Escape plan

Theodore knew Nicolas's house well, and so he had not made ceremonies to enter and leave the purchases on the kitchen counter. However, the moment they passed in the room, Gabriel immediately took a handkerchief from his bag and used it to cover the nose of the blonde.

There was a very intense smell there.

The two boys exchanged glances. Theodore held the handkerchief and went down the corridor to the last room where the door was open. There he and Gabriel could find the origin of that strong smell.

And they were surprised.

Milles was propped up in Nicolas's bed, with the face of few friends holding Nicolas seated in his lap. Completely left there, as if in pure ecstasy. The captain, on the other hand, slept like a baby with his head on his shoulder, and the tip of his nose touching the alpha's neck.

What an unprecedented scene!

The two boys looked at each other completely confused of what they saw there. Gabriel had touched the lover's shoulder in a silent message that he would try to understand the situation in his place.

The alpha had taken a few steps into the room, having Milles rolling only his eyes towards him. Stuck, Gabriel approached slowly fighting bravely against that smell so intense. He crouched close, looking curiously at that amazing combination.

― Um... what's going on?

Milles had moved his lips without his voice coming out straight. Gabriel had looked over his shoulder at Theodore, who had not contained his curiosity and had entered the room going straight to the window checking if it was open. His last exit to deal with the smell outside turn on the ceiling fan of the room, and still took a while to disperse the smell there present.

Only then did Theodore crouch on the other side of Milles, leaning in to question him again and hear his answer. The alpha's voice was very low and hoarse, needing the blonde to lean with his ear almost glued in his mouth to hear properly.

― Get him out of here!

― Okay, Gabriel, let's put Nico to bed.

― Right.

The two boys had a hard time releasing Nicolas's hands from Milles' uniform. Holding their shoulders and legs, the two managed to take the sleepy Nicolas to the bed, where Theodore had been very careful to get the covered thrown in the room to take to the bedroom and cover the best friend. Meanwhile Gabriel checked out his best friend, trying to figure out what the hell might have happened.

― Why are you like this, man? What happened?

Milles squeezed his eyes with his fingertips, sighing tired trying to sit right on the carpet. He had not answered the question immediately, looking too dazed. Gabriel had not dared to question again, turning away to give his friend enough space.

― Can you get up? Do you want water or something to eat? ― Theodore asked Milles, looking worried.

The Alpha had agreed to the head when the water was mentioned, and Theodore went off immediately to the kitchen to fetch. Upon returning to the room, the smell had already been dispersed enough that the handkerchief was set aside. And then he had extended the cup of water to Milles, who had taken it with his trembling hand.

They watched silently as the Alpha drank thirsty water, escaping a few strands of water from his chin. Finished quenching his thirst, Milles blinked a few times and shook his head seeming to regain consciousness.

― What the fuck.

― Is it better?

― Yep, man. Holy shit...

― Did you fight until you got tired?

― I would prefer.

Gabriel had analysed the state of the friend who was, in a nutshell, deplorable. His shirt was completely wrinkled, as were his blond hair. The first open buttons showing the chest and shoulder, where there was a bite.

Widening his eyes upon noticing, Gabriel turned to Theodore gaining his immediate attention. With discretion he had pointed with his chin towards that bite, noticing the face of the omega turn pale.

Milles, though tired, had noticed that the two could have seen and sighed low.

― He bit me.

―Bit... How? Don't you mean that bite. ― Questioned Theodore with a fearful smile on his face.

― What a famine...

― Do you know what time the captain's mother arrives? ― Gabriel asked curious.

― It usually arrives around 10 pm, why?

― We should make soup then.

Theodore looked at his eyes confused by the sudden change of subject. Gabriel pointed his head toward the friend who was sitting there, and then the situation became clear. They needed to get Milles out of the room.

― Let's go to the kitchen then, I'll need help to get ready faster.

Theodore and Gabriel stood up and helped Milles stand, which was difficult since he was a little taller and heavier than them. Even more so with the alpha throwing his weight on his shoulders, still having difficulties to maintain balance.

Worry was right. Theodore couldn't imagine what would have happened for those two to end up in that situation. What kind of bite was that on Milles' neck? Would it have been Nicolas who did it? And would your friend happen to have one on his body as well?

The questions were so many that he became dizzy.

Dragging Milles into the kitchen, the two boys sat him in a chair and poured him another glass of water. Keeping it in his field of vision, Theodore took a pot and filled it with water, while Gabriel already washed some vegetables to cut.

― Can you tell us what happened? Maybe we can help you.

Theodore had felt that Milles was excited to talk about it, so he had used a calm tone to it. While tending the soup along with Gabriel, peeling and leaving some vegetables to boil, the omega had his attention on the tall athlete. As a simple sign of comfort.

It seemed to work, because the alpha leaned on the table looking at Theodore directly.

― We kissed.

The knife that peeled a potato stopped suddenly when Theodore raised his eyes to Milles.

― What?

― He's been teasing me ever since I got here. I have limits, and...

— Oh shit, I forgot about that detail. ― Swearing Theodore, surprising the starer who looked curious. ― It was bad, Milles. I totally forgot to tell you that.

― Of what, Theo?

― When Nico gets sick, he looks like a sneaky kid. Like my sister.

― Do you have a sister? ― Gabriel was surprised.

― Yes, she's still small.

― You call that detail? And you still forgot to warn me? ― Milles shouted.

— Because I'm already used to it. ― Hurried to explain the omega, peeling the potato. ― I'd rather think it's a personality he hides to... protect himself. Or rather, that this would be the real Nico?

― Like that? Are you sure? Because the impression I had is that I'd rather get hit in the face than facing that... Stink.

Shaking his head following the reasoning, Gabriel did not dare to laugh. Despite wanting. He couldn't imagine how terrible Nicolas was as a patient.

— One teacher once said that when we get sick, our classes excel. ― He explained Gabriel wisely, to the admiration of Theodore. ― Is the captain's omega instinct the opposite of his personality?

― If that's it, I feel sorry for you Biel.

Theodore arched his brow for Milles.

― That's not how it works! I'm a love of a person anyway.

Milles had made a grimace.

― That's what Jake said.

Gabriel's direct gaze shivered Milles, and the alpha immediately regretted mentioning his cousin. Whimpering, the highest alpha stroked his own hungry snoring belly.

― So, you guys are... that means you think Nico is...

Theodore had stopped talking, suddenly nervous about bringing it up. Nicolas had confided in him that Milles was his soul mate, but had not commented on it being a secret. I mean, wouldn't it be obvious to keep that a secret?

After all... it was Milles Mckenzie!

Sadie Mckenzie's older brother.

The volleyball team striker.

The one who has directed prickly words and malicious smiles to know it was an omega.

A chicken that never stopped with a girl to date seriously. Having a whole fan club just for him.

Wouldn't it be obvious to keep Nicolas's prints a secret?

But... it was clear that Nicolas was swayed by that alpha. On Sunday night, his friend commented on the kiss that had happened in the gym locker room. Theodore had been so surprised that he did not leave his friend alone until he knew the details.

And it was so surprising to see Nicolas completely lost.

He had no idea how to describe your feelings.

Theodore turns, that time, his best friend blush.

But without ever daring to tell the truth about what he had felt.

If they kissed, and Milles himself affirmed it... Wouldn't it be a sign that he would also think that Nicolas was his soul mate?

― Did he say anything to you?

Theodore looked into his eyes.

― Speak you first. Depending on what happened, I won't say anything.

Milles had cracked his tongue, and Gabriel laughed down taking care of the noodles, having fun listening to that conversation.

— On the volleyball court, that day he kissed me I felt something ― Milles had started, looking away at the empty glass of water on the table. ― Something inside my head screams, like a fire alarm, saying the captain is the cause of all the mess. I mean... Is that how you find your soul mate?

Theodore had finally finished his battle with the potatoes, and had cut them by throwing them on a small plate. Free enough to face Milles, the omega closely analysed every expression visible on his face. He assessed the extent to which he could speak or not.

Until he felt a grip on your shoulder.

Looking back, he came across Gabriel's gentle and calm smile.

Okay, your lover was giving him the green light that the subject could be talked about civilized. He could question Gabriel later on about the details.

— Do you think he is your soul mate? ― Questioned with caution, seeing Milles agree with his head silently. ― That would explain why Nico acted... That way. He never tried to attack me when he gets sick, always sleeps.

Milles snitch rolling his eyes.

― I knew. Even sick he wants to make my life hell.

— But what makes me curious is this there on your shoulder. ― Pointed Gabriel with the tip of the knife, away of course, toward the shoulder of the friend. ― Is it that bite? Of connection?

The "x" of the question was that. Theodore was very curious to know the answer.

When a hybrid bit another hybrid, a bond formed. Precious and indestructible, that's what they made one. Theodore dreamed of the day when he would be bitten by the person he loved, at the same time he was afraid.

What if he ended up tied to someone horrible?

So he dared not dream too much. One thing was to live a beautiful summer romance, exchanging kisses and caresses overflowing love. Another was to divide an inner bond between two hybrids, where even thoughts could be shared.

Thus, knowing that someone had bitten a person was an event as great as discovering a pregnancy or someone's death.

― Yeah, he bit me to make a connection.

Gabriel and Theodore let the cutlery fall in awe. They stared in amazement at Milles, who caressed the bite with his fingertips looking incredulous.

― What the fuck?!

― Watch your mouth! ― Scolds Theodore, making Gabriel compress his lips. ― Ok... Ok. One step at a time. Ahn, you bit Nico too?

― But of course not. I was lucid at the time.

― Less harm.

The conversation was suddenly interrupted when the couple focused for a moment on the ingredients they were preparing. At the same time, a sweet smell had become present. The giant white sausage had once again appeared in the room, much to the horror of Milles. However, only he realized his presence, since Gabriel had called Theodore to see the soup and turned his back.

He wanted to scream for help. He wanted to run away. But he was stupidly weak to move.

The blanket had fallen to the floor, and Nicolas crawled across the floor hiding under the table. At the same moment Theodore had returned to the table, taking the vegetables he had cut to throw them in the soup pot.

Noticing the heavy blanket lying in the middle of the room, the omega arched his eyebrow looking around for his friend's presence. He stared at Milles, noticing him staring into his lap.

Tilting his head, he turns something under the table. Theodore immediately nudges Gabriel, making him look at the same place, becoming perplexed.

― Is he there? ― Theodore quietly nods ― What should we do?

― Milles. Milles. Milles. ― Called in whisper again and again, until the alpha looked at him ― What is he doing?

― Staring. I'll have nightmares about him, Biel. Save me.

― You said he always sleeps, isn't it Theo? If he eats the soup, but very much so... Will he sleep?

Theodore crouched supporting his arms on his knees. The vision was unprecedented to the point that the blonde wanted to take a picture to show his friend later. Nicolas had his head resting on Milles' thigh, staring at him intently without moving.

Crouching beside Theodore, Gabriel sighed tired.

― He looks like those cats that scratch our faces when we touch them, but also scratch us when we do not pay attention.

― I think Milles will have to give in, just for today. ― Murmured the omega to the lover.

And then Theodore whispered the cunning plan he had thought of in those few minutes. The situation was so deplorable and out of control, that the omega had praised himself for having found some way out of the problem.

Getting up to take care of the soup, the two already put the plan into action. Gabriel whispered some ideas to his best friend, understanding his fear when he had also become the target of the dark, sleepy and vigilant eyes.

That captain was someone scary, even sick.

The soup, finally, had been served. Milles had taken three plates of the soup, hungry due to the energy spent on the bite. Nicolas had also sat down to eat the soup, standing next to Milles staring at him without blinking.

It was the darkest scene.

Meanwhile, Gabriel and Theodore made the captain's bed and threw Milles' backpack and skateboard out the window. They made it easy for the plan to follow.

― Will you be okay dealing with him? ― Asked Gabriel, worried.

― But of course.

The plan had been put into action.

Theodore and Gabriel remained in the room watching television after they had washed the dishes. Milles had gone to the Nicolas' room, having Nicolas on his tail holding the hem of his blouse and yawning sleepily.

They waited half an hour until they went on tiptoe to the captain's room, where they saw Milles lying in bed with his eyes closed and a Nicolas beside him, clinging to the sleeping alpha shrunk. As Theodore had imagined, his best friend felt the need to sleep with the smell of his alpha.

By the skies, as your friend blundered for the rest of his life only with that episode.

The two returned to the room and stayed there until 8 pm. It was the moment when the alarm rang on Gabriel's phone, loud enough for Milles to listen. Theodore got up from the couch and out to his friend's room, helping Milles get rid of the sleepy captain.

Nicolas's sleep would be heavy enough for him not to notice the absence of Milles. Right, step one completed.

Placing the pillow on which the alpha lay in his place, Theodore covered his friend as Milles followed on tiptoes to jump out the window and run away.

Only when Gabriel passed in front of the window throwing a charming wink in his direction, Theodore could breathe relieved that his escape plan had worked.
