Kristine's Emotions

First thing in the morning I did was to rush to the detainment center where Kristine was held at. All of my classmates from other world were there and all were shocked especially James and Jennie.

Jennie was arguing with the guard that there had to be some mistake and that it was a set-up but Rosaline confirmed that despite the victim provoking Kristine, her reaction was completely unwarranted. From what she told me, there were talks about marriages and how no one would want me because I was only one in the summoned ones without ability to use basic magic. This insult did not warrant an attack of such scale. With how she used her weapon, she had the intention of murdering the victim who barely survived the attack.

I can never forgive her actions but... I don't want to make decision too quickly either. This world has magic so it would not be farfetched to think that curses exist too. What if she was cursed to react in such an explosive manner?

I walked past the guard entering the room. Kristine saw me and rushed to me and hugged me tightly.

"I missed you." She said as she tightened her grip on me but I pushed her away.

I checked her stats and absolutely nothing looked out of ordinary.

Barbara had earlier told me that effects also appear on stats screen. She is a healer so she often sees effects like poison, burning, freeze and such. Even curses appear on stats screen. If I can not see them then it means she is not cursed.

I'm so disappointed by her.

"Kristine, I hate you." I said before walking out. I could hear her wailing but I didn't want to turn back.

"I... I... d-did it for you..." The polearm appeared in Kristine's hand and she then shot it at the door. As if door was made out of thin cardboard, the polearm passed through it. She hoped over the broken door and rushed to Kenji but before she could do anything, she was set on fire.

Everyone looked at Kristine burning in pure horror and despair. Jennie ran towards her burning body but James held her back.

"Kids these days..." A woman walked over to Kristine and just sighed slowly.

But before she could burn to crisp, the flames disappeared shocking everyone including this unknown woman.

"Mere fire can not keep me away from you. I will protect you from any harm so don't leave me. I'll love you... until whenever." Kristine was completely unscathed from the attack.

This woman tried attacking Kristine but she was too strong for some reason. Spear of valedictory was shining golden.

I checked her stats and the spear had different passive now.

Awakened Passive: The attack and magic mastery will increase by 5 per 1 point loss in HP.

Wait?! I checked her stats.

Level: 4

HP: 45

Attack: 2525

Defense: 61

Stamina: 100

Magic Mastery: 895

No... this- this can't be. I checked everyone's stats and absolutely no one came close to her except this unknown woman.

She attacked Kristine and the battle that took place seemed on equal footing for now as they traded blows but this woman was level 40 while Kristine was only level 4.

"Disappear." Kristine swung her spear and it fired flames in shape of an eagle which the woman couldn't evade. She barely managed to hold her off but the other passive of this weapon was still in play. It can increase her- wait, no. It has already increased her attack stat by another 50%.

Her attack stat is sitting at almost 3,800. Almost twice as much as that woman. A really serious attack from Kristine could easily one-shot every single individual in this room.

Even if I did jump into the battle, I would only become a nuisance to this woman.

"I have no reason to fight any of you... I only care about Kenji." She spoke and started walking towards me but how could I allow her to come close to me? There was no curse. This was Kristine. This is her true self.

He is important... that's why he could become a target but I can't let that happen, now, can I? I have to protect him before it's too late. As his girlfriend, Kristine believed it to her duty and anyone who got in the way was treated as an hinderance. So, in order for him to be safe, she came to fine conclusion. She would create a godless world where the importance of an apostle would become non-existent and hence, he would become worthless in eyes of people. No one would come after him then.

Just as she was about to charge a massive attack, she was set Kristine on fire again but this time it was different. No matter how much she tried shaking it off, she just could not.

"That's Alice for you." The woman smiled.

"It's because this is not the steam reaction but it is burning reaction. Kristine had fire magic activated and Miss Alice used Nature magic. It is not only stronger but sticks around for as long as nature magic exists." Barbara filled me in with the information.

And before we knew, Kristine had fainted.

She was taken away by the unknown woman and some security guards.

What even happened to her? Even if we put aside the fact that we were dating, we knew each other even before that. No one would've expected her to become this way. I can't even comprehend her reasoning anymore.

"Kenji... Are you going to pursue her anymore?" Rosaline asked but I shook my head. Absolutely no way would I pursue anyone as violent as her. She is a threat to society and needs to be locked away for good.

Of course I'm not over her. It can't happen instantly. But it is necessary.

I'm not alone anymore. I have Rosaline and Barbara. And all those friends from the other world. Kristine's crimes are definitely a slap to the face of those who loved her endlessly and she needs to stay away.

Following that incident, we had a week off. All of us needed it but as we went back, we were introduced to a transfer student. She introduced herself as Leisha. A green haired girl with nature magic and coincidentally a bow user. She seemed nothing out-of-the-ordinary.

The classes went as usual and after the school day was over, Leisha approached me and bowed slightly.

"You must be Kenji, a summoned one, who defeated a holy knight. I know you must have an array of things to pay attention to but I want to ask you if you could let me join your team."

"Recently an incident occurred with one of the summoned ones. You see... I don't think I can trust an outsider just yet. Who knows what you would be up to. Even if you're exceptionally good at using bow, I can't simply trust you, now can I?" I responded before walking away.

She looked away disheartened but this is needed for now. If Kristine could turn on us like that then what can an outsider do...

"So, what are we going to do today?" Rosaline asked after we got back to my dorm.

"Go after more monsters. I want to unlock a 5/5 rare weapon. The best I have is offering blade. It is of good use but it is not the best."

I had been going on missions with Barbara and Rosaline for last one week to get my mind off Kristine.

Our stats were great for now.

New skills: Nature reaction: Burning

Sub-stat: Magic mastery: 102

Passive: The weapon has 50% chance to reset cooldown from magical abilities and it can occur once every 18 seconds.

Awakened passive: Upon doing reactions, the sword will take enemies' magic as an offering increasing the magic mastery by 60.

While my stats were impressive, so were Barbara's and Rosaline's too.

Barbara can now heal us of anything instantly and her healing now also does elemental damage to opponents while Rosaline had been putting her all into attack stat. She is the main damage dealer of the team and so far we never had a single problem but having an archer would definitely make things easier. While Barbara was also level 12, Rosaline was nearing level 20 already. Apparently making a pact means we will all share our experience which made things convenient for all of us.

We were on our mission to subdue an entire village of goblins. They were low level enemies ranging from level 1 to level 7. They were absolutely nothing for us and we managed to take them down rather easily and collect the material.

That's when Rosaline hit level 20 and we hit level 14. For some reason, her experience bar shows <Full> status and we had to find some flame crystals in order to level her up further. I checked the guide I was given by the gods and there it was. Flame crystals can be found near the boss level enemy named "Inferno Creeper". It was a plant like enemy that had a single weakness: Nature magic. According to this, the monster is at level 35 and anyone below level 30 is not recommended to confront it even in party of four.

Basically, we have to go there and find the crystals and run away without it noticing us.

"What about that Leisha? She has nature magic so how about we get her help and confront it?" Rosaline was excited because so far no one has defeated this boss.

"I can use all kinds of magic. No need to ask an outsider for help." I responded and sighed. "This will be a problem. So... next weekend, we will go and look around the place and see what we find."

For me, I checked my list and I needed crystals from all seven element bosses to go past level 20. This will be tiresome.

...

Another week passed and Leisha would not stop following us around. It was weekend so we had to leave on the journey to find whatever this boss was. It is going to be an interesting two day trip.
