Lily's POV - 17

"Umm, I was eating. I plan on sleeping afterwards," I explained in one breath, only to hear his sigh at the other end. "I just got home, actually."

Why am I explaining myself to him? Lucien didn't need to know a minute by minute basis of how I lived my life, and yet, there was this part of me that wanted to tell him everything.

Annoyed with myself, I waited in silence for his next words and after a while, I heard him sigh. "Why are you just getting home? I told you to go home since, so what delayed you?"

"I was with my friend, and…wait besides, aren't you supposed to still be at the party? Why does it sound quiet?"

"I'm the one asking the questions, Lily," he responded, and a frown etched on my face.

"And I want to ask one of my own," I quickly cut back, before I began to overthink it. When he remained silent, I continued, "What happened?"
