"I'm - I'm the what!" Sal suddenly shouted, not quite sure what he had just heard.
"I said, you are the rightful heir to the seat as boss of the Mogavero family," Flavio said with a deadly serious face.
"What the hell are you talking about... Mafia... Mogavero... That isn't even my name!" Sal shouted, feeling his anger building at this ridiculous situation as he didn't know how else to process his emotions.
"That is your name... As I said, you are Salvator Mogavero... Your mother was Cinzia Mogavero and your father was Alessandro Mogavero, our last boss, may he rest in peace." He said as he took a moment.
"You see, your mother ran away from the family, taking you with her on your first birthday, disappearing for all of this time... Until her car accident." Flavio said.
Sal was more than confused right now, but Flavio had been right about his mother's name. He never knew his father, and every time he asked, his mother would always say he was a dangerous man and they were better off without him in their life.
"No... It cant be." Sal said, not understanding what was happening right now.
"Take a look for yourself," Flavio said as he reached into his blazer pocket, pulling out a picture before he tossed it onto the table, throwing it with skill so that it landed right in front of Sal for him to see.
"That is your mother, no?" He asked, waiting for Sal to look.
Sal slowly looked down at the picture, his eyes opening in shock as he instantly recognized the woman in the picture to be his mother, holding himself as a baby with a large man beside them.
"It can't be..." Sal said, staring at the picture intensely.
"That was taken one week before your mother ran away with you... Your father searched the globe high and low for you, however, it was believed that you had both been killed by our enemies as our search resulted in failure no matter how much we looked."
"That was until a picture of your mother aired on the British news, showing the story of a woman who had been involved in a tragic car crash here in London," Flavio said, seeing that Sal was starting to come to terms with the information before him.
"It can't be..." He said, taking another look at the photo, seeing his mother's face and his own in the form of a baby.
"This is my father..." He said after a moment of silence, taking a hard look at him, seeing himself somewhat in his appearance.
"I know this is a lot of information to take in... But you are the son of lord Alessandro Mogavero, there is no doubt about it." Flavio said, smiling as he did.
"I had no idea..." Sal said, somewhat feeling betrayed by his mother as she had lied to him for all of these years.
"It has come to our attention that she was able to keep you under the radar by keeping you in poor and highly populated areas, while constantly moving you around, never staying in one place for too long."
"Though for some reason, once you arrived here, she never left... A reason we are not sure as to why." Flavio said as he slowly stood up.
"Why would she lie to me... Why would she keep this a secret from me for all these years?" Sal said, looking at the picture as he noticed a teardrop fall onto it.
Flavio watched him, staying quiet for a moment as he let Sal come to terms with everything he had been told.
"Your father believed that after your mother witnessed the bloodshed of the family for so long, she wanted to stop you from leading a life like your fathers..." Flavio said, placing a cigarette into his mouth and lighting it.
"A decision that had greater consequences than she could have ever imagined." Flavio then said as he blew out a large puff of smoke.
"I don't mean to rush you Sal... But there is a reason we have spent so much time searching for you." He said after a long moment, allowing Sal to calm down a little.
"Your father was sadly killed six months ago. Killed in a war between ourselves and another family fighting for control." Flavio said bluntly, taking another drag of his cigarette.
"Your father's death has resulted in a power struggle within the family, causing a civil war over who should become the next boss."
Sal looked Flavio in the eye, seeming to have listed better than Flavio had expected him to.
"So why do you need me if there are others who can take up the position?" He asked.
Flavio smiled, placing his hands into his pockets.
"The law is simple young Salvator. Only the rightful heir can become the next boss of the family, and you are that rightful heir Sal." Flavio said.
"Only you can take control of the family and put an end to the fighting between the branch families. Only you can harness the power that the true blood of the Mogavero has access to." Flavio suddenly shouted.
Sal was confused again, not seeming to understand what he was getting at.
"You see, Sal... Your blood is special. You have your father's blood flowing through your veins, the blood of the ancient Mogavero... Blessed by the gods themselves."
This time, Sal was totally lost. everything so far had seemed like a made-up story, but now he was talking about great power and gods, making everything seem completely crazy.
Flavio smiled at the look on Sal's face, having had the same look on his own until he had seen the truth for himself.
"Do you know where the mafia comes from Sal?" He suddenly asked, turning around as he picked up his tea cup from the table again, placing the butt of his cigarette into the ashtray on the table.
"From Italy I guess?" Sal said, never having given it much thought.
"Did you know that the first family members of the Mogavero can be traced back to ancient Rome?" Flavio said taking a sip of his tea.
"It is there where your ancestors started their empire of organised crime, somehow unlocking the power of the gods and using that power to form an underworld empire that has spanned across the entire world for over two thousand years, holding influence in every aspect and event, shaping the very world you see today! That is your destiny young Sal, that is your lineage, connected to the very gods themselves!" Flavio said, spinning a good story.
Sal looked dumbstruck at the story, not believing a word of it as he looked at Flavio like he was crazy.
"Look, Flavio... I think I have heard enough for today, I just want to go home." He said.
"It does sound crazy doesn't it..." Flavio said with a small chuckle.
Flavio placed his teacup down before he reached into his pocket, pulling out a fancy-looking silver ring.
"Here, take this," Flavio said as he tossed the ring to Sal, who caught it in both hands with good reflexes.
"A ring?" Sal said, taking a closer look at it, noting the engravings in the metal.
"Yes, a ring," Flavio said with a smile.
"A mere ring to any normal human being." He then said as he walked over to Sal and took the ring off of him, placing it on his own finger.
"You see, to me and anyone else here, this is but a mere ring... But to you, this ring is everything man has ever wished for." He said, taking the ring off and handing it back to him.
Sal looked at the ring again and then back to Flavio.
"It looks like an old ring to me..." Sal said, taking another look at it.
"Put it on," Flavio said, watching him carefully.
Sal looked back at the ring and then back to Flavio.
"I would rather just go home." He said, placing the ring on the table.
Flavio sighed as he placed his hands back into his pockets.
"I'll make you a deal then Salvator. You put the ring on and if nothing happens, you can go home and never have to worry about any of this again, hell I will even compensate you for your time here with a fair amount of inheritance." Flavio said as he shrugged his shoulders, already having caught Sal's attention.
"But if what I already know is going to happen, then you will be staying here for a little longer," Flavio said, making Sal the offer.
"So what's it going to be?" He asked, looking into Sal's eyes as he waited for a response.
Sal guessed he had nothing else to lose now, and if putting on the stupid ring would help him get home faster, then he guessed he had no choice.
"Alright, I'll do it. But you had better hold up your end of the deal." He said as he stood to his feet, taking the ring from Flavio.
Flavio smiled and started to take a few steps back, something Sal noticed the rest of the men in the room do too.
"Umm... Does it matter what finger I put it on?" Sal asked, looking up to Flavio who was on the other side of the room, making Sal a little nervous.
"And what the hell are you doing all the way over there!" He shouted, feeling like this was some sort of trap.
"Please master Salvator... This is merely for our own safety." He said in response, giving him a reassuring smile.
"Also, feel free to place the ring on whichever finger feels most natural to you."
Sal sighed and looked down at the ring one last time, deciding to place it on the middle finger of his right hand.
"What the hell." He said as he slid it on, just wanting to get this crazy day over with already.
Everyone in the room flinched, seeming as if they were getting ready to take cover, something that Sal couldn't help but notice.
"See, nothing. You have nothing to worry about, I knew this was a load of..."
Sal suddenly struggled to form his words as a strange sensation caused through his body, causing him to suddenly shut down, feeling as if his body was entering reboot mode like some sort of computer.
"What is this... What is this feeling?" Sal said to himself as his body suddenly became aware.
"It feels like I have been asleep all of my life and only now am I waking up for the first time..." He said, feeling a sudden surge of power flow into him, feeling as if his brain had been unlocked, freeing his body from the cage it had been bound to for all his life.
"ARGH!" Sal suddenly yelled as blue fire ignited around his ring and hands, burning with a bright blue flame as his body started to glow, causing him to hover off of the ground into the air as the heat in the room grew more and more intense, even causing all of the glass in the room to shatter, including the windows.
"Flavio and the rest of the men took cover as they watched young Sal floating in the air, glowing with power as the blue flames burnt brightly in his hands, lasting for only a few more seconds before the flame went out and Sal suddenly dropped to the ground, falling unconscious from the overwhelming power he had felt from the ring.
The temperature in the room slowly dropped back down to safe levels, and Flavio and his men slowly appeared from their cover.
"He did it... He really did it." One of the men said, taking off his broken sunglasses as he stared at Sal.
"He wields the blue flames of divine power... He truly is the rightful heir!" Another shouted, feeling an overwhelming sense of happiness as he looked at his new boss.
Flavio also looked at Sal with an overwhelming sense of pride.
"He wields the blue flames of divine power, just like his father before him... He is the rightful air to the throne, it is his birthright!" Flavio shouted, getting a cheer from the men as they bowed down to their new leader, pledging their undying loyalty to him, unbeknownst to Sal who was still unconscious.
"Long live Salvator Mogavero, the new ruler of the Mogavero empire," Flavio said as he slowly stood up to his full height.
"Sir, the hotel has contacted the police due to the sudden burst of power." One of the men reported, letting Flavio know.
Flavio smiled, reaching into his blazer pocket and pulling out a gold card.
"The police are of no concern to us, take care of it the usual way," Flavio said as he handed the gold card to the man.
"At once sir." The man said before he turned ad left.
"Let's get our young lord comfortable until he wakes up, after all, we have a lot to discuss when he wakes up," Flavio said, watching as his men moved Sal with great care.
"And let's get another room while we are at it, I cant stand the smell of this city."
