"You don't appear having a good time." Lily said.

Cristy gave a smirked. "You can't have a good time if everyone in the room is staring at you."

She'd noticed how the girls teased her and how the guys looked down on her. They looked at her; she could tell that they didn't like her as William's mate. "Why me? What made him pick me?"

"People's beliefs and feelings don't matter. You are his mate already. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can alter it." Lily respond. Cristy was surrounded by Lily's protective embrace.

"I'm not ready for this." Cristy said.

"You should not rise from the ground. William had a different opinion."

"Dancing isn't making things better for me," Cristy respond. She rushed over and kissed her goodbye.

While she's walking, a petite woman wearing a long dress stopped her from returning to the table.

"Excuse me," Cristy said in a nice way.

"Why should I? You're just a human."

Upon closer inspection, Cristy realized the woman in front of her was not human. As Cristy glanced at her, her gaze shifted in a noticeable way.

"I'm here to help…"

The woman began to rotate. Squeezing her flesh, the woman's fingers wrapped around Cristy's arm.

"William's partner shouldn't be you. You're nothing more than a stupid little slut."

Cristy stared at the ground as she waited for the woman to let her go, trying to keep her emotions under control. She haven't tried to deal with this kind of animosity in her life.

Cristy clenched her teeth and remained silent.

"Rather than you, I believe that I should be standing by his side. I should be the one who staying with him and taking care of his needs. But now look, William is counting on you, Cristy!"

In a disrespectful tone, Cristy's name was mentioned.

"Lara, leave her alone! " Michelle said.

"This isn't over yet, " Lori whispered in Cristy's ear.

The two werewolves locked eyes and glared at one other. Lara dashed off without saying a thing. "That was never one of my favorite people. I didn't like her at all. She's a harlot and a fucking pain in the side." Michelle wrapped her arm around Cristy's waist, encasing her in a tight embrace. "Ever since she was a child, Lara has had the belief that she is at the top of the food chain."

Cristy had a chuckle to herself. The idea of Michelle fighting was a hoot. Michelle wasn't over the hill. Based on Cristy's knowledge of the aging process and Michelle's appearance, she was probably in her late forties. When it came to the women's age, Cristy didn't ask. She had been taught that it was improper to ask question about her age but Cristy thanked her for protecting her.

"Sweetheart, as always. It's not the first time Lara has tried to get her fangs into the alpha. There is something about it that concerns me. I won't let her think I've done anything like this before. But I've been thinking about is her awareness of the situation has grown since she first know about you. William is also aware of this."

Michelle guided her to a set of chairs by the hand. "Your first meal, isn't it?" In agreement, Cristy gave a nod of her head.

"What are your thoughts about it?" Michelle asked.

"Nothing about it in generally." As the others in the pack continued to point at Cristy, she made a gesture of acknowledgment. Before William drew her out of the crowd, no one paid attention to her appearance, but now she's the talk of the town.

"Hold off on making any decisions until the rest of the sectors arrive. Vampires and werewolves have a long history of animosity. When we're all together, it'll be a lot of fun."

Cristy had a chuckle to herself. "The idea is intriguing, then."

Michelle filled the air. "Humans is taking place."

"What makes you so certain of that?" Cristy performed a quick sweep of the surroundings.

"It's nothing to be concerned about, honey. Darwin will taking over. They smell like a busload of frat dudes. They will be here tomorrow or a few days down the road, depending on their speed. As a result, I went here ahead. So to speak, I have the best nose in the group." Michelle tapped her nose.

Cristy chuckled as she turned to face the crowd on the dance floor. Lily danced with a male human. Her companion was a deserving recipient of happiness.

"Mike isn't her mate." Michelle interrupted her stream of thought with an interjection.

"Yes, I am aware of that. When it comes to me, he's completely different than William. We initially communicated when I was sixteen years old, I believe. What was going on with his mate sense?" Cristy asked.

"Even though we are magical beings, our werewolves seem to have a sixth sense about when to breed. Very few people I know get married before turning twenty-one. This year's birthday is a significant one for a lot of folks. You should ask William to find out why."

Despite her exhaustion, she nodded and surveyed the dance floor. "I think, I need to sleep already," Cristy said.

"That's all right, my darling. I understand. I'll be here for a little longer. Enjoy a restful night's sleep."

When she got home, Cristy saw her mother's gaze remained fixed on the window in the kitchen. Cristy rubbed her neck and seemed a little dazed. "Mom, how are you doing?" She asked.

"You scared out of me!" Cristy's mom said.

"How are you feeling?" Cristy repeated her question.

"I'm fine, thank you. Little tired, I guessed. I think the combination of all those flavors has given me a headache." When her mom finished drying her hands, she came over to Cristy. "I am aware of your worry for William. But I think he appears to be a decent person to me." Cristy's mom said and gave her a head kiss.

"Mom, thank you, have a peaceful sleep." Cristy's said and smiled.

After she had turned around, she began to make her way back up the stairs. As she made her way down the stairs, she frowned at her mother as she approached. As she stood by the window, her mom could be seen looking out.

The shirt she was wearing had been pulled down, revealing her neck. While looking in the mirror, she poked her neck. Cristy made her way to her room with a shrug of her shoulders. Despite her mother's strange reaction, she was unable to comprehend it. Cristy's took off her clothes, changed into her over sized nightgown, and slid back into bed. The open window in her room let in a breath of fresh air, which enveloped her.
