Chapter 63: Hello

I abruptly open my eyes as I remember thinking I heard mother's voice. How did she get here? Wasn't she already dead? Then who-

"Hello."

I jolt and turn to look at who called out to me. I see someone leaning on the door with my hood. They seem as short as me. Their eyes are shadowed, I can only see them giving me a small smile. They walk towards me, and sit on a chair.

Esther: "Who are you?"

"Who I am is of no relevance to you yet. Since you are not strong enough yet to keep this secret. The less you know, the better. I am only here to pass on a message your mother left for you. "

Esther: "My…mother? Is she alive?!"

"No. She is very much dead. Now listen carefully because I'm only doing this once."

I shut up an listen. They stick out their hand and grab a diamond from me.

"I'm going to need this for the message as I am low on my life force."

They crush the diamond, turning it into dark powder. They let it fall onto the floor. When it touches the ground, it starts moving like water. Forming a cane. I didn't know my tears can do that! It slowly rises from the ground, they grab it.

"Now, this may hurt for a sec. But that's normal."

Esther: "What-"

They hit my head with the cane, I slam onto the wall.

Esther: "That hurt!"

"Didn't you listen? I said it would. Also, notice anything strange?"

What are they talking- I can see myself laying on the bed. Wait, but, I'm right here! What's happening?! I look at my hands, they're somewhat transparent.

"You're a spirt. Hooray! Now let's get this message over with so I can go eat my snacks. You can come out now."

Someone walks through the door. MOM?! I run- I mean float to mother. We both hug for a long time. I can hear her crying.

"Hey, sorry to cut this reunion short, but can you hurry up? I don't have much time to keep this stabilized long enough."

"He's right. I'm sorry Esther, I'll have to tell you this now before I dissipate again."

I nod sadly while letting her go.

"Esther. I'm so very sorry for dying and leaving you. It was not within my calculations. But here is something that I always wanted to give you but never got the chance to."

Mother pulls out an a green egg. She hands it to me, I'm confused.

Esther: "What is this for?"

"Remember my stories about my village? Well, this is something they give to their people when they first leave the village."

Esther: "But I remember you said you were cased out for wanting to marry father."

"That is half true. I did love your father at one time, but not anymore. The villagers could see he was a bad man, but I refused to listen. They gave me this egg in the hopes that maybe my spirit will show me I was wrong. But because of that, I never tried to hatch it. So I am giving this to you as I am unable to use it anymore."

Esther: "How do I hatch it?"

"Pie can show you."

"HEY! DON'T SAY MY NAME YOU OLD HAG!"

"Don't mind his words, he's actually nice once you get to know him. And he also tries to be mysterious, it's quite funny actually."

I can hear Pie mumble something under his breath.
