Bing Tian was an idiot.

"You didn't heard me wrong. I did say become a god. There are two ways to become one, you become a ruler and expand your authority. Once strong enough, you'll turn into a god eventually. The other method is many times harder, you reach the pinnacle in a certain field and comprehend your own law, thus improving and evolving yourself."

"If so, how does a god help in not fighting against other lifeforms?" Wang Qian asked

"Then can you both try to guess how many gods are there in the entire universe right now?"

Hearing her words, Wang Qian and Bai Lian pondered over the question. Bai Lian gave up thinking as she simply gave a random answer.

"100?" 

"Wrong. There is only 4. 4 gods in the entire universe." Bing Tian then dropped a bigger bomb this time. Wang Qian didn't made a big fuss over it this time as he waited for Bing Tian to continue explain.

"Becoming a god is insanely hard. The 4 gods right now rule over the rulers on their planet and stayed there. A long time ago, an arrogant ruler decided to challenge the authority of a god. He then brought along the other rulers as they attacked the god's planet. But before they could get close to the planet, the god residing in it simply made a crushing act as the rulers died. Later on, it was found out not only did the rulers died, their planet was also destroyed."

"Now, do you know why becoming a god can stop other lifeforms from attacking their planet?"
