CHAPTER 41

Work resumed as usual and Skai remained focused in her office, doing what she knew how to do best.

Her fingers glided easily on the keyboard while her focus remained on the laptop screen in front of her, squinting to cross-check a particular paragraph.

Skai heaved a deep sigh, her mind completely out into it.

When she returned home the previous day, she was too busy thinking about how her discussion went with Jared that she failed to place a call through to Damien nor respond to his last text message.

After everything he'd done, Skai wasn't so keen to lean into his side anymore. The smiles in her face as she remembered Jared was more than enough to get her through the day.

Or so she thought.

Slam!

Her fingers paused their movement on her keyboard. Her heart skipped a beat, her shoulders tensed at the unexpected sound.
