I Come From The Water

Mor is a mermaid, but not those lovey dovey kind that you hear about all over the place. No she is a real Mermaid. One that kills and eats people, lures humans to their death, and laughs while watching. A terror to the Human Race. So who the hell thought it was a good idea to throw here into the middle of a forest!?

I Hate Dry Land

I am beyond pissed. This blasted forest just keeps going. All the dirt that I have washed off earlier has already come back. Stomping through the tall grass and bushes I finally, FINALLY, made it to a road. The road was dirt with two track indents in it. Short grass grew in-between the indents while mud and dust settled at the bottom. Trees where cleared a little on either side to make it somewhat visible.

"Sigh…" Might as well head along the road… It had become more and more obvious that when the Coventina said go east she didn't mean that the ocean was just over a hill, but that it was just east from here. The burning sun and dry air was doing little for my mood as I set off down the road heading in what I think is South.

The road twisted and turned its way through the dense forest saving me from having to push my way through the plants, but in exchange I have to stomp through mud. As the hours passed with no change in scenery I got fed up and sat down against a tree. I leaned my head back and watched the sun slowly dip below the horizon. Red, orange, and purple stained the sky letting the world know that the day was coming to an end.

My stomach growled in protest to the fact I haven't eaten anything all day. I lazily glanced around to check if there was anything edible in the area but soon gave up. I could live for five days without food no problem. It just became a habit to eat everyday. Watching the sun disappear below the trees I waited for what would happen next.

For the last couple of miles I have been followed by something taking cover in the woods. They have made no move to take action even though I have left clear openings as I walked and made no indication that I knew they were there. Hoping that the cover of darkness would bring them some confidence I sat waiting against the tree with my eyes closed.

Time passed slowly as I sat doing nothing. Buzzing sounded in my ear as misquotes emerged from where ever they hid during the day. Furrowing my eyebrows as one landed on me I waited for just the right moment. There! Quickly I slammed my hand down on my leg killing the pest. While it did nothing in the grand scheme of things it was still satisfying. Sigh.

I opened my eyes and stood up, brushed as much grass off as I could, and began walking down the road again. If the things following me wasn't going to come out so be it. They can stay hidden as long as they like I'll just ignore them. A man emerged from the forest in front of me blocking my path. So you finally appear. He was looking at me with lustful eyes as if licking me.

"…" He took a step forward but stopped when my gaze harshened watching and reading his every move. Slowly he held up his hands in a obvious sign of surrender. When I made no move at his actions he scowled. "ምን, ልጃገረድ አጠራጣሪ መሆኑ ነው?" His voice was grating.

"…" I made no sign I heard him. What language is that. I don't understand anything. Tch, looks like I have to learn a new language.

"እኔም አንድ ጥያቄ እጠይቃችኋለሁ ጊዜ መልስልኝ!" His face grew red in anger as he yelled at me. Not that I knew what he said, but it was hideous to look at. Oi, your going to pop a vain. Oh, wait that might be funny to see. I've never actually seen that before. Please show it to me hideous angry man~.

He got even anger at my silence. "ኦአይ, እዚህ ላይ ውጡ!" At his shout more men came out from the cover of the woods. One of the men came up to him to calm him down. Tch, I really wanted to see him pop a vain. How disappointing.

I watched the new men as the comforted the first one. What a good example of camaraderie. How annoying. Deciding that I had had enough of this I started walking around the men and their stupid affectionate show. Or that was the plan.

One of the men grabbed my arm as I walked by. His hand tightened trying to pull me back. Key word being trying. I grabbed his wrist and broke it. No one and I mean No One touches me. I glared at the man as he cried out in pain and squirmed on the ground like an insect.

"ሄይ!" The others shouted in alarm. They pulled out their weapons and pointed them at me. Like that would save the worm on the ground. He is dead. I kicked the guy on the ground hard, sending him flying into the man behind him. Unfortunately the sword missed him and only lightly injured him. Tch, lucky man.

The men shouted at me in their strange language and started charging at me. I rolled my neck making it pop. "Let the games begin." I whispered with a smile on my lips.
