Where did you get it from" they both asked.

"We clearly know that you just received your last month's salary recently."

"Yes, I know that."

"Then where did you get the money from?"

"I went to do some work with a friend, and I got paid."

"and what type of work is that?" she asked, immediately staring deep into my eyes to find any traces of lies.

"mom will you stop questioning me and take the money," I said, trying not to sound guilty.

"what is the money for?"

"Your medication." I replied.

"I don't need any medication. I'm perfectly fine and alright." Mom responded while she shook her head. But it was obvious that she wasn't.

"Mom, I think you need the money, because you don't seem fine at all." Lina, trying to convince her, said while she placed

mom's hand in between hers.

Lina's pov

Mom was hiding the fact that she was suffering from Adenocarcinoma (lung cancer). And her condition was getting worse. I had gone to discuss with the family doctor about mom's condition and the doctor said she had just five years. The doctor said it would cost $10,000 to cure mom's cancer.

When Richard had brought out the $30 note, I knew he must have gotten the money from an illegal job. Still, I tried to stay positive, because that wasn't important at the moment.

"Mom, please just take the money, OK? You might need it, who knows", I told her, trying to convince her.

"Mom, I have something to tell you. Something important."

"ok. What is it?" she responded, poking her meal with the spoon in her hand.

" Do you remember when i told you about the wastenhill examination?"

" Yes i do. what about it?"
