A lucky day?

*smash*smash*smash*

The Goblin has been coming at me with it's ferocious assualts for a while now. I am forced to back away everytime it charges at me. So much for this being an easy fight. I could not even get near it much less kill it.

'Oh right, I also posses a weapon.' I grabbed the Iron rod hanging on my waist. Though it looks fragile with it's two feet length and thumb like thickness compared to my opponents one meter spiked club, this is all I have. This is not the time to be picky.

I held the Iron rod on both ends with my two hands. This thing will not just easily break in half right?

The monster smashed it's club at me and this time I am not running. I positioned the rod above me to block its attack. 'Please hold' I prayed as I was not optimistic about the idea.

*clang*

My arms sunk down a little as the monsters attack landed. Surprisingly, the Iron rod didn't break from the impact. Although it did receive some scratches, overall it was all good. That is a bit of my burden being taken care of.

Taking advantage of it being caught off guard, I used Harden on my foot and kicked it on it's stomach.

It didn't expect that my fragile looking weapon can take it's attack head on leaving it totally open. It's saliva spewed everywhere as I landed a direct hit. Don't underestemate me or you'll die unknowingly.

I backed away right after my successful assualt. Though it took some considerable damage it's not enough to weaken it. My skill still have a lot of time left but recklessly charging will just end up bad for me.

The Goblin didn't cower even though it sustained damage first. If not, I think it became even more aggressive. As if the earlier injury didn't happen it charged at me ferociously.

"Gruahh" it shouted as it brandished it's weapon at me. The spikes emitted a bluish light as it came crushing down.

Shit. I couldn't dodge all of its attack. Everytime I block its sharp spiked club with my iron rod it would always leave a deep scratch. If this goes on my weapon will break (again) and I will be left defenseless. Why do I always end up with a low end weapon.

I was slowly getting familiar with it's attack pattern as the battle went on. Slipping some kick here and there, the Goblin became even more ferocious but it also made is defense sloppy. With a guard so inviting I didn't shy away and poked it even more. I even landed a couple of hits on it's vital parts.

The fight is tilting on my favor, for now. I checked my weapons durability and a harsh reality hit me. My weapon is reaching it's limit. It was obvious as day with it's sorry appearance. Deep cuts everywhere and when they accumulated it spelled my weapons doom. My doom. If my speed was inferior to this Goblin I would have been defeated a long time ago.

I could also take advantage of my speed because my weapon acted as my shield. Without it I don't know if I will still have the courage to take it's massively destructive weapon head on. You'd also hesitate right?

*smash*clang*swish*

Evade, block and attack. I repeated it diligently. My focus is spot on and any openings is being taken advantage on. I'm without any wound which is very impressive for me but I'm starting to tire. How many more attacks should I hit to take you down.

It wield it's weapon at me again. I couldn't evade so I raised my weapon to block it. Please hold: I prayed. Half way through it's attack it's spiked club suddenly lost its radiance.

*crack*

Our weapons clashed. Tragically my weapon eventually broke. The momentum of its attack didn't stop and landed on my shoulder. It didn't actually landed. It was repelled by the orange barrier.

*clang*

As if hitting a metal the attack bounced off and made the Goblin stagger backwards.

"Sa...safe." I thought I was a goner. I don't have any idea on what transpired but I am both shocked and relieved. I won't let this opportunity go to waste.

With the monster out balance in front of me I activated my skill, Harden, on my right leg. I noticed that I deal more damage everytime I use my feet so I'm doing it instinctively. Using the farthest momentum I can generate I kicked it in it's ribside.

*crack*

I could hear multiple ribs breaking. It was blown away by quite a distance but I am far from done. Rushing towards it as fast as I could, I wind up my leg again for another attack.

*crack*

It's body bended in a sideways "V" shape. So much blood spewed out of it mouth. It tumbled and rolled for a few meters before laying on the ground unmoving. I immediately dashed towards it. If I don't receive a notification I will not stop.

[You killed a Level 5 Goblin Soldier!]

[Bonus experience gained from Solo kill!]

[+1500 experience points!]

[You leveled up!]

[You leveled up!]

Half way through the notifications bombarded me causing me to stop. "Shit, this is getting harder and harder." I cursed as I slumped on the ground catching my breath. I looked at the disappearing goblins corpse and it's weapon.

"If I could just have that kind of weapon." I muttered as I looked at it's spiked club. One second, two seconds, then three seconds.

"Ah? It's not disappearing?" Excited, I hurriedly went and picked up the item. A window popped out immediately after

Iron Fragmented Club (uncommon)

Attack: 10

Durability: 200

Passive: every attack causes +2 to weapon damage.

- Warning, don't use while playing baseball.

"This...isn't really that impressive?" I was flabbergasted by my discovery. Sure it looks intimidating and all but 10 attack damage really isn't that much. It's passive also only works on weapons. Just as they say: Don't get blinded by it's outer appearance. What a shame. Well, better than nothing.

But it's damage a while ago was definitely huge. Was that a skill? or did the weapon degraded when it dropped?

I also picked up the chest that the monster dropped. It was surprising that I received a chest drop again. I guess I've become a lucky man. Hahaha

I opened it and got three items out of it. A cloth pouch, another red colored skill parchment and a pair of shoes.

"Holy smokes, is this another rare skill?" I picked up the skill parchment and a notification alert popped out.

[Skill (Thorned) obtained. Learn skill?]

"No" I replied. I carried all the items then used Hidden as I gained 1 Mana a while ago. Staying in the open gives me chill so I proceeded towards my house where it is safer. Better check the items in a secured place and recuperate while at it.

I locked the door and window before I relaxedly sat on my bed. Being inside of your own house really gives a comfortable feeling. I checked the skill parchment I hid under my bed and fortunately it was still there. Gathering all the items on my bed, I checked them one by one.

First I picked up the pair of shoes. It looked ordinary with it's brown colored leather. This is my first time obtaining an equipment so I'm looking forward to it. Please don't disappoint me.

Shoes (ordinary)

Defense(P): +5

Durability: 80

- Wear with caution. Spider sometimes linger here.

Not bad. Gaining 5 points increase in defense is like leveling up once. The thought of slowly getting stronger hypes me up and it also boosted my moral. Without further ado let's wear my first equipment.

At first it wasn't that comfortable but as I move my feet they became lighter and fitter. As if they readjusted themselves specifically for me. What a nice feeling this is.

Here's a new chapter. Leave a comment or review if you have an extra time. Thanks!
