When I saw an old lady beating up a poor boy, rage filled me.

It reminded me of my dark past. I quickly ran towards the old lady and I tightly grabbed the broom that she was about to hit the boy with.

I glared at her and she backed down.

I looked down at the boy who seemed to be no older than 8 years old, shivering, and groaning in pain. Right when I was about to carry the little boy to the Holy Church to heal him, I saw a young boy of about 16 years old, squat down next to the boy.

I looked at him curiously.

I saw black mana seeping into the young boy's wound and I couldn't help but call out to the young man.

"Hey," I said but was surprised when he ignored me. He just concentrated on the boy.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

The young boy turned his head towards me with an annoyed expression.

My breath got stuck in my throat.

The young boy had dark black hair and golden eyes. He had white skin was was wearing black clothing. On both of his ears were a pair of gold dangling earrings that shimmered in the sun which made him look cuter. He looked like a little kitten to me, cute but ferocious.

He turned his head back towards the injured boy and said, "Healing him."

I nodded and watched as the young boy's wounds begun to heal.

Afterward, we watched as the now healthy and healed boy ran off to his home.

We stood there together for a moment before the young boy walked away.

"What's your name?" I called out to him, grabbing his hand to stop him.

The young boy turned around, and my eyes widened in shock when I saw his grey eyes.

Wasn't his eyes golden? Was it because he was using mana that his eye color change? I wondered.

The young boy said, "Kai."

What a beautiful name, I thought.

I gave him a grin and said, "The name is Greyscale."

All of a sudden, the wind blew my hood off, which startled me. I quickly put my hood back on and ran away.

Yes, I ran away. I did not want him to see my face because for some weird reason I did not want him to know me simply as the son of the Archduke, the cold-blooded villain but as the real me.

I did not want to imagine him looking at me with eyes of hatred and fear like all those around me do.

I did not give a single glace back even though I desperately wanted to for fear that his expression would be that of disgust.

After a few minutes, I couldn't get him out of my head. I decided to find him again and was surprised when I saw him in the same place.

He stood there with a blank look and I felt my heart tremble with pain. Did my appearance disgust him that much?

Kai began to walk again and I unconsciously followed him. I trailed him for about 3 hours until the sun was beginning to set.

All of a sudden, I saw him enter a dark alley.

That's dangerous, I thought.

There were 6 thugs surround him and I felt a rise of rage.

How dare they!

I quickly shot a lightning bolt at one of the guys and as he collapsed onto the ground, I jumped down from the building and unsheathed my sword, encasing it with fire and lightning mana.

After a few seconds, all of them were on the floor, defeated and I turned back towards Kai and smirked.

"Hey."

My eyes lit up in silent laughter when I saw his surprised face.

"How...?"

I lied indifferently, "I was just in the area."

He stared at me in shock and I couldn't help but tease him.

"Is this fate? This is our second time meeting today." I grinned a sexy smile.

Kai's face grew red and soon it was as red as a tomato.

So cute...

"It's not safe. I'll send you home."

He nodded at me and I escorted him home.

I was a little surprised when we arrived at the Holy Church.

"Is this your home?"

Kai nodded. "Yes, I will be staying here for another week before I start school at Thornclaw Royal Academy."

"What a coincidence! I am a second year."

Kai looked at me with big eyes.

"Really?!" He asked, excitedly.

"Yes, I hope to see you there." I smiled a genuine smile.

Just who was this boy?

When I am in front of him, I feel as if I can show my self, my true emotions.

"Um..." Kai said.

I looked at him. What did he want to tell me?

"Are-are we friends now?!" He blurted out, his face pink.

I smiled at him. "Of course we are." I tried to keep my face as expressionless as possible. He was my first true friend, but no way in hell was I going to tell him that.

Kai nodded and ran inside the Holy Church, turning back to wave at me with a smile.

What an interesting boy, I thought.

I bit my lip as I saw him about to enter the gates and I couldn't help but shout, "Do you want me tomorrow, at the market, the same place where we first met?"

Kai smiled a radiant smiled and said, "Sure!"
