Chapter Fourteen: Sacrifice

Just as the group was rejoicing, suddenly, the train seemed to tilt slightly as if it couldn't bear the strain.

"Hurry, get out quickly, the train is about to collapse!" Li Feng shouted anxiously. If the train collapsed, even with his threefold physical constitution, he couldn't escape death. After all, he was still a mere mortal.

Finally, Shi Yu managed to crawl out, using both hands and feet, with great difficulty.

"Quick, hurry!" He shouted urgently at the exit.

At that moment, the train shook again.

"Be careful, Shi Yu, step back!" Li Feng shouted hastily. He knew that in the original story, Shi Yu was almost hit by an oil tank that fell due to such a jolt.

"What?" Shi Yu, who was still puzzled, suddenly felt a great danger and quickly retreated.

Boom! There was a loud crash as a huge oil tank fell right where Shi Yu had been standing just moments ago, blocking the exit for everyone.

"Phew, that was close!" Shi Yu sighed in relief and immediately rushed to try to push the tank blocking the exit, but no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn't budge.

"Ah!" He couldn't help but cry out, and even with all his strength, he couldn't move it.

He didn't just worry about his daughter still inside, but also about Li Feng and the others. They were his true companions now.

This time, he would no longer be the selfish person in his daughter's eyes.

Snap! A sudden sound of glass cracking woke everyone in the triangular space. Looking up, they saw that there were cracks in the windows of the train cars above them, from the zombies' attacks.

"Oh no!" This thought flashed through everyone's mind. The train car that was about to collapse was already a huge crisis, and now the train car windows were about to shatter, which would only make the maniacal zombies even more of a threat.

But the only exit was blocked by an oil tank!

"What do we do, what do we do? Is there really no way out?" This question kept echoing in everyone's minds. Was there truly no way out?

Looking up, they could still see the ferocious faces of the zombies behind the train windows.

"Calm down, we must stay calm!" Li Feng forced himself to speak calmly. "Yi Shanghua, crawl through the crack and help Shi Yu push the oil tank. I and Rongguo will stay behind to protect the women."

"Quick, go!" He urgently punched Yi Shanghua on the shoulder, who was still worried about his wife. There was no time to hesitate at this point.

"Alright, I'm counting on you!" Yi Shanghua didn't get angry, but replied solemnly.

"Good, go quickly!" After getting Li Feng's answer, Yi Shanghua looked at his wife with a heavy heart and then crawled through the crack.

"Be careful!" Han Shengjing reminded him. She also knew that at this moment, they couldn't afford to cause any trouble for the group.

Crack, crack, crack! Just then, several more cracks appeared in the glass of the train car windows above their heads. Li Feng quickly ordered, "Xiuan, Han Shengjing, Junhee, Dulin, all of you stay here near the exit. As soon as they open the gap, you climb out immediately, do you understand?"

"But what about you? Your hand is injured," Yu Dulin looked at him with teary eyes, full of worry.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine!" Li Feng answered calmly. He wasn't from this world, and even if he got infected, it wouldn't be a big deal. Staying behind to protect the others might be the greatest help he could provide.

"Then promise me you'll make it out alive!" Yu Dulin looked at him with eyes that were gradually becoming misty, her voice filled with a plea.

She knew she couldn't stop him, but getting him to promise to stay alive was her biggest hope.

At some point, even the woman who usually looked down on men had become humble.

"Yes, I promise," Li Feng replied with a soft heart as he looked into Yu Dulin's eyes, full of her own reflection.

Even though he knew they couldn't be together in the end, she had left a strong impression on his heart.

"Be careful then." With a nod but without waiting for his final answer, Li Feng turned and said to Rongguo and the others, "Our task now is to hold back the zombies as much as possible when they appear, to give everyone enough time to escape. Do you understand?"

"We understand!" Several students couldn't help but respond together.

They were still in high school and hadn't experienced the harsh realities of the world yet. They were still the idealistic youth, driven by a sense of justice. Even though they were very afraid, they believed that protecting the weak and vulnerable was their duty, especially with Li Feng and Rongguo by

their side.

Bang! After a light sound, the oil tank that had been tirelessly blocking the gap was finally pushed away thanks to the efforts of the two men.

Yi Shanghua quickly climbed out and shouted to his wife waiting inside, "Hey, Shengjing, come out quickly!"

Hearing her husband's voice, Han Shengjing quickly crawled over, after all, there was no time to waste when life and death were at stake. One couldn't expect a pregnant woman to be slower than anyone else.

Suddenly, there was a crisp cracking sound, and the glass inside shattered instantly. The zombies inside the train car fell like dumplings, and when they hit the ground, they got up as if they were normal people, charging toward the group madly.

"Roar!" Fierce roars filled the air as they saw the terrifying and horrifying faces of the zombies.

"Don't be afraid, attack!" Li Feng shouted and took the lead to charge.

His mighty punches knocked one zombie down after another. Even with his right hand injured, he was still valiant.

His heroic appearance dispelled the fear of the others, and they rushed forward to fight the zombies.

Boom! Punch after punch, the barricade left behind by the few people kept the zombies in place. They couldn't advance, giving everyone enough time to escape.

Finally, even the slowest beggar had managed to run out. Li Feng couldn't help but look at the group.

"Quick, you all should leave too, and I'll stay behind."

However, when he said this, it was unexpectedly the obedient students who opposed it.

"No, Li Feng, you and Rongguo should go first this time, we'll stay behind."

"Yes, you've been protecting us all along, it's our turn to protect you this time!"

"You guys!" Li Feng was speechless as he looked at these earnest but determined young faces. Even though he was also fearful, he chose to help them and stay behind to fend off the zombies. That was loyalty.
