Chapter 1 of chapter 8 : None different in black and white

NARRATIVE CONTINUE...

"I'm too late?" Lady Emily asked, looking exclusive as always, with two maids hangs behind her as her escorts.

"No, not at all Lady Emily" Lady Pearl answered and sat back on her couch.

Marcus takes only a glanced at her and back to his map reading.

"It seems I'm not welcomed by my brother"

Marcus still playing deaf ears to her words, she was attended to, the same way Lady Pearl was treated by the maids on duty.

She finds herself a lovable couch to sit on feeling eligible for it as if it was a given award.

"So, how was the preparation coming lady pearl?"

"Well, everything will be in place before his arrival" Pearl replies splendidly, hands warps together as a dedicated woman she always seems herself.

"When he comes back? Is that excuse!" Lady Emily roars, pulling off her hand gloves.

"Will you please calm down, we still have three more days to prepare before his arrival and there is a time to work on that everyone has been quite busy during his arrival announcement" Lady Pearl tried to explain her facts to her.

"You said quite busy? What maids are quite busy cause all I can see are annoying human beings you got as servants!"

Marcus stayed calm allowing the ladies to go on with their argument. Didn't inch out a word.

"Ever since you lean in those terrible maids you called servants, one thing always goes wrong or the other especially that black slave with blue ugly eyes"

"Shut the hell up, Lady Emily!" She stood up looking furious, "would you respect, no of my maidens are slaves rather black or white!"

"Wow, that impressive" she claps her hands at Lady Pearl display, "I forgot you're once one of them, the slaves" she smirks devilish, stood up, and face her,

A face to a face

"There's no difference between you and them, right? Lady Pearl?" She whispered

"Emily!" Marcus thundery called her name, looking angry the way her sister addressed Lady Pearl

"You better stop this nonsense now!"

"Why should I? Were you not here when she started it all? You always take her side instead of her sister, Marcus!"

Marcus stands up from his couch, bows down his head before Lady Pearl, showing his sincere apology to her.

"Please forgive her insolence acts," he said,

"What'? Does my insolence act? She's not even a member of the lordship and you bow to her? What rubbish!"

Lady Pearl didn't utter a word to her, she was wearing her coast back by one of the maids and left the chamber room. While still going she can hear Lady Emily's voice arguing with her brother.

That Emily will never change.

Lady Pearl Pov.......

In all  my life, they have always thought of me as a slave because I was bought up by one

Which her name was Lady Alexandra!

She's was one of the black women I know and I have met, she never gives up that easily despite the fact of being black, she stood her steps stronger than the iron.

She taught me all I need to know, how to runs a business and until this day she was one of the successful women in the society

Until these days, her name still rings on my ears, a black woman of strength

Making me know one thing there is no difference between black and white! All are one!

I lost everything during the war, no family and no one to help

Alone all by myself, I become a thief to the street. A pickpocket, always get caught and beaten up like a mad dog. Since I can't relate with others without taking from them, I move myself to where I lost my family to the war, I went there for the death to take my life. There is no hope of living again. Then she came up to me, weeping alone in the bloody land.

"Hey, little what's the problem?" Lady Alexandra said to me.

I look up with my watery eyes on her, hungry and tired. "Please I need food " I pleaded

She grins at me and bought out a loaf of bread from the little basket she was carrying.

"Here my dear, bit on it" she smiled, I surprisingly stared at her,

Did she mean it or playing a test on me to accuse me of stealing?

"I'm not going to accused you of that, here eat" she said, assuming she was reading my mind, what? I look at her again with both eyes widened in believe and amazed. A black wants to help me? The thought of that drives shrivers down my veins.

What if she poison the bread, I know Black are slaves and nothing more just like my father said, they might being trying to get their revenge on us.

The woman saw I wasn't planning to take the bread soon or later. So, she takes off a bit from it and ate right in front of me.

"Now do you believe me?" She asked, I clear up my eyes with both hands, she's indeed different, papa was wrong about black

I smiled and took the bread from her and start eating, I start eating fast because the hungry was so unbearable to hold.

"Slow down my dear" She sat behind me, chocking from the rush of eating, immediately, she brings out a water bottle from her basket again.

"Here my dear have some" she gave it to me.

I took it and drank from it,

I felt so relief, she stands up, dusting herself and was about to leave.

"Madam!" I called, she turns at me

"Yes my dearest"

"Please, can I go with you?"

"What about your parents will they agree to that? For their daughter to go on with an unknown woman?"

I muted, silently to myself, she's right. She is unknown woman I bearly know but I had no choice even if she was  unknown to me but she was the only who helped me despite the color race, she still show me kindness.

"I don't have parents but I have chosen to go with you as your daughter not a stranger"

The woman shockingly glared at me, she was amazed by my act and the way I talked to her.

Very impressive!

"Okay, daughter let's go but we have a long way to go"

"Don't worry mother, anywhere you go I go"

I stood up quickly, grabs off the basket from her and start walking, she smiles and follow.

We walked from about a hour before getting to her house, Her house seem old and rust from the outside but the inside seem nice.

I jumped on the bed to feel it softly on my butt, feeling so happy I don't have to sleep outside again and I'm going to sleep on a comfortable bed.

She watched me and laughed, feeling the joy of a mother, it true children always loved to mess up things.

She went to the kitchen with basket, start cooking dinner for us to have.

She bath me up, clean me and feed me

She was just a mother to me, by accepting me as her child.

After two years of the war, things began going back to normal. Children start going to school and parents going to work.

I and Miss Alexandra, stayed at home all day planting on crops, over this two years, she had turn that her little spot to a big farmland.

All she wants to do, send me to school and become a great woman in the future.

It's wasn't easy for her to run the farmland all by herself with the little help I offered. Sometimes, she would be on the rain weeding, making sure the swamp don't wash away her hard work.

Keeping me in to feel warm,

Trading her crops to the white was the hardest for her, since she was black it wasn't easy to get a trusted white to trade with.

But she never gives up even though thing fell apart along the way, she stood still and fight her way out as the black gorgeous woman she had always be.

She gets all she wanted within four months of the new yard and send me to the best  school with all she have, inorder for me to achieve the best.

Although she was wealthy through her crops still they address her as slave even training a white kid there are abuses of words to condemn her image and ruin her down.

She always speaks a parable to me

In an African tough when I told her, we should run away from this country.

"Running away don't solve anything but worst thing for us, the solution to our problems is in our hands, it just for a man to make the first step and others will follow. That's how life works"

She died right in my hands....
