Chapter 105 - O.W.L.s.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"There goes the Gryffindor Seeker! He's spotted the Snitch! That's it! James Potter accelerates... the Slytherin Seeker, Wilkes, is right behind him!"

"THEY ARE SIDE BY SIDE! WHO'S GOING TO GET IT?!" The commentator's voice rose at the climax of the chase.

"THAT'S IT! JAMES POTTER GRABS THE GOLDEN SNITCH!" The commentator exploded in cheers of euphoria, while the Gryffindor crowd erupted in applause and celebration.

At that moment, Snape was leaving the stadium, descending the stairs, no longer interested in the game. Gryffindor wasn't happy at all after he knocked Sirius Black down, forcing the team to call another player from the bench to take his place, as Snape wasn't officially a player, and nothing could be done against him.

Even though many looked at him with anger, and some Gryffindors certainly had a glimmer of interest in what he had done, Snape dismissed it as he continued walking to a floor where no one else was.

"It seems Gryffindor won..." Pandora's voice came from beside him, and he merely nodded without much interest.

"Yes... but now we should worry about those chasing us." He said, pulling Pandora into a hug before disappearing from the spot, using his shadow teleportation to avoid detection.

At that moment, footsteps were heard as three well-dressed people appeared on that floor, coming from inside.

"Damn... I could've sworn he was here," the man muttered with a notebook in hand.

"He must be on the floors above us... quickly, we need to approach him before the others do," another said.

"Yes, we can't lose such an incredible talent for Quidditch!" The third one ran ahead, followed by the others.

They were scouts looking for young talent, and they were surprised by the strength Snape had shown, imagining what kind of monster he would be at repelling Bludgers while scoring goals past the keeper.

Snape returned to the Room of Requirement with Pandora, as the girl smiled. "They certainly saw great talent in you... you could become very famous," she commented.

'I'm not interested...' he simply said while heading towards the aviary inside the Room of Requirement, emerging in the middle of an open field where Dobby was taking care of his animals.

Atlas was being groomed by a magical brush while eating peacefully, and Shadow was perched, pecking at seeds. Snape decided to spend the weekend there while studying. Pandora could request anything from Dobby, who worked efficiently, despite occasionally asking for punishment. Snape always ignored those requests.

Snape relaxed there, reading while enjoying the artificial sunlight. Pandora eventually said her goodbyes, and Snape stayed there until he fell asleep. The next day, someone came to visit him—Clarisse, approaching his potions lab.

"Why did you leave so suddenly?" she asked him after the unexpected event where he had knocked Black down.

"There was nothing left for me to do there," Snape replied calmly, preparing his potions and increasing his stock to meet his buyer soon, as there was only a week left at Hogwarts before the term ended.

"Well, can I help you?" she offered, and Snape didn't refuse, asking her to prepare some ingredients, which would be good experience for her.

"You have so many supplies here... I can't imagine how you get such rare ingredients..." she murmured, observing the many plants Snape had stocked throughout the year, either obtained from Professor Slughorn, purchased on the black market, or gathered from dangerous places.

"I have my ways. Speaking of which, your family could supply some ingredients... but preferably discreetly," he said, knowing that having a supplier like the Greengrass family would be very useful, and cheaper too.

"You sound like that mysterious potioneer from the newspapers when you talk like that..." she murmured before continuing, "I asked why you left earlier because I wanted you to meet my parents. They were interested in you; my father even praised your throw." She commented, after looking for Snape and only finding scouts trying to locate him.

"Really? Well, you can imagine why I had to leave then. Anyway, we have the holidays coming up, right?" Snape said.

"Yes... what will you do after you leave here? If you want, you could spend Christmas at my house... I heard you and your father don't get along very well…" she commented.

"That's true... but I'm fine. I'll be very busy and I don't know if I'll be able to go that day. I might be out of England." Snape said.

"Really?! Where do you plan to go?" she asked, quite surprised, as she continued working on the ingredients while Snape focused on the cauldron he had temporarily borrowed from Professor Slughorn for brewing simpler potions.

"I'm going to Eastern Europe... I need to take care of some things there," Snape said, as his system indicated he was at level 46.

"I see…" she murmured quietly, noticing that Snape wasn't inclined to talk much about it. "Anyway, we just have to wait for the results of the final exams... I think I did well." she confirmed.

"Yes, you did," Snape agreed.

"You know... you could teach me like you've been doing with Pandora. She really surprised everyone in the dueling class." she asked, her eyes curious and intense, directly focused on Snape.

He didn't look at her, but a small smile appeared on his face. "Alright. Just come here every day." he said, as she already knew the entrance to the Room of Requirement, and Snape had marked her as a guest, since he was considered the master of the Room and could control who entered or not.

So that Sunday passed with Clarisse helping him a bit before going off to do her own things, but Snape continued throughout the rest of the day, preparing various potions and further increasing his stock.

At the end of the day, he called for Shadow, placing a letter addressed to someone on its leg. The black owl knew exactly what to do, flying out of a window and heading toward London.

Snape ended up going to the kitchen to see the house-elves of the castle, as they had accompanied him for much of the year. It was only fair that he spend some time with them before truly leaving the castle, and they were overjoyed by his visit.

While the common room was in an uproar, with the headmaster allowing all kinds of sweets and decorating the hall for the students, especially for Gryffindor, for winning the Quidditch Cup this year, Snape was surrounded by house-elves, eating and calmly chatting with a few of them.

"Goodbye, Master Snape!!" The collective cry came as they were bathed in tears, while Snape nodded and returned to his bed in the Room of Requirement.

The following week, some rumors started to spread, but Snape wasn't particularly interested in them until all the results were out. Students ran around the school, as there were no more classes, although some could request tutoring or review material, especially those who had failed.

Despite being one of the most sought-after people due to all his "activities," from the Quidditch game to the events at the beginning of the year, Snape remained elusive. Lily asked around for him, particularly speaking to Pandora, who refused to disclose his whereabouts, stating that Snape could not be disturbed, something he appreciated, as he preferred to remain alone, opening the book given to him by the magical runes professor. It was a rare book that would allow him to better understand the runes found in Salazar's chamber.

Thus, he spent the rest of the week brewing potions and avoiding being seen, with only Clarisse and Pandora managing to find him, while he gave a few lessons to Pandora to continue her training.

Finally, the day of the results arrived, on Friday, and Snape planned to check them only in the late afternoon, confident in what his results would be. He remained in the Room of Requirement until midday, when Clarisse came to find him.

"Severus... Professor Slughorn wants to talk to you…" she commented as Snape raised an eyebrow.

"He wants...?" Snape muttered.

"Yes, it seems he's been looking for you all week, but you've only been here, so no one's seen you... I don't know why the professors haven't put out missing person flyers." She complained a bit, while Snape just remained where he was.

"Alright... I'll talk to him." Snape said, ignoring her last words before disappearing, heading towards one of the noticeboards in the school courtyard. These boards were spread throughout the castle, and he approached one that wouldn't have too many people around, though there was still a small crowd.

He stepped closer, checking his results as some students noticed him and instinctively stepped away—a normal reaction by now.

It was a magical board, so he had to dictate his name. It would recognize his voice and display the results privately, with only the people standing near Snape being able to see them.

"Severus Snape," Snape said.

In the next moment, the previous results, which belonged to a Ravenclaw student, disappeared, and Snape's name began to fill the board:

*Severus Snape ->*

Charms: Outstanding (O)

Defense Against the Dark Arts: Outstanding (O)

Transfiguration: Outstanding (O)

Potions: Outstanding (O)

Herbology: Outstanding (O)

History of Magic: Outstanding (O)

Extra subjects:

Ancient Runes: Outstanding (O)

Note: Excellent student, achieving top marks in all subjects.

*Outstanding (O)* – the highest grade.

As the results appeared, more and more students around him looked shocked. Being in his fifth year, Snape could now specialize in all subjects.

He shrugged, unsurprised, and walked away, where he found Bellatrix waiting for him with her arms crossed.

"Where have you been?" she demanded.

"..." Snape just looked at her and shrugged, walking past her.

"Tsk..." Bellatrix clicked her tongue. "Remember, you made a deal with me!" she called, drawing the attention of other students as she grabbed his arm.

"Yes, I'll teach you. Don't worry. But today, you'll have your first lesson." Snape said, looking at her with a mischievous smile. After all, she was still too arrogant, and it was time to teach her a little humility.

"Hm?" Bellatrix didn't like the way Snape was looking at her, but by then it was too late.

"First lesson: You'd better respect your professor from now on," he said, and she suddenly felt her world spin as she found herself suspended in the air.

"AHHHHH!!!" She let out a feminine scream as she plunged straight into the Black Lake, splashing into the water and getting completely soaked.

"Se-Severus!!" she exclaimed, but there was no one to hear her as she had to swim to the boat dock. Beneath her, a shadow with tentacles passed by.

Snape knew she'd be fine. Despite the constant bickering, he never actually harmed any students. On the contrary, he'd always pull them back to shore when they fell into the lake.

Snape then made his way to Professor Slughorn's office. A discussion ensued, as with top marks, Snape could specialize in any subject. Slughorn believed choosing all of them would be too detrimental to Snape and wanted to discuss which subjects would be best for his magical career.

Snape shared his interests, leaning toward potion-making and crafting magical artifacts with ancient runes. He was also a specialist in combat spells, far better than any other student—a unique prodigy in the eyes of the professors.

"Are you sure about this?" Slughorn asked, stunned.

"Of course. Except for History of Magic and Herbology, I'm interested in all subjects," Snape said, choosing five subjects to specialize in, which would put much more pressure on him. The higher levels of study in these subjects would demand more time and effort, as most students specialized in only one or two subjects. Rare students like Lily Evans chose three, but Snape wanted five, which left Slughorn a bit worried it might be too much. However, Snape made it clear he would continue.

Without another word, Snape returned to the Room of Requirement, spending his time brewing more potions before Sunday, when the House Cup results would take place. He was interested to see the outcome, even though he had personally lost several points, and his fellow Slytherins couldn't do anything about it.
