His Eyes

All around the kingdom Vastei joyous voices rang. "A prince has been born! All hail the King!" Someone had shouted. Children laughed, adults made merry in the sunny afternoon light. Yet there was one that had disappointment written on him. A fourteen year old boy with platinum blonde hair and eyes covered by a black cloth. Dressed in a loose-fit buttoned shirt and brown cloth trousers the boy ran through the crowds, a large cat right behind him as he was heading towards the castle at the edge of the valley of which the village was built on.

Chapter 5

They had just made it out of the town when Rina started up again.

"Ugh, my feet are already killing me!" the girl whined.

"Well if you were prepared you wouldn't have worn those shoes." Raivis mocked.

"He is right," Baga commented," You shouldn't have worn your loafers."

"See, Baga areegs with me, you're an idiot." Raivis said as Sigurd purred in agreement.

"I never said that!" Baga shouted embarrassed and turned to Rina" Anyways, I figured you would regret your choice so I brought these."

Baga stopped and pulled out a pair of brown leather boots, well, walking boots to be exact, out of his large bag. He handed them over to Rina who muttered a 'thanks', Baga's eyes sparkled like emeralds with the praise and he smiled a large one. Rina stopped and sat down on a nearby fallen log to change out her shoes.

"Thank you again, Baga." Baga somehow managed to smile even wider as this.

"Your welcome! Do you want to put your loafers in my bag? There's some space now if you want."

"Sure," She said with a slight smile.

Then again they walked slowly down the path leading out to town to the Shavadein forest.

"This is already taking forever and it's way to boring, isn't there a quicker route boy?" Rina said, irritated.

"Number one my name isn't 'boy' it's Raivis and two the quickest way to Yqelenk is this way, unless you want to travel through the forest which I wouldn't suggest."

"Well why not!" she said sarcastically," We are already gonna be walking all night might as well make it worth our while and get as far as we can!"

"The forest is dangerous, we should stay clear of it." He said stopping in his tracks to turn towards the girl.

"Listen boy this is my quest, and you are my guide not the leader." She sneered.

"Alright. But you are responsible if anyone gets killed." Raivis said seriously, turned any started walking with Sigurd by his side.

"What do you mean killed?" Baga trembled.

"Not even King Karahn of the Elves would go in that forest, do you still want to go?"

"If it gets us there quicker," she thought for a second, "Yes."

Raivis halted, "Very well then."

Baga was handed the map when he caught up to the other boy, once again leaving Rina alone. The clouds were dark casting the sun out of the sky. Slowly the sun set.

It was night before they made it to the edge of the forest. Raivis picked up Sigurd and placed him so that the feline was sitting on the bag that he was carrying on his back. It was just the right height for Sigurd to rest his head on his owner's shoulder to rest.

They slowly started making their way through the dark and dense bushes and thistles, Rina, who lost at Baga's little game was in charge of using a large knife to clear the path for her and the others. Raivis on the other hand just had to hold the small oil lamp they had brought.

Baga and Raivis made small talk as Rina took her time cutting through the brush. Then, they heard a scream.
