Lupus City's destruction has been ongoing ever since Uesugi Shuu has transmigrated into this world. The Honkai Beasts were the main forces, destroying buildings while zombies were awakened by the Honkai Energy emitted by the Honkai Beasts killing humans

Their sudden appearance greatly reduced the population of Lupus City and while there were survivors, many of them were hiding as the minority tried their best to escape as soon as possible.

However, their hopes were soon crushed, a blockade of Honkai Beasts surrounded the entire city, leaving not a single gap to escape from. The despairing humans were praying for god's blessings in the hope of a chance to survive

An ongoing battle was happening within the center of Lupus City. The two Valkyries were fighting a Honkai Beast, scraping its defense with their attacks

"Senpai, our reserves are gradually decreasing beyond our initial calculation, should we retreat?" The younger Valkyrie was holding a pair of guns aimed towards the Honkai Beasts. They shot out like regular bullets but at faster rates with stronger impact

"Temporary retreat, while it is a shame that we cannot rescue the people sacrificed, we must ensure our safety before eliminating the remnants of Honkai within the area" The older Valkyrie landed the final blow with her hammer before wiping the sweat off her face with an indifferent expression

"Understood" Both of the Valkyries retreated towards the outskirts of the city and hid inside an intact building, away from the Honkai Beast's attention

There were some zombies lingering nearby who noticed their presence but they were quickly killed without affecting their rest

They could still hear commotion echoing around the area, the stomps of Honkai Beasts rumbled as screams of help immediately dissipated along with their lives

The younger Valkyrie closed her eyes to avoid her concern for the people. "Stop it, I thought you already learned the basics of being a Valkyrie in St Freya Academy." She couldn't help but rebuke the restless Valkyrie.

While the younger Valkyrie did not know, the older one did. The second Honkai Eruption has caused major casualties and distress among the Schicksal personnel during the past 10 years. Their strongest S-Rank Valkyrie Cecilia Schariac has perished in battle along with many high-ranking Valkyries.

Even she thinks that before Honkai's defeat, humanity will lose with each sacrifice against a Herrscher. According to her knowledge, there's still a total of 11 eruptions that may happen in the future. This information left her in despair as she solely moved along with Schicksal's orders

While she was engrossed in her thoughts, her protege exclaimed "Huh, that child is in danger". She glanced at the child who confidently walked up towards a zombie.

His body and confidence did not match. The young boy looked handsome and without an exceptional physique. His black hair was covered in dust as he patted it before taking off his traveling bag.

Despite carrying a metal bat with him, he had no intention of using it as he approached the zombie with no guard. 

The two Valkyrie looked with interest as the younger one was ready to save the child before he got infected. Suddenly to their surprise, he dashed toward the zombie and swung his fist with vigor

'He's dead', popped up in their minds before they witnessed a mind-boggling scene. The zombie seemed incapable of dodging the incoming fist and was slugged in the face onto the ground. Then came a flurry of fists raining upon it as before each strike, its twitching body gradually began to lose function and rested in peace

Blood was splattered all over the zombie and the child. The child did not mind as he wiped the blood off his face before picking up his traveling bag. 

Just when he was approaching his bag, his ears twitched as he exclaimed "Come out whoever you are". He readied himself for combat but was more serious than before

The two Valkyries who were in stupor immediately recovered from their shock as they realized he heard the sound of their food dropping. They both faced each other before they nodded and headed out of the building

Never would they have thought that someone so young with no prior systematic training would be able to overpower a zombie and it seemed that he had a certain degree of Honkai Radiation Adaptability. 

There was only one thought going on in their minds 'Recruit him'. They approached the young boy with their gentlest smile while hiding their sincere (ulterior) motives.

The young child was Uesugi Shuu. After circling the outskirts of Lupus City, he gained enough battle experience to be called a 'rookie' in battle. Despite not having refined his battle techniques, he's capable of trouncing low-grade zombies. 

Of course, he heard the commotion near the center of the city and realized that Schicksal had deployed their Valkyrie to settle the mess. At first, he planned on ignoring them. He didn't want to become a research experiment of Otto Apocalypse, the main mastermind of initiating the Second Honkai Eruption for his selfish desires.

'Now that I think of it, the overpowered Chevaliers are the main antagonists of the story, whether it's Otto or Kevin Kaslana'. Uesugi jokingly thought before paying attention to the two Valkyries

He noticed the two when he discovered the zombie just now. The increase in INT's stats improved his cognitive and spatial awareness as if he could connect with the outside world before his initial stats. STR increases power, agility, and speed, control requires time and constant training to get used to for an artificial increase in stats.

These two factors allowed him to fight against zombies without taking damage as his reflexes can make his attacks unavoidable for zombies and this accounted for him not using [Focus]

"Greetings child, are you alone" The older Valkyrie with a smile said in a tone that looked like she was hitting on him. The younger Valkyrie blushed and thought 'This is the maturity of a woman'

Uesugi Shuu's eyes twitched before coughing, "Yes, after this entire mess, I have been alone, fighting these monsters'. He decided to act innocent and be ignorant of the existence of Honkai

The two Valkyries exchange glances again, reassured of his ignorance for it meant that no organization has realized his talent yet. 

"How about letting us take care of you," The younger Valkyrie said. Uesugi knew of their intention and had no plans of following them

He denied their good intentions and said hatefully "I'm sorry, I still need to defeat these monsters for destroying our city". His acting skills weren't so spectacular but with his age, the two women did not doubt his intentions

Both of them had eyes of approval and greatly approved of his behavior. Whether it becoming a Valkyrie or Chevalier, they needed loyalty for mankind to be worthy of being trusted by Schicksal, other organizations have looser requirements as individuals have their agenda

"As your sister, we can help you eliminate the remaining monsters". Trying to reassure him and pumping their fist on their chest causing the fat to jiggle

Uesugi blushed slightly and turned his face away. The Valkyries realized their actions and turned red as well. Uesugi tried to recollect his calm as he denied them again, "To tell you the truth, I just want to fight the monsters and get stronger, I can feel my strength increasing with each battle against them"

Lies had to be mixed with truth and false information. While this truth may be too extreme considering his age, the Valkyries did not think much as they accounted this to be a youth's passion

The persuasion continued for a while until a tremendous tremor happened within the center of the city. It was close to the last Honkai Beast that the Valkyries defeated as a hole in space appeared

'Portal', the three of them thought. The Valkyries glanced at each other before shouting "Child, hurry up and escape, we'll deal with the Honkai Beast that slips out". She accidentally slipped out their identity but none of them cared to notice as their expressions became severe

The size of the portal exceeded the usual Honkai Beasts' size that terrorized the city. It emitted Honkai Energy nearing an Emperor Class level. This level of Honkai Beast requires multiple teams of B-Rank Valkyries or a single A-Rank Valkyrie

While they are capable of dealing with Seraph-Class and Chariot-Class Honkai Beast. An Emperor Class can easily squash them like ants. 

While they realized their situation, they could not retreat. Despite being nervous, they meticulously took out their communication devices and requested reinforcements

The younger Valkyrie also took out a device similar to a Geiger Counter and aimed it towards the portal. Signals fluctuated continuously before forming a certain number, "500 HW".

Aghast expressions appeared on the Valkyrie's faces as Uesugi realized the severity of the situation. 

500 HW can either mean two options, the first would mean a stronger Emperor Class Honkai Beast. Even a weak Emperor Class can annihilate them without a trace let alone something stronger. The second option would be a horde of Honkai Beast.

While the hordes would not exceed an Honkai Eruption that can number 100,000, Lupus City is done for. Remnants of Honkai energy will corrupt nearby humans into zombies, meaning the surrounding area would become a base for Honkai

Their previous vigor and stand became hesitant. No matter how strong an individual is, they can still be trampled by numerous amounts of ants, let alone three ants against them all

The two valkyries immediately took out their communication devices while grabbing Uesugi before retreating without looking back.

"HQ, ignore the reinforcement deployment and request for a first-class meeting for A-Rank and S-Rank Valkyries to be deployed. A portal has been detected with a total of 500 HW and we will observe from a far distance for real-time reports" 

Due to the high levels of Honkai Energy, the communication device seemed faulty as the reply became jagged up.

"Under--- we--- shall--- ready--- meeting". It was then that the tremor grew stronger with the appearance of a Templar-Class Honkai Beast

Unlike the normal Honkai Beasts which were like armored Mammoth, the Templar-Class was a figure shaped like a knight with moth wings, white armor, and a shield capable of blocking physical attacks below A-Rank

B-Rank Valkyries can defeat them as long they bypass the shield, but Templar Honkai Beasts possess far greater physical abilities than a normal B-Rank Valkyrie

This was not the end as the tremors slowly increased with the arrival of another 11 Templar Honkai Beasts.

Everyone in Lupus City had pale faces as they struggled to withstand the corruption of Honkai Energy

Even the two Valkyries had haggard breaths, despite being B-Rank Valkyries

These are the reasons human wave tactics don't work on Honkai Beasts, as have more numbers compared to humans with resistance to Honkai Energy
