Wade stood on the side of the road, sensing the impending danger. Just a fraction of a second separated him from death, and there was nothing he could do.
"You'll see—just as that truck hits you, you'll appreciate life," he thought with an ironic smile. His thoughts were interrupted by a quiet chuckle. "Hahaha, actually no, you won't. If it's a truck, there's no hope for you. You're dead. Game over."
Wade stood in darkness, both literally and figuratively. He was surrounded by a void—cold, unwelcoming. The darkness was omnipresent, thick, and overwhelming. "It's true, I'm floating in the air. You heard right," he continued in his thoughts, trying to make sense of the situation. "But what if I get bored after a few seconds? Then what?"
His head was swarming with thoughts. He couldn't move, couldn't sit, couldn't even reach for his phone. But not because he was dead. "Here's the thing," Wade analyzed with irony, "when someone dies, they usually meet a god and get a wish. And me? Well, I threw my phone off to the side of the road. Why? So the screen wouldn't crack." Heh, his own stupidity amused him.
"But since I've got nothing better to do, maybe I'll introduce myself," he muttered to himself with a smile. "My name is Wade Stone. And yes, the name fits me as much as a dog fits a cat. I'm twenty years old and, well... I died pretty young."
The boy reflected on his appearance. "I'm not handsome, but I'm not ugly either. Green eyes, short-cropped black hair. Nothing special. As for my face, I don't complain... but if I could, I'd probably gripe a bit."
His thoughts wandered aimlessly until he was bored. Again. "What else?" he pondered. "I like girls, but they don't like me. I like games, but ever since I discovered cheats and codes, I rarely play without them. Well... I'm bored again."
For a moment, he tried to make sense of his surroundings. "Let's see if it's still dark," he thought, looking around. "Yep, still dark. Damn it!"
Suddenly, he shouted aloud:
"Someone turn on the light!" His voice carried both irritation and desperation.
To his surprise, a soft click responded. Suddenly, the darkness lifted, and a bright, blinding light flooded the area.
"That's not what I meant!" he grumbled. "Who turned on this light?"
The silence was broken by a deep, calm voice:
"Apologies for the delay," the stranger spoke. "I've had a lot on my mind lately."
Wade looked up, seeing a figure surrounded by light.
"No problem," the boy replied. "I've just arrived."
"I've been sitting here for a week. Thanks, God," he thought sarcastically.
"I believe I can hear you," the voice spoke again. "I am God."
Wade quickly adopted a more serious tone.
"Sorry for the lack of tact. But, um... what now? What's going to happen to me?"
God looked at him with a gentle smile.
"You have a choice, my child. Either you go to purgatory, and then to heaven. Or, by your own wish, to hell, which I don't recommend. But... I can offer you something else, something unique."
Wade smiled ironically.
"Well then, I choose the third option."
God nodded.
"Very well. Recently, I've been exploring one of the multiverses and found something that intrigued me. In local literature, manga, and fanfiction, authors have created something like a system. I liked this concept very much. I'd like you to test it. I'll give you a system and transfer you to a world of your choice. What do you think?"
Wade couldn't contain his smile.
"You don't have to ask; you already know the answer."
God raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"I'll leave the choice of the system and world to you."
The boy began to consider all the possibilities. "Hmmm... the Marvel world? Tempting, but DC has some interesting characters. Still, Marvel seems better... especially the version with mutants."
"I've made my decision," he finally said with certainty in his voice.
"I'm listening," God replied, following his thoughts with interest.
"I want to transfer to the full version of the Marvel world. With mutants, Inhumans... the whole package."
God smiled in approval.
"Good choice, my child. And what about the system?"
Wade thought for a moment.
"With all due respect, if it's possible... I'd like the 'Creative Mode System.' I know it might be too ambitious, but... why not?"
God was silent for a moment, then responded:
"Hmm, 'Creative Mode System'? An interesting choice. It might be difficult to achieve full power, but... it's your decision. Prepare yourself, you'll be transferred soon."
Wade felt his heart start to race. A new adventure awaited just around the corner.
