Chapter 57 : Incoming Beast Tide ( part 3 )

The weird scene of everyone looking at Bai Lian didn't continue on as someone noticed soil flying in the air again. This signaled that monster appeared again and is closing in. The city lord regain his composure as he commanded the people.

"Everyone get ready, the monsters are here again. The monsters are also invisible this time so go grab a torch and burn the monsters. Am I clear?" 

"Clear."

All the adventurers and soldiers then grabbed a torch as they rushed onto the battlefield. The held their torch on the front as the fire revealed the outline of the monsters. They quickly used their weapons on the monsters, killing multiple of it.

Seeing this, the B-rank adventurers started to make their move as they dashed in. They killed a large amount of monsters right after entering the battlefield, increasing the morale within the group of people.

"Looks like we should start moving now. Are you ready, Bai Lian?" Wang Qian asked.

"I'm ready." Bai Lian replied. Wang Qian then carried her as he ran into the battlefield, heading towards the forest. He quickly reached the edge of the forest as he jumped onto one of the trees. The two then looked around, seeing if there was any monsters that found them.

After checking there wasn't any, Wang Qian continued to carry Bai Lian around as they entered deeper into the forest. It was at this time, that they noticed there was lesser monsters the deeper they go. The surrounding area also got colder every second, as if a blizzard was coming. 

Wang Qian slowed down as he tried to find out the reason behind the coldness in the forest. Bai Lian helped him by condensing a small [ Flame Ball ], warming the two up. Unable to find the reason, Wang Qian decided to move forward, albeit at a slower pace.

"Are you cold, Bai Lian?" He asked. Bai Lian shook her head to reply. Seeing this, Wang Qian continued to head forward. It was then that abnormal things started to happen. The forest which was suppose to be warm and filled with rays of light started snowing. 

Wang Qian stopped moving as he placed Bai Lian down. Wang Qian and Bai Lian then looked around them to see if any monster was near them. Bai Lian also condensed a giant [ Flame Ball ] on top of them, warming their bodies and allowing them to fight better.

Soon, a figure appeared. Wang Qian squinted his eyes to see the appearance of the figure. The figure was actually a woman, she seemed to be wearing a dress.

"A woman? Moreover she is wearing a dress? Something's off." Wang Qian said.

'In this cold place where snow started to appear, she is there wearing a dress and walking towards us? It's already weird that there is someone here but she is just coming over and she isn't trembling over the cold to add.' Wang Qian thought. He quickly stood in front of Bai Lian to prevent her from getting attacked.

The woman quickly got close to them. It was then that the two notice that the surrounding temperature seems to have dropped a lot.

"Who are you?" Wang Qian asked. The woman looked at his eyes as her voice sounded.

"The queen of this forest. Who are you two then?"

"Adventurers from the nearby city." Wang Qian replied

"Was it you who caused the beast tide to start and the reason why it started snowing?" Wang Qian asked warily.

"Correct." The woman replied to the question. She then stopped talking as she took a deep breath

"Now, tell me which one of you is the ruler of the moon?" The woman asked suddenly.

"Ruler of the moon? What's that?" Wang Qian asked.

"A person who rules over everything of the moon. So, answer me. Which one of you two is the ruler of the moon?"

"Are you talking about me?" Bai Lian asked while tilting her head from the side of Wang Qian. The woman looked over to Bai Lian as she started to assess her. 

"Bai Lian! What are you doing?" Wang Qian said worriedly

"So the ruler is a queen eh... then let me welcome the arrival of a queen into my forest." The woman said

"Queen? Does that mean I'm a queen?" Bai Lian asked

"You are." The woman replied with a kind smile on her face.

"Hooray, I'm a queen. I'm a queen, papa!" Bai Lian celebrated happily without a care for the situation. Wang Qian was confused at the situation as he thought that the woman was going to attack them. But he didn't put his guard down despite the woman being kind to them.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you two."

"Then can you make it stop snowing first?" Wang Qian said. Hearing his words, the woman swinged her arm as the snow started to stop falling. The snow which was on the ground started to melt as sunlight reappeared, returning the warmth to the forest. 

"Done. What else do you want me to remove?" The woman asked.

"No more."

"Good, then let me introduce myself again. I'm Bing Tian ( Frozen heaven i guess ), the queen of frost and coldness. What are your names?"

"I'm Wang Qian, the demon lord. She's Bai Lian, my daughter and also the queen of the night." Wang Qian said as he introduced Bai Lian and himself

"Queen of the night? That is unexpected, I thought her authority are fixed to the moon only. Who knew she ruled over the dark sky.... Putting that aside, can I ask why are both of you in this forest?" 

"We.. came to find out the reason behind the beast tide that is happening."

"Oh, I see. It might have been my fault as I've accidentally released my power after sensing the presence of a ruler nearby. It'll be fine though, I'll call the monsters back. In the meantime, would you like to have some tea while we talk?" Bing Tian suggested

"But I'm afraid that the monsters will hurt the others who are fighting." Wang Qian said his worries

"Don't worry. I've already called them back. All of them should be leaving the battlefield right now. You don't need to worry." Bing Tian said to reassure him. Wang Qian hesitated a while before deciding to trust her words.

"Very well then. Where are we going now?" Wang Qian asked.

"Follow me." 

Bing Tian then walked back to the direction she came from. Wang Qian carried Bai Lian on his shoulder as he followed her.

Back at the battlefield, everyone was giving their all in overcoming the beast tide. The city lord also didn't stay idle as he commanded the situation back at the base. Lots of soldiers and adventures was being sent back as they got some serious injuries. It was just then, a soldier came to report to the city lord.

"Reporting to city lord, the monsters are retreating back to the forest."

"That's good. It must have mean that the number of monster killed has reach a number where they need a long time to recuperate."

"The situation isn't like that my lord. The monster retreated all of a sudden just when their numbers are still high, the reason behind it is unknown. We've already sent people in to the forest to find the reason, but no results are sent back yet."

'That's weird, could it be that the B-rank adventurers made some move?' The city lord thought.

"Go and check which B-rank adventurer isn't here."

"Understood. Your orders will be relayed to the others."

The city lord then placed his hand on his chin as he try to guess the reason behind the sudden retreat of the monsters...
