I can feel Grace bursting with nerves, and by default, I too turn into a bag of nerves.

"please calm down, I can't relax or concentrate when you are like that." I hiss into my head.

"You know nothing good ever comes from the forbidden tree, or Quarter moon pack and it's alpha." She defended.

I hasten my step, trying to get to my Den as quickly as possible. I don't even have the time to take a bath. I only had the chance to change out of my work out gear and into my battle one. It was still spandex that stayed glued to my body, in case I needed to let Grace out. But I have weapons with me. My battle gear had room for at least two guns, all of which are filled with normal bullets, won't harm them, only giving me enough time to launch a surprise attack.

"Well, someone our mate, did they not?" I ask Grace aloud as I find a jacket to put on top of my outfit. Hiding the guns perfectly.

Grace growled in response. Even if he was not technically hurt since for some reason the guy is a pro at cheating death.

"Exactly. I'm doing this to find out who did that, and make them pay."

I walk in the direction of the council meeting room. I notice that I was already missing the human even if I have been apart from him in no more than thirty minutes. I missed him so much, it hurt. I scoff. This mate thing is hilarious, I could not stand the guy for more than two seconds, yet I wanted him, I wanted to rip him apart, yet I missed him the minute I was away from him. Well played moon goddess, well played.

"M. Noah the leader of Ginny, and Patrick the leader of Isine offered to follow you." The guard from earlier reported back to me as soon as my feet stepped into the building.

I nod in appreciation.

"Are they in there?" I nod towards the closed meeting room.

"Yes, they are."

"Bring me our ambassador." I order and continue to the meeting room.

The big hall was empty, save for the two leaders who offered themselves to follow me.

"Gentlemen, thank you for coming on such short notice." I greet as I stand between them. They both tower above me by a lot, they did not even like me, so them offering up their services had to do with a personal vendetta.

"I should do this for the people of Ginny. If the city supposed to keep the town safe cannot keep one of her citizens safe, we can't boast about keeping the pack safe." Noah responded with his gruff voice. I could hear the annoyance in his voice, this time not directed at me, thankfully.

"And the people of Isine are the packs hunters. We cannot let our brother, no matter who he is, be a prey to them." Patrick sneered.

I knew it was for their egos and what not, but they were here. They won't let any thing happen to me.

"Very well. We won't be on the attacking side today." I tell them.

There was a knock on the door, in time to silence whatever argument they might have had.

"It is the ambassador." A quiet voice said from outside the room.

"Come in."

The door swung open to reveal a young girl of around my age. I never met her before since there was no reason to. I never had to reason with another pack before.

"Good day, M, leader of Ginny, leader of Isine." She greeted.

Her voice was prim and proper and that shows just how trained she was. One family in each pack has been the designated ambassador for generations unend. Once the previous ambassador cannot, for any reason, function as an ambassador, they hand down the responsibility to one who has been trained from birth.

"My name is Abby Harrington. I am the Crescent moon pack's ambassador." She bowed slightly.

"Nice to meet you Abby. Have you been in contact with Quarter moon pack?" i ask.

"Yes I have. They are expecting your arrival."

"Good. Did they say anything else?" I ask.

"Only that Alpha Rufus was not pleased with the information."

Patrick cursed under his breath.

"What if he does not grant us safe passage into his pack?" Noah asked.

"I readied gifts for this. Ones he cannot refuse. His weakness, fine wine from the human world." Abby continued.

My stomach dipped at the mention of human. I almost got him out if my mind. It seems I was going crazy in his stead.

"Great. Let us start going. Or else, we will be forced to spend the night there." I say as a joke, but everybody else shivered in disgust.

"Remember, we are going to find out what happened to Frank Cook. Not start a war we won't be able to handle." I warn as I start out of the room.

Rides were already waiting for us outside. Two vehicles, I decide to ride with Abby, the other two rode together, while their army follow us on foot.

"I haven't seen you before today." I tell Abby, who sat beside me so still it reminded me of the human. Great, now every little thing reminds me of the human.

"Yes, we took different classes in school, and i took over from my aunt as ambassador at the same time you became alpha. Our paths have not had any need to cross before today."

"You never expected me to call you." I state plainly.

"As a matter of fact, yes I did not."

I sensed a little hostility from her to me, which was not there in the council meeting room. I knew most people did not like me back at my pack but seriously, she could try to be a little friendly. I had enough on my plate as it is.

"Can I ask why?"

"No you can not." She stated. All the while her eyes were shut tight.

I scoff. All the moon goddess ever did for me was sit in her high and mighty chair, and then send me the ones with the crazy attitudes.

"I'm still going to ask, whether you like it or not. Why?"

She sighed as if very exhausted. Suddenly her eyes flew open and I'm met with furious eyes. Very furious eyes.

"You are a female. In a position that has been occupied by males for centuries now. You are a breath of fresh air. Yet you fear them. You fear what they will do to you. You fear using your position, always thinking about what they will say."

I open my mouth to say it was not true but she was not done.

"Don't give me that sorry excuse. I have seen the way you act around Erin. Like you are scared someone will see something and treat you differently—like they aren't already doing that."

My eyes bulged. Who was this girl and who gave her the right to speak to me like that?

"They fear you Millicent. They know you are ten times more powerful than they will ever be. I am sick and tired of watching you act like this. What people fear, they try to bring down. They are trying to bring you down and you are letting them. You are ALPHA Millicent, they are your subordinates. Act like it." Her eyes shut once again. Her posture calm as if she did not just call me out for all of my fears.

I chuckle.

"We should be friends." I tell her.

Her eyes open again, this time they looked at me in curiosity.

"I can't be friends with you." She grumbled finally.

"Because I act tough even though I'm scared shitless and somehow you can see through me?"

"Because you are too close with my mate."

This time my eyes bulged.

"Your mate is Erin?"

She blushed beet red, for the first time since I saw her, she lost all of her composure.

"Awwwn. Is that the real reason you hate me?"

"Hate? I don't hate you. I only pitied you. Then got angry at you."

Erin and her together? They were both very quiet, but Abby had spark and could tell people off.

"I only know all of this because I felt a pull to Erin and he didn't because he is not old enough yet. I decided to watch him from a distance till when he is eighteen. Turns out you guys are inseparable."

Her eyes flashed at that part.

"Don't worry, we are like siblings to each other. Trust me." I laugh.

"You have no idea how it feels to be the only one feeling the pull and everything, while the other person is clueless." She sighed.

You have no fucking clue dear Abby. No clue at all.
