"So Alfred, you never made mention about how you knew about some school in Land Climax. I mean, have you been to Land Climax before?" Romeo asks as the duo walk along the mountainous path while trailing the train tracks since they thought that would be a more faster and efficient way to get to the Spatial Port.
Alfred didn't reply, rather, he also asks a question of his own, "How come you never told me about the kind of Carnal Gene you possess seeing that I asked you just this morning?"
Romeo was tongue tied as he mentally search for while scratching the back of his neck. Seeing that he couldn't refute Alfred question, Romeo decided to change the topic.
"So about this school you mentioned, is it just some small setup that oversees the development of the Carnal Gene for personal gains or what?" Romeo inquires. He was really curious about the school Alfred made mention of but for some unknown reason, Romeo keeps forgetting to asks even though he had been with Alfred all morning.
"Trust me when I tell you Romeo, the school I told you about is one that you would like.I am not speaking based on referral by someone but by the experience I have been able to gather during my days in the school." Alfred explains such that Romeo seem more intrigue in Alfred than the school.
"Wait a minute. Did you just indirectly say that you once lived in Land Climax?!" Romeo questions with shock evident in his tone, "If so, then why did you come to live in the slums when you have a good life going on for you?" Romeo narrows his gaze as he stares at Alfred deeply as though like he was staring into his soul.
As Romeo said those words, the solemn expression on Alfred's face deepen as a flicker of sadness and anger appears in his eyes. Alfred shook his head slightly before letting out a sigh.
"There are certain unfortunate circumstances surrounding my desire to live in the slums." Alfred replies, bitterness is etched in the tone he use to speak.
Romeo stops in his track as he ponders on the words of Alfred. "What do you mean by unfortunate circumstances? Did you do something wrong?"
"You ask a lot of questions boy. Most especially, questions that have nothing to do with you." Alfred replies as he walks past Romeo. "Come on now, we've got a Spatial Port to get to." Alfred beckons causing Romeo to follow him.
"I am just curious. Since you once lived in Land Climax, why would you want to live in the slums especially since the years that I have known you?" Romeo asks, an indication that he is not ready to let the matter go.
Alfred promptly send a piercing glare towards Romeo which caused him to immediately swallow the words that he was about to speak.
"Do you want to get to Land Climax or not? If not, then I don't mind turning back to go to the slums." Alfred said before walking away from Romeo towards the location of the slums.
"Okay, okay. I promise I won't ask any more questions." Romeo grabbed Alfred's arm causing him to stop, "So can we proceed to the Spatial Port now. I swear I would keep shut and won't disturb you." Romeo promised with a pleading look on his face.
Though he is curious enough to want to know about this unfortunate circumstances that Alfred was talking about, he is more determined to get to Land Climax. For some reason, he believes that getting to that land marks the beginning of something big for him.
Ever since Romeo has discovered his Carnal Gene, which by the way was only the previous day, Romeo had kept on wondering about what he would do next. Having lived in the slums for eighteen years of his whole life, he is itching to go on an adventure. An itch to discover the world outside the slums but most importantly, an itch to get revenge on those who took everything from him.
All of these are things Romeo can't accomplish if Alfred decides to turn back now. Since the old man has chosen to give him a chance to accomplish his life's mission, Romeo knows better than to waste it while trying to figure out the dark past of someone else.
The duo soon resume their journey but this time, as Romeo had said, he didn't speak which made the atmosphere between them awkward. For some reason, Romeo is finding it difficult to keep his mouth mute as he ponders on some of the things Alfred might knows.
"How far are we from the Spatial Port?" Unable to keep his mouth shut anymore, Romeo decided to ask in order to start a conversation. The silence was killing him.
"Not far any longer. We will be there soon." Alfred assured.
"Are you sure? We have been walking for the past one hour now Alfred, I am starting to think there really is no Spatial Port around this area." Romeo complains much to the displeasure of Alfred who glares at Romeo once again.
"Not that I am trying to weaken the morale here Alfred but look around you..." Romeo paused as he shows the deserted mountainous path they are treading, "There is nothing here. If there was, don't you think we would have found it."
"You know you are starting to irk me right. If you are so impatient to the extent that you don't want to get to Land Climax anymore, then it is fine with me. I suggest we go back to the slums now." Alfred said while raising a brow as he waits for Romeo to reply.
Romeo heave an heavy sigh. "How sure are you that there really is a Spatial Port here? I mean, I have never heard about a Port around this area before so how would you know?" Romeo questions.
"You are right Romeo, no one knows about the existence of a Spatial Port in the slums but I think you should be able to figure out the reason." Alfred replies.
"What do you mean? Why else would a Spatial Port be hidden from the sight of those living in the slums?" Romeo questions bewildered.
"You know that THRIVE and other Carnal Shifters consider the people living in the slum as outcast right?" Alfred asks to which Romeo simply nods his head. "This same reason that those living in the slums are considered as outcast is the same reason why the Spatial Port is hidden from their sight."
Romeo pursed his lips as a realization dawn on him. "What you are trying to say is that the Spatial Port was hidden so that we won't be able to leave the slums?"
"Yes Romeo. You are quite correct. The reason the Spatial Port is hidden is because those living in the slums won't be able to leave, even if they desired to."
"If that was the case then why build the Port in the first place. What benefit is the Port providing if it can't be use for transportation?" Romeo asks while creasing his brows.
"Just because we are not permitted to go out doesn't mean that others are not permitted to come in." Alfred stated as a matter of fact.
"What does that statement mean, alfred?"
"THRIVE was the creator of the Spatial Port. However, what you don't know is that even if those in the slums are considered as outcast, THRIVE believes that no life should be wasted when they can be controlled to serve the greater good."
"Controlled? What do you mean controlled? I thought THRIVE already rule the planet so what is the need for control?" Romeo's brows knotted tightly as he asks Alfred this question. There really is a lot of things he doesn't understand.
"You ask too much questions Romeo, and the answer to all of them would be that when the time comes, you shall figure it out." Alfred concluded before moving forward. "Now, let us continue with our journey lest we get there late due to your loquaciousness."
"I thought you said that those from the slums are not allowed to go through the Spatial Port, how then did you expect us to get to Land Climax?"
"I said those from the slums. As you've figured out, I am not from the slums which means I might still be able to get through the Spatial Port. Also, in this world, there is nothing a Beast Core can't buy." Alfred smiles while answering.
"You are probably right. After all, who doesn't want to live a life with a few Beast Cores?" Romeo said knowingly as they walk along.
