Chapter 9   Are you afraid of being the mistress or just can't let go of Isaac Thompson?

Amelia's words were like a scoop of cold water being poured over his head, extinguishing even the most raging fire.

No matter how many memories they shared, love or hate, the reality lay before them.

He was married, with a wife and family.

No matter the reason, she shouldn't get involved with him again.

Daniel Cooper looked at her seriously, his handsome face revealing no emotion. After all, he was a mature man six years older than her, far more poised and composed in strategy than she was.

He asked her, "Are you afraid of being a mistress, or are you unwilling to let go of Isaac Thompson?"

Amelia raised her hand to slap him, but he grabbed her wrist, giving her a disdainful look. "You're still so impulsive in your twenties, not at all grown-up."

Without thinking, she retorted, "Even if I haven't made any progress, I'm still better than you, you despicable, shameless b*stard!"

She had said this many times. Daniel stared into her eyes and suddenly sneered, "Dare you curse me one more time?"

"I wouldn't hesitate to curse you a hundred times. You really are a despicable, shameless b*stard... Ah—"

Daniel suddenly pulled her into his arms, deftly pinning her arms behind her back so she couldn't move.

Looking at her with no warmth in his eyes and a smile, he said, "Your intelligence hasn't improved, but your temper sure has. Maybe you've forgotten that there are consequences for laying a hand on me."

Amelia was forced to sit on his wet pant legs, blocking the light from above. In the dim shadows, his gaze remained fixed on her, the intensity in his eyes exactly as she remembered it.

Uncontrollable memories flooded her mind, this scene having played out countless times before.

He knew she had practiced martial arts since childhood and often dared her to use them. Yet when she did, he relentlessly returned the attack in his own ways.

When their relationship was good, it was seen as playful; but now, it felt like a real punishment.

It was all her fault for losing control in the heat of the moment.

This ambiguous position made her uncomfortable, but she had no choice but to grit her teeth and continue. Pressing against him, she whispered, "I'm not feeling well tonight, please let my dad proceed with the surgery first. I'll accompany you some other time, okay?"

Daniel didn't change his expression, releasing her pinned wrist and placing his hand on her back, slowly caressing her. With a smirk, he asked, "Delaying tactic?"

Feeling exposed, she lowered her head awkwardly. Her cheek accidentally brushed against his handsome face, and she quickly turned away. Suddenly, the man's hand on her back grabbed the back of her head.

Caught off guard, Amelia was kissed.

His anger came out of nowhere, his mood shifting faster than flipping a page. The restraint she had held onto all night was instantly burned away by his rage, and she fiercely punched and bit him.

Daniel let her vent until she tired herself out and her eyes slowly reddened.

He bit the corner of her lips and muttered a warning, "Amy, I've told you before, you can't judge people just by looking at them. Some may seem like good people, but their hearts are full of filthy calculations."

Unable to act anymore, Amelia's heart and eyes filled with sarcasm. "You keep talking about others being dirty, but are your own actions any cleaner?"

Her words seemed to provoke Daniel, who suddenly changed his expression, turned her over on the sofa, and began tugging at her bathrobe.

Amelia panicked, her tears of frustration finally flowing. Desperately holding onto her bathrobe, she reminded him once more, "Daniel Cooper, don't forget, you have a family and a wife now. You're married!"
