chapter 14-snakes and ladders
After Adam's embarrassing encounter with the bunny, he went out hunting to find something to eat and stumbled upon what looked like a deer but had only one antler at the tip of its head.
Adam approached the deer carefully from its rear, so as to not frighten it away all while maintaining Zetsu.
When he was finally within arms reach it appeared the deer noticed him. It looked straight at him, but it was already too late and Adam sent a punch into its side sending it tumbling across the ground until it came to a halt against a tree and barely survived with a concaved stomach.
"I'll put you out of your misery now"
Adam then grabbed the neck of the deer and snapped its neck killing it.
'Food acquired, I should eat it here and not near the cave as the smoke will attract other contestants who are aiming for my badge to where I sleep'
After preparing a fire with some sticks and ripping the fur off the deer, Adam began to roast its meat and then when it was finally done he bit into the succulent meat and finally filled his stomach, regaining his lost energy.
When he was done eating he headed back towards the lake and drank his fill of water, then finally went back to his cave. On the way he kept Zetsu activated and tried to remain hidden from sight so no one could follow him back.
After finally reaching the hidden cave entrance Adam noticed how some of the shrubberies that hid the entrance were moved.
'It was probably just an animal but I should remain cautious, after all, there are a lot of skilled people in The Hunter's Exam'
Adam slowly moved away from the shrubbery covering the entrance and walked in while keeping to the wall with Zetsu activated.
When he neared the open room inside the cave he noticed the ceiling looked somewhat different than before.
'It's hard to see but the ceiling doesn't look like its made of rock and it looks like it's moving around'
Adam slowly took a step inside and peeked his head around the room.
He finally caught a dark silhouette hiding against a wall to his left.
But at the same time Adam noticed the man hiding, he heard a large hissing sound from behind him.
When he turned around he saw many snakes slithering over each other, slowly approaching him.
'It looks like they're trying to trap me inside this room'
Adam then activated Ren and tried to concentrate more Nen towards his feet, although this drained him a lot and he didn't have much control over his nen yet. Then he pushed off from his feet and sent himself flying towards the entrance of the cave and over the pile of snakes that had tried to corner him.
When he finally lost momentum and passed over all the snakes he fell and tumbled to the ground, once again covering himself with dirt.
The snakes then went into the cave's room and hid along with the other snakes on the ceiling.
'He tried to trap me now I'll trap him, he needs to get water and eat sometime. I'll definitely outlast him'
Adam sat in the trees outside the entrance of the cave waiting for the man to exit the cave, where Adam would unsuspectingly ambush him.
After sitting in the trees for the full day and not seeing anyone exit, Adam began to doubt if there was even a person there.
But then the shrubbery at the entrance began to move and opened up revealing the cave.
Then a large number of snakes began to move out in groups.
'Damn he's planning to sit in there the whole time and have his snakes hunt for him. I could just leave him there and not take any risk, but I don't know when I'll meet someone again on this island and still need two more points. If the snakes are venomous then he'll probably have an antidote to the snake's venom on himself, so if I manage to quickly kill him and take the antidote I should be alright and manage to get another point. I'll be one step closer to finishing this exam'
After waiting for a few hours the snakes finally came back dragging a boar into the cave. Adam seeing this had an idea inspired by someone in a galaxy far far away.
