House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* *Sequel Pending*

The Portal

Several hours later we left her room after another round of sex followed by showering together to wash away our sinful actions. She stepped out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her, grinning at me sultrily she walked out of the bathroom purposely swaying her hips and I bit back a groan.

'Another line crossed, and I didn't even fight it.'

I dried myself off with a snap of my fingers and stepped out of the restroom completely nude. This had been a mistake as the second I walked through the door I was faced by the red faced Saltzman sisters. Lizzie looked at my sizable member before looking away, her blush turning nuclear. Josie sputtered before glaring at Hope before grabbing her sister's arm and dragging her out of the room.

"Prudes." Muttered Hope as she continued to get dressed.

I sighed, "What did they want?"

"They wanted help with a problem in town. Apparently there's some sort of disturbance."

"Strange, do you guys usually go out of your way to play hero?"

"No, not really. At least I try not to… with my family history it's almost inevitable. Trouble just seems to find me."

"That's just shite luck. So are you going to help them?"

"Shitty luck aside, probably. I'm not going to sit on my ass and do nothing. Besides, those two will get into far more trouble if I don't. Alaric would kill me if I let his daughters wander around while there's something potentially dangerous going on."

"I still can't believe that you guys fought a dragon."

"Hey! I wasn't directly involved. Like I said, trouble just seems to find me."

"Whatever," I snapped my fingers and a clean set of clothes appeared on me. "I'm coming with you. I'm curious to see what kind of interesting things you get up to."

"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you."

[Scene Break]

"And what exactly am I looking at?"

Hope glared at the shimmering portal as she threw another rock through it. Lizzie and Josie were standing not too far off looking a bit shaken. Earlier some sort of possessed undead body has stumbled out. Nothing the three had done did much to the reanimated corpse. The moment it tried to attack Hope I instinctively used my power to compress it into a tiny speck no larger than a grain of sand before blasting it towards the sun. Hope was now trying to find out where the portal led to without actually stepping in. She had tried casting spells at it but it only made the shimmering mass ripple as if it had been tickled. She then started throwing random things in it to see if they reappeared. First it was a garbage bin, her werewolf strength helping her toss the heavy stone bin through. That was followed by a plethora of odds and ends ranging from trash, rocks, branches, and finally a whole sapling. Alaric finally arrived after Lizzie gave him a call. He looked at the portal then to me and I shrugged.

"Don't look at me, I'm just a chaperone."

He scoffed, "As if you don't have anything to do with this."

"I don't… at least as far as I'm aware. Do you have any clue as to why this is here?"

"You're asking me?"

"You're the resident supernatural expert. Do some sciency shit or something."

"Wait! Shut up, I hear something." Called out Hope.

I raised my eyebrow, stepping next to the tribrid I narrowed my eyes at the portal as I heard whispering voices radiate from it. Nothing clear, just quiet muttering too silent to make out. I turned back to Alaric who was looking a bit alarmed.

"She's right, it's quiet but there's definitely voices inside this thing."

"We need to look into this, portals aren't common nor do they appear randomly."

"I agree, we have no idea where this le-"

"They're talking about you Seth." Hope said quietly.

"What?"

"Yeah, they're saying something about needing your help."

"Sounds suspiciously like some sort of a trap."

Alaric stood protectively in front of Lizzie and Josie. He looked at me worriedly before speaking.

"Anyone you know that can make a portal?"

"Not particularly no, the only one that may have been capable is currently missing."

"Then we need to get out of here. I'll send someone to look into this before something gets out."

"Seth, the voices are asking you to help someone called Cas."

"Interesting…"

"You know someone like that?"

"Yes, but they're in another world."

Hope turned to me, "You don't think…"

"It's too risky, we still don't know where it leads." Alaric interrupted.

I let out a tired sigh, it wasn't like anything could threaten me. At least nothing I had met just yet. I took out my phone and sent out a message to Anna and Amara. I had already made up my mind the second I heard Hope mention Cas. This was too good an opportunity to pass up. Especially if it led me back to the same world I was trying to get back to.

"I'm going through. I need to find out what's on the other end."

"Are you crazy! You can't just step into a random portal."

"Alaric, you're not gonna stop me. Besides, I'll be able to get back here if things go tits up."

"That- fine… If you're not back by the next school year you're fired."

"Pshhh, as if you actually needed me to teach."

"Just go, tell me what you find on the other side."

"Yeah yeah, I'll send a letter."

I made to step through the portal only to be pulled back by Hope. She glared at me before crossing her arms.

"What?"

"You're really just going to leave?"

"Yeah, I need to find out if it's the world I've been looking for."

"Fine, then I'm coming with you." She smirked.

"Okay."

She looked at me with surprise, Alaric gaped while the sisters looked at Hope knowingly.

"What, no 'it's too dangerous' speech?"

"Nah, I know you can take care of yourself."

"Good, now be a good boyfriend and lead the way."

She pushed me through the portal before stepping through herself. Alaric remained sputtering at the latest reveal.

"B- Boyfriend?"

"Yeah dad, I'm pretty sure they're fucking." Mumbled Lizzie only to be elbowed by her sister.

"He is so fired."

"What the fuck!"
