Chapter 1 – Ordinary Beginning

It was night time, and the air was chilly and biting, but the moon was full, illuminating the asphalt below as if it were day. It was a clear night, Tom noted, and it made him feel strangely at ease, despite his predicament.

Just now, the college drinking party ended up being more exciting than he had ever imagined it would be. He meant...

"What the heck is this? Am I still drunk?" Tom muttered in a slur, shaking his head.

The scene before his eyes was impossible. He couldn't make heads or tails of it.

It looked like a scene from a fantasy world right out of those popular role-playing games. Or even a novel where a protagonist suddenly had a superpower.

Tom couldn't quite see it properly due to how bright the moonlight was, but there seemed to be a weird, translucent screen in front of him.

"This is probably a hallucination, right?"

As soon as he tried to dismiss the floating window, the translucent screen suddenly became clear.

"The hell?"

He could hardly believe what he was seeing, so he rubbed his eyes and blinked. But the text on the translucent window didn't disappear.

"What does this mean?"

Confused, Tom started reading the words one by one.

<Will of rebel> was something that could be interpreted as him having a rebellious spirit, while <Lucky Draw> seemed to do something with luck, which was cool. But the problem was, the next line read <None >.

"That's kind of a downer..."

That single word was enough to send him into a funk. He had no skill at all, although he had two exclusive skills.

Was this real, though? This didn't make any sense at all.

"I think I should go back to bed and sleep. Yup."

As Tom turned around to head back inside, he wondered how he could make this thing disappear. He tried to brush it with his hand, and he accidentally touched the <Lucky Draw> skill.

"Ah..."

The moment he touched it, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Woah!"

A message popped up asking if he was sure about using his skill, which startled him.

"A chance will decrease? And to recharge, I have to finish a quest? What the hell is this?"

He had never seen a skill like this before. It was completely different from the game characters he was familiar with.

"This must be a dream."

If not, he might as well go crazy. Or maybe so lucky.

Tom had been wondering how he could use his skill. He just randomly touched it, and the system was kind enough to ask him if he really wanted to use the skill.

"What quest am I supposed to finish, anyway?"

Another text appeared after Tom's muttering.

"Ah, wait. I can get a skill from using this <Lucky Draw>? I have no skill right now, and it looks like it's a special one, too."

He didn't know that this window could hear him. For now, he would call it system, inspired by those novels he used to read.

"System, is it true that you can give me a skill?"

No answer. So it only answered him when he spoke about the skill?

That was easy to understand.

Tom didn't really get it. So, he just asked the system.

"Hey, system, what does a [Pure] personality mean?"

No response. He should've expected it. Sighing, Tom just gave up. This night was truly a magical one, indeed.

"System, show me my skill list again, please."

When he clicked the quest, the detail appeared. He understood that this wasn't a dream.

He had decided.

Tom was going to find a girl with a pure personality. He would finish the quest and then use his <Lucky Draw> to get more skills.

Maybe among the skill he could get, there would be something that make his life easier.

Even if there wasn't, it sounded fun doing quest in the real world.

"This world has turned from a shitty game into a godly game all of a sudden. Hahaha."

Tom started laughing loudly.

His college life would certainly turn out to be interesting.
