House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* *Sequel Pending*

Back in Time

It was like stepping through cold water, the portal shimmered around me before spitting me out by some trees. Hope stumbled into my back before steadying herself and looking around.

"Where the hell are we?"

"Not sure, is the portal still there?"

She turned around and groaned. "Nope, it's gone."

"That's fine, let's just figure out where we are first. I can get us back if we're not in the right place."

I took stock of my surroundings, it seemed that I had a penchant for appearing in forests everytime I traveled to different worlds. I wondered if Morgana's magic had something to do with it or if it was just some intricacies that the power had. Being deposited in a forest did serve to keep me away from prying eyes. Hope was also looking around, albeit a bit more excitedly. Spotting a looking building in the distance I called Hope over and we made our way over. Along the way I used Morgana's magic to transform our clothes to simple articles that wouldn't stick out no matter where we were. Once we reached the building it became clear that it was some sort of church. Deciding to err on the side of caution I motioned for Hope to stand near me as I concealed us with a small illusion.

"Stay quiet, there are people in that building. They seem to be fighting something."

"What could they possibly be fighting? I can feel the evil from here."

"You can sense it, good. That'll come in handy if we ever run into trouble."

"Oh god…" Hope whispered.

That moment an explosion of power rippled through the walls of the church as the roof exploded up into the air. There was a blinding flash of light and a wail of pain before the night was silent again. Hope looked at me fearfully as people stormed out of the church. They were mostly women from the look of things, many were armed with swords and daggers.

"What the hell was that? Where are we Seth?"

"From how they're dressed I'm guessing we're somewhere in the late 1600s. Maybe even later. I'm not really sure where we are though but judging from the language it's probably France."

"You speak French?"

"You don't?"

She rolled her eyes at me, "Never had a reason to learn. Wait… who's that they're carrying?"

I looked over to where Hope was pointing. My eyes narrowed as I noticed the unconscious form of a man. I focused a bit more and cursed.

"We need to move, can you shift into a wolf?"

"Yeah, but I don't want to ruin my clothes."

"Take them off then, I'll hold on to them."

"You just want to see me naked." She huffed.

"Well, yes. You're sexy as hell, but also I need you to trail them while I examine the church."

"Why not just come with me?"

I found myself agreeing with her, examining the church could come later. I needed to make sure that the man would be safe. I didn't know what these women would do should they get away.

"That's a good point, I'll come back later for the church."

"Do I still need to transform into my wolf?"

"While I wouldn't mind seeing you naked again, I could just fly with you while we follow them."

"Wait, you can fly?"

"Yeah? Didn't I ever tell you?"

"No!"

"Well I can, now hush. They're taking off."

I grabbed Hope by the hips before blasting off into the sky with my powers. Her scream was muffled by the wind rushing past us as we shot off higher and higher. When we reached proper altitude I began to follow the group of warriors as they rode towards a distant town. Silently I thanked whoever was listening for the opportunity that I had been presented with. After all, I had just found my way back to the world I was trying to get to.

"I'm coming Freya, Nicole, Amelie… just a little bit longer."

[Scene Break]

Hope Mikaelson was at a loss for words, no, she was completely confused at the turn her life had taken. Normally she wouldn't have been really surprised that it had ended up as another crazy adventure. Her life was one big crazy adventure, it came with her family. She hadn't expected to start a sordid relationship with her teacher, or travel through a portal with said teacher. She casually glanced at Seth as he held her in his arms while flying through the air. She would have been exhilarated if it wasn't for the fact that she was extremely aware of the fact that her nipples were getting rather hard from the cold air, the fact that she had opted out of wearing a bra. That had been a mistake. She fought the blush she knew was coming when he caught her looking at him. Looking away she silently cursed her raging hormones and focused on the night sky as they flew through the air.

'I wonder if it's a spell, I knew he was a vampire… but the fact that he can do magic too is new. Maybe if I wasn't so focused on how he makes my insides sing when we're sleeping together I would have noticed.'

Moments later they slowed down and began to descend to the ground. They had made it to a village of sorts and it looked like the group they had been following was running around trying to find someone. Seth let her go and she almost screamed thinking that she would fall. Only for her to hover next to him, she shot him a dirty look which he replied to with a smirk.

"You dick." She muttered.

"Yes, I know… now hush, we're gonna land behind that building."

Hope nodded, she held her breath as they slowly got lower and lower. Eventually they touched down behind the shadow of some sort of town hall and she turned to Seth. He waved his hand in her direction, her eyes widened when she felt a tingling sensation in her body before she just faded from view.

'He just turned me invisible. What the fuck… there's no spell that can do that.'

Questions now flying through her head she observed him as he too faded from sight. The only thing that hinted at his location was a faint shimmer that she wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for her enhanced senses. Together they snuck over to where the riders had dismounted. Several women armed to the teeth were standing guard over the still body of a man who looked like he had seen better days. Seth grabbed her hand and stopped her from moving forward as several women approached the women guarding the body. The lead woman had flaming red hair and looked about her age followed by who looked like the woman's sister and another woman who was in full armor. She could feel the power the three held and nearly flinched when they spoke. She could see their fangs, they were vampires too.

She wanted to ask so many questions but she wasn't stupid, she held her mouth fearing that they would be attacked by the vampires. She didn't know if she could defend against so many vampires. Seth was powerful but even she knew that he couldn't fight that many people. The redheaded woman spoke in an ethereal voice. She seemed concerned about the unconscious man. The language they were speaking was unfamiliar to her. It sounded like a mix between German and Romanian. Occasionally the woman would mutter something in English only to curse and go back to speaking whatever language it was they were talking in. She could practically feel Seth getting worked up the longer they watched the people speaking. It went on for a moment more before the woman finally spoke clearly in words that Hope could understand.

"Seth, I don't know where you are but we need your help. Casimir, he's been injured… please. We need you."

It sounded almost like a prayer, she glanced at the disillusioned Seth who remained still. Hope wondered if he knew the woman or if it was something that happened in the past.

'Maybe this is the past and we just time traveled.' Hope silently wondered.

Before she could protest Seth dispelled the illusion over them and started walking forward. Shouts of alarm came from the women surrounding the unconscious man and the red headed woman looked up.

"Seth what the hell, what are you doing?" She hissed.

"Stay by my side Hope, I'll explain in a bit."

[Scene Break]

I was shocked at first, it was Dorina that much was obvious. But I needed to be sure so I waited, and waited. Finally she called out to me and I wondered if she knew I was nearby.

'Maybe she has an instinctual feel for knowing when I'm near. She does know that I can teleport so maybe she's assuming that I can hear her.'

I broke the illusion over Hope and I much to her surprise. Telling her that I'd explain later I began to approach the women surrounding Casimir. They raised their weapons at me and I fought the urge to freeze them in place. Attacking people wasn't a great way to make a first impression, so I've been told.

"Wait he's with us…" Dorina called out to her companions.

The power Morgana had given me was translating the language they were speaking. Though I was a hundred percent sure it was a dialect of French.

"We've got to stop meeting like this Dori." I said in English.

"Good to see you too, now can you please help. He's not healing nor is he waking up."

The women let us pass their hands still on their weapons. Several eyed Hope warily while openly glaring at me.

"Tell me what happened first."

"Cas went off to fight some sort of demon with a group of warriors, they managed to beat it but he was injured."

"Not much to go on, though judging from his current state he looks like he's been cursed."

"I don't care what you do Seth, just save him."

I looked over to Hope. "Ever dealt with demons before?"

She frowned, "Not particularly but I have dealt with curses, Aunt Rebekah gave me a bunch of books that my grandmother wrote. They mention a few ways of breaking a curse."

"Let's leave breaking the curse for another time. I'll need to heal him first. Give me some space."

Dorina nodded and everyone backed away by a few feet. I glanced at Hope who shrugged before following the group of women. Focusing on Casimir's bloodied body I found several lingering energies. Two were from Myrddin and one from an unknown source. I could recognize the old bastard's magic through exposure from it but the unidentified power was different. It was dark, almost suffocating, I dispelled the old coots magic easily enough but the second I came close to the dark presence it latched onto what looked like Casimir's soul. I observed the dark aura while I healed Casimir's wounds. It was almost negligible but it was slowly dissipating. I cursed silently and turned to Dorina.

"I have good news and bad news."

"I take the good news is you've healed him and he's not in danger anymore?"

"Yes, he'll be fine…"

"But?"

"But I also see the curse, it's latched firmly onto what looks like his soul."

"What the hell does that mean Seth?"

"It means he won't be waking up any time soon."
