Still Listening

"Who was that, Mel?" Mom asked as soon as I returned to the living room.

 "Justin, the vocalist of the band I previously told Mom about!"

 Mom smiled at me. Oh, come on. Mom's smile is very strange.

 "Why is he here?"

 "He wants to ask for a number, while apologizing for being unfriendly to me. That's really weird, Mom! When he immediately changed his mind, and became nice to me because I'm a Roulette kid. Isn't that weird?"

 Mom chuckled.

 "How strange is your friend?"

 "Oh no, he's not Mel's friend! Melody vehemently rejects fickle boys like her!"

 This time, Mom's laughter sounded so loose.

 I love seeing Mom laugh like that. But I was confused because I didn't know what Mom was laughing at.

 Isn't this quite confusing?

 "That's it. Don't laugh anymore. It's already late, Mom! It's so scary to laugh at this night!" I tried to stop Mom's laughter.
