Chapter 44 : The Battle ( part 2 )

After they heard Wang Qian's words, all of them tensed up again. Hua Yue quickly commanded the people outside to come back and have a rest. They all ran back at their full speed just so they could be at a better state in case the reinforcements come. Wang Qian then turned towards Bai Lian and asked

"Are you okay? Should I send you back into the city first" he said as he squat down in front of her

"I'm okay, papa. I'm just a little tired after using lots of mana"

"I see. Well, you rest here first. When you recovered, you can go help heal the others who are injured if you want."

"Okay."

All of them were in the base recuperating, Bai Lian also came to help heal the injured. Soon, all of them recovered most of their energy and were ready to go back into the battle. Seeing this, Wang Qian started talking

"I'm very happy to know that none of our comrades died, but the time to celebrate has yet to come. The reinforcement of the royal palace's army is coming, we would be deploying the same strategy. But this time, I'll be placing a curse on all of them, that way we can save more energy and lessen our casualties. For now, the people who are skilled in close combat can rest at the back while mages can start preparing your spells again. I know that you guys have used a lot of mana just now so just take it slow."

"Understood!" they all said

It was then that Bai Lian came to his side after healing all of them. The two went to a place where there's less people as they sat down together and rest. Bai Lian was sleeping on Wang Qian's lap while Wang Qian is sitting cross-legged meditating. Soon, Hua Yue contacted him.

'My lord, the royal palace's reinforcements has come. They seem to be stronger than the previous army we defeated, although having lesser numbers.'

'Tell all of them to get ready, and ask the mages to aim their spells at the middle of the reinforcements. They will fire their spells after I cursed the reinforcement'

'Understood. I will relay my lord's order now'

Wang Qian then stopped meditating. He looked towards Bai Lian who was sleeping soundly before rubbing her head softly while waking her up.

"Bai Lian, wake up now. The reinforcements have come"

"mhmm, okay" she said. She opened her eyes as she sat up. Wang Qian then stood up as he carried Bai Lian and walked towards Hua Yue. He then turned towards his believers who were standing neatly in lines and said.

"I hope you all still remember our plan. I'll be cursing our enemies first, the mages will then fire their spells. Only after the zombies appeared, you guys can rush in. Understand."

"Understood!"

"Good. Now mages, aim!"

The mages raised their hands towards the sky, getting ready to fire their spells as soon as they order was given. Wang Qian, who was at the front, look towards the enemy before using [ Dark Curse ] on all of them. The next second, around one-tenth of his mana was used as a curse landed on all the soldiers of the enemies army.

"Fire!" he shouted

The mages fired their spells. The spells successfully reached the top and was about to land on the soldiers. Just then, a barrier appeared and blocked the attacks. It blocked the attacks of almost of them before breaking, leaving only two attacks that managed to hit. 

Wang Qian immediately possessed the ones who died. The possessed ones turned into zombies as they started attacking their comrades. This attack seem effective but the next second, they started burning the zombies. Although they are still people dying, it is not much. Soon, there was no body left to possess for Wang Qian.

"Change of plans. Mages, quickly use your spell that can be used instantly!"

The mages quickly fired their arrow or ball spell. Bai Lian, who was already put down, raised on her hand as she condensed 10 [ Light Ray ] and shot it towards the enemies, using it like a laser. Her attacks were very effective as lots of the soldiers died. 

Wang Qian's mana quickly possessed them, turning them into zombies. Thankfully, this time the people didn't have any time to react as they never expect an attack like that. The zombies were able to kill off a few, increasing the people on his side.

"You guys can rush in now, but stay cautious." 

Wang Qian said to the people who are skilled in close combat. He then focus back on the battle field, looking for the enemies weakness for exploiting. Bai Lian continued to condense [ Light Rays ] and shot them towards the enemies, culling their number and increasing people on their side. 

Soon, the royal palace's reinforcements found a way to defend against Bai Lian's attack as a few mages worked together to build a barrier surrounding the army. Although it broke easily under Bai Lian's attack, they were able to make a new one quickly. 

This gave the others some time to kill the zombies. It wasn't before long that Wang Qian's side went back to square one. 

'Isn't this a bit too defensive? If this goes on, we'll definitely lose... I'll need to find a way to kill their mages first.' he thought

Wang Qian then used [ Dark Curse ] again on the whole army, but this time he focused more mana on the mages. This cause the barrier created by them to weaken a lot, thus allowing Bai Lian's [ Light Rays ] to kill a few and letting Wang Qian possess the dead ones. He immediately devised a plan using this as a basis.

'Hua Yue, ask the mages to attack the enemies barrier. Don't use skills that require a lot of mana, just those that can be recovered in a instant.'

'Understood'

Hua Yue then gave the order to the mages. They fired the basic spell like [ Water Ball ] , [ Flame Arrow ] and others towards the barrier. Due to the mages being weaken by a lot, the barrier crumbled quickly under the attack of the mages on Wang Qian's side, letting Bai Lian's attack to land without any interference. 

The enemies immediately knew that their current strategy is no longer effective as the stop creating the barrier and focus on sending attack through the air towards Wang Qian's camp. Seeing this, Hua Yue immediately ordered the people with shields to cover for others. Thankfully, they were able to react in time as no one got hurt.

But the enemies attack were relentless, not giving any chance for the mages on Wang Qian side to attack. Wang Qian then turned towards Bai Lian and asked.

"I'm sorry to ask you to do this, but can you condense the giant [ Flame Ball ] again, Bai Lian? It doesn't have to be very big, just the size of one floor is enough."

"It's okay, papa. But I'll need 3 minutes to get the spell ready."

"Don't worry, I'll always protect you."

Bai Lian then closed her eyes to cast the spell, while her hands raised high as usual. Wang Qian stood at her side, protecting her while looking for chances to use. There is no more [ Light Rays ] shot towards the enemies due to Bai Lian focusing on a different spell. So they had to be ready for any chance to exploit.

As the enemy fired the spells over to them and walked slowly towards them, Wang Qian's believers were unable to do anything. Hua Yue was gritting her teeth while trying to find a way out of the situation. It was then that Wang Qian contacted her.

'Ask all the people who are skilled in close combat to get ready. The moment Bai Lian's attack lands, they will all rush in and kill as many as they can before coming back'

'Understood'

Hua Yue then relayed his orders to the others. They all wait patiently for the timing, just to take the enemy in front of them down.

"It's ready, papa."

"Okay, fire it now!"

The next second, a giant [ Flame Ball ] condensed as it was shot towards the middle of the enemies army. Hua Yue and the others immediately got ready. As soon as they heard the loud boom, they all rush in and kill all of the soldiers they could see. The mages also fired spells from the behind, increasing their firepower. 

Soon, the enemy was left with 10 people. These 10 people were clad in a different kind of armor compared to the other. They quickly got together and defended themselves from the attacks of the believers. Wang Qian then again used [ Dark Curse ] on them, giving a chance for his people to sneak attack them. 

They quickly died under the constant attacks. But this time, Wang Qian's believers didn't celebrate immediately as they turned towards Wang Qian. It was then that Wang Qian nodded and said.

"We've won the battle."

"YES!!!" All of them celebrated loudly.

Wang Qian then towards the system's message as he checked one more time.

[ DETECTED THAT THE HOST HAS COMPLETED SIDE QUEST : BATTLE WITH ROYAL PALACE (1) ]

[ THE REWARDS WILL NOW BE GIVEN TO THE HOST ]

"It has finally end huh.."

"Does that mean we can go home now, papa?"

"Yup, we can." he replied to Bai Lian as he patted her head.

Just like that, Wang Qian has won the first battle after reincarnating in to this world.
