{Time Skip to Naruto Age 8}

He in the academy, he was becoming a ninja. The other people in his class seemed to glare less than the adults, so that was a plus. There were a few notable people in the class, a raven haired boy who had an air of arrogance and superiority, a shy girl with pale eyes, a girl with a large forehead and pink hair that seemed to stare at the raven haired boy. A blonde girl who seemed to be spoiled and also stared at the black haired boy, a stoic boy with glasses, a pineapple haired boy who was reclining in his chair and a rather chubby boy. There was a boy with weird face markings who looked almost dog like, and many other boring kids who seemed to be from civilian families based on their clothing. They were introduced to the teacher for their class, Umino Iruka. They only use one teacher for the whole four years so as to keep advancing and not do much review work.

Naruto only ever brought a large jug water and some old kunais he found laying around the forest. The academy provided kunai and shuriken, but it never hurt to bring extra protection. No one had ever noticed that the water in his large jug moving based on Naruto's emotion. Namely because of the fact that Naruto never cared for the academy lessons, he wanted to learn techniques, or jutsus as they called them, not listen to history. He only cared about the chakra lessons and the sparring. In terms of grades, he did poorly on the academic portion of the exams, but he was always top 5 of the physical portion of the exams. In fact, during sparring, he only ever lost to the raven haired boy, Sasuke Uchiha. He was horrendus at the bunshin(clone jutsu) and the henge(Transformation jutsu), which were the highest graded portion of their ranks. So, no matter how good he was on the battlefield, he was the worst in the eyes of the students, and the administrators.

Naruto didn't know that this was a blessing in disguise, since if the demon got too powerful in the eyes of the council, he would be put down. Nevertheless, he tried with everything he had to pass, even spending long hours into the night doing the leaf sticking exercise or other practice.
