"You were not trained for you to attack the guards protecting my room." Catalina beamed as Gabriella came to a halt in front of her.
"Mother," Her voice almost trembled.
"Show some curtsy first!" The queen commanded.
Gabriella swallowed hard. Forcing herself to control her emotions, she lowered her head and came to a bow. When she rose, her words seemed forced out of her throat as she asked. "That note you had hidden when I came in the other day, who had it come from?"
The queen stood silent for a moment. "I...I told you it's nothing of importance?"
"I know you too well, Mother. You know you can't hide secrets from me." When the queen didn't say anything else, she revealed, "I also got one this morning. According to what is written, I believe the person who sent this knows our secret."
"What do you mean?"
"Take a look at this." Gabriella handed the notes to her.
