She willed her mind to cooperate with her mouth and talk but it refused.

She thumped the ground in frustration after Kristin's departure.

'Let her go. You aren't a lesbian, you won't give her what she wants,' one voice shouted but another shouted that she should stop Kristin even if it wasn't for a romantic relation.

Four days later.

Pain. That's the first thing Carey felt when he opened his eyes. His head was throbbing and he couldn't lift his hands to hold his head as there were many machines connected on his body.

He saw, in images of two, a police officer seated in the room and gasped. He tried sitting up but he couldn't so he gave up and continued lying down.

He watched silently as the officer pressed the intercom to call a doctor, who rushed into the room shortly after.

For a few minutes or so, the doctor examined Carey, as the officer looked on.
