Boom.

The doors were struck once, pushing the desk blocking them a fair distance away and slightly opening them already, whatever had been on the desk still was pushed to the ground.

Leaning through the gap, the bark-faced pursuer looked around the dark room, only able to make out rough shapes as only the barred window provided minimal lighting thanks to the lampposts outside.

Gently placing the bottom of her foot against the table, a slight push on her part send it sliding across the room with a horrible screech before it ultimately stopped and fell over.

Without wasting any time, in search of Linda, desk and other furnitures were flipped over and reduced to splinters, removing hiding options one by one, the police station wasn't that big, the reception, the main room were the officiers that weren't on patrol would work from, a few cells and an armory, they didn't even have a rest room and the armory was locked, leaving only two places of Linda to be at.

Having demolished and search the main room already, Lissy stepped into a small hallway, noticing that her idea of the police station was off by a small detail.

They had a closet where the brooms and other cleaning ustensils were kept, it was situated in between the cells and the main room, it was usually locked just like the armory, a broom was a stick and she knew very well how easy it was to kill with a stick.

But since it was so late and the fact that she had passed by the cart janitors usually rolled around...

Gripping her axe near its head, she grabbed the handle of the door and listened inside as she moved closer to the door, hearing nondescript sounds, which sounded awfully small compared to the proximity.

Flinging it open, she found no one, only an object that shouldn't be on the floor.

Raising her head with deliberate slowness, she confirmed that this grate was coming from a vent that just so happened to be right above, she tilted her head, having never suspected such big vents to be a real thing outside of fiction.

She did her best to follow the vents, hitting up her axe against it to cause a reaction but her victim wasn't making a sound, as big as it was, it should still be difficult to traverse without a noise.

A suspicion rose in her mind but the sound of sirens outside took priority, the back-up the earlier officier had called had arrived, Lissy went toward them to take care of this obvious problem.

She wasn't the elusive kind like her father was, the police was an actual issue.

Outside, the few other officiers that made up the police force for this little city, which was really not to be considered a city, was standing not certain what to do.

Only two teams of two had been patrolling, the three others had to wake and come here, so they weren't very fresh and none of them was certain what was going on, they could see the corpse of their colleague but it wasn't laying down, it had somehow been strung up on the ceiling by his feet.

The blood from his wound had covered the ground in blood, it reflected the light given off by the van headlights and their own.

The sheriff looked at it and could definitely recognise it as that of the old man living in the woods with his daughter, he knew the old man because he came by to sell wood often enough and his daughter because she visited the station often as well.

He didn't quite know what to make of it, none of the two struck him as murderers and even less as people heinous enough to pose the body in such a way.

After a few moments, five of them moved in, the other two keeping watch outside.

One lingered in the reception behind the others, quite shocked by seeing a corpse.

He tried to keep on staying focused but it was too much and he retreated to a corner to puke.

The four other made their way into the main room, the sheriff tried to light up the room only to get shocked by electricity, keeping his eyes on the room, he hadn't noticed the switch and good portion of the wall had been torn down, he squinted his eyes, noticing that even if that hadn't been the case, the lights had been broken as well.

The two that were on patrol had their flashlights, so it wasn't much of an issue.

The sheriff wondered why someone would destroy everything like this while another officier checked whether the barred windows still held up as the other two started moving further into the station.

It only took a few seconds for two groups of two to form without anyone paying much attention to it.

The two of them noticed the open closet and saw the grate laying on the ground.

"Police! Is anyone there?" asked one of them and Linda responded back.

"Is she still there? Did you get her?!" she asked, doing her best to not come off as strangely calm, even then she was feeling as cold as ice.

Linda carefully got out of the vent, which she had never traveled into at all, simply climbing in and making herself small, the thing was so dirty that just this had completely covered in dust and webs.

One of the officiers escorted her back to the main room but the other continued to search deeper, not realising the danger he was putting himself in, perhaps he thought that Linda was the culprit and that it was just being careful.

However, arriving at the portion of the hallway where the cells where, after turning a corner, he saw someone laying on the ground, face first.

His first instinct was to put his gun away, noticing a puddle of blood forming around the person's head.

He flipped the person around, unable to scream as he noticed the bark mask as a hand grabbed his neck, pushing her thumb against his throat, crushing his windpipe before effortlessly pushing him back against the bars of a cell as he was too busy being unable to breath.

He fell on his ass, perfectly positioned in the way of the heavy door, Lissy closed it on face multiple time over, until his face had cracked a dozen of times, finishing even harder, closing the door despite his head being in the way.

She grabbed his flashlight and retrieved her axe, breathing out heavily as she went on her way.
