Dead End

The sheriff last throes seemed to go unnoticed, no lights and no one came out into the streets, all that happened were calls to the police that went unheard as no officiers remained.

The rusty van stopped in front of an alley, decorated only by some dumpsters overflowing with trash, surrounded by garbage thrown to the ground or that had fallen, the lumberjack stepped out of her vehicle.

Seemed like there was no way out for Linda this time, she had once again found herself in a dead end and no one seemed willing to bail her out this time.

The alley was mostly dark, stepping forward, Lissy moved slowly tapping the handle of her axe in her hand as she advanced, creeping up toward the end of the line of dumpsters, where Linda was most likely at.

A noise made her turn around, a dumpster opening, tilting her head, she wondered if Linda had hidden in there, getting an answer to her question instantly.

As something hit her in the back of her knees, making bend them before a hit struck her to the back of the head, making her put one knee down but Linda kept on hitting her like a madwoman until that plank she had found there broke under the heavy abuse it was subjected to.

Still, even after being battered with a two by four plank, the lumberjack wasn't done, yet, her hands may be on the ground but she showed signs that she was going to stand up again.

During the beating, Linda had hit her axe out of her hands, getting her hands on it, she raised it, ready to hack away at her assailant.

Getting back with one knee to the ground, Lissy turned her head toward Linda as she reached into her pocket.

In the same moment she took it out, the shot was already fired into Linda's shoulder, making fall back and let go of the axe, shot with her own gun, Lissy had kept it close to hand just in case.

Getting back on her two feet, she approached the squirming Linda, putting the gun back in her pocket, she grabbed her axe and pinned her victim in place by the neck, bringing the edge of the axe to Linda's forehead, swinging it slowly, as if trying to aim correctly.

For the first time ever, the lumberjack started making a sound, a humming as she was on the verge crack her skull open.

Linda bit down on whatever piece of flesh she could reach as she kicked at the lumberjack's ankle, making her narrowly miss the killing blow but the hit still left a ugly wound on linda's forehead.

Using the moment of imbalance, she pushed Lissy off of her and ignoring the blinding pain in her shoulder and forehead, she jumped on top of her and pushing her whole weight on her as she took hold of the gun in the pocket.

Lissy grabbed Linda's wrist, breaking it after forcing on it but it was too late already, Linda's fired all her shots blindly, all hitting the lumberjack, who went limp.

"Ah... Ahahah!" without meaning too, Linda laughed like crazy, barely believing that she was still alive.

When she tried to go away, she felt weak, her face was completely bloodied and her shoulder was still bleeding heavily, she felt like passing out right here and there.

She forced herself to walk, taking support against the wall, leaving a bloody trail as she stumbled out of the alley, she looked around, her sight blurry.

On the long road, she saw no one, no one had dared to go out and check what was happening, which was understandable but she would have wished otherwise right now.

Looking back into the alley, Linda fell on her butt from shock, the lumberjack was staring right at her, sat up and unmoving before looking to the side and once more, taking her axe up before standing up without any problem, despite the fact that the area where her lungs and heart having been filled with bullets, she didn't seem to notice or care.

Or so it appeared, she walked forward slowly, the metal part of the axe dragging against the ground as she moved.

Linda got up and tried getting away from what appeared as nothing more than a walking corpse but was intercepted by punch to the face, knocking her out as the owner of the fist shook his hand in the air.

Walking by her and moving toward the alley instead.

"I see you got shot for the first time, a few too many times..." said the old man as he helped his daughter walk.

"Don't worry, a little bit of rest and you'll feel as good as new!" he reassured her as he brought her to Linda.

"But first, finish her off" he pointed at the unconscious woman.

Lissy stepped forward, looking down upon her for a few moments before raising her foot and stomping down on her head, splattering blood and brain juice everywhere.

Lissy clumb up into the passenger seat and her father into the driver's, wiping sweat off of his forehead, he had had to walk from his house to there after all, they only had one car.

"Alright, let's go" he said, driving by the corpses of the policemen without batting an eye.

He was proud of her, it was a good first job.

He wouldn't have to worry about her too much.
