The Duty of a Daughter to a Mother Comes First

A week pass since our wedding and I still could not get used to being called empress. I had bodyguards around me every minute I step out of my room. Bai and Ai were still my servants, but we could not spare anymore.

I walked towards my window, looking at the sun slowly coming up. I didnt not like being in the palace honestly, it was starting to suffocate me. I looked behind me and saw Bai and Ai looking a me, petrified to add.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You know the king might go berserk if he found out" Bai said, Ai nodding with agreement.

"Dont worry, I'll handle that. I need to get something from my fathers house and I'm not allowed to leave without my bodyguards and they will ruin everything if they come with me. I need to do this with you two" I said, taking off my gown and putting on a black suit. They sighed and also followed my action.

It was still dawn and Weishang was asleep in his room. I requested to keep my room for 'personal issues' like these. I do sleep there but I needed to go fetch what my mother had told me to.

I opened the door silently, checking if the coast was clear. I signalled Bai and Ai and they followed me silently.

We got to the gate and climbed the gate. We got to the other side and ran towards the stables. We paid the owner and rode the horses to my home.

We put the horses outside and walked towards the gate. Bai knocked and the gate man opened. "Your highness!" He said bowing. "Uncle Zhang, you should not. Your an elder, I'm just here to check something. Where is everyone?"

"Well you highness, your father is asleep, also Fa Ting's family is asleep and your grandfather is in his office. Your uncle's family is away, but will be back soon" he said.

"That's okay, you should not bother them. Please do not inform them of my visit for this us a private matter" I said to him sternly. He nodded and let me pass through.

We walked quietly towards the trees in the back garden. I walked towards the middle of forest. "Bai, boost my up" I whispered. Bai nodded. She boosted me up and I felt something. I took it and jumped off her shoulders.

In my hand was a small jade box. It had Fa Ting's family crest on it. I covered it and indicated for Bai and Ai that we should go. They nodded. We walked swiftly towards the gate and bid Uncle Zhang.

We got on the horses and got on with our journey back home. The sun was almost seen and we needed to hurry. We gave the man back his horses and ran towards the palace.

"I know a short cut" Ai squealed, as she pointed towards the back of the palace. We got in throughout the hole and ran towards my room. There was nobody in sight for the least to say.

I opened the door and we all ran in and closed it behind us. We were out of breath and tried to catch it for a mere moment.

"I see that your back my dear" a voice said, making me freeze for a moment. "Were doomed" I heard Bai whispered as we turned around and saw Weishang sitting comfortable on my bed, having a book by him. "Yes, we are dommed" Ai mumbled.

They both rushed to kneel. "Your majesty, spare us" Bai said. "Yes, spare us your majesty. We were following the expresses ordered like you have told us" Ai said.

"Both of you are spared. Leave us. I will call you when I'm done" he said. Bai and Ai got up and rushed out of the room. I was left with the Dragon himself. I gulped my saliva and walked towards him.

"Not even a month has passed, yet my little flower decides to be courageous" he says getting up and walking towards me.

"A daughters duty to her mother comes first. Whether its a death wish or a gift, it always comes first" I replied backing up a little.

"Even be for her husband's duty as a wife?" He asked me as he got closer and closer. I nodded, not hesitating one bit.

"What duty do I owe you, for you have abandoned this mere wide of yours for your throne" I mumbled, while stalling backing up. I felt my back hit the wall and Weishang closer to my face than he was before.

"I see my wife has been feeling neglected. But that does not give you the right to put your mother before me" he whispered into my ears. I closed my eyes, wanting Lianhua Zhanfang to take me to her. But that didn't happen.

"Since you have done your duty as a daughter, now do your duty as a wife" he said and kissed my lips.
