Heavenly chronicles

It didn't take me too long to pack the next morning. I took an extra change of clothes, comb and toothbrush in a backpack Luke gave me.

Dexter gave us a thousand dollars cash and twenty holy silver coins on loan. Holy coins were as big as a Christmas cookie with images of the saints stamped on one side and the cross at the other side. It was meant for non spiritual transactions-whatever that meant. He gave us opportunity to pick or make any weapon we would need, he even gave us access to the restricted part of the inventory, that place was full of weapons that formal hunters had used during their expenditure.

Sophia picked an arrow and bow, because of her blessing of the wind, Nico picked a staff, he said it was best for his ability, necromancy, Luke didn't take anything, he took a pair of workman tools, that was all he needed, plus his ability to control fire, it was the best fit according to him. Iris took a dagger, she had gotten invisibility as her ability, Leon took a sac-bag of knives, Sarah had insisted that the chop-knuckles she had was enough, she brought it with her to the camp and refused to use no other weapon, her ability was earth control.

I hadn't gotten my ability but I assumed it will be water control because the scroll had said four will learn the elements each, so I decided to try the Trident but it didn't feel right, I kept searching but I couldn't find anything, i almost gave up until something caught my eye. It was a sword, a Katana, it had a dragon logo on his sheath, the hilt was a black and white wing, I took it from his place, I removed it from the sheath, the blade had the name Antonio written on it, immediately I felt a connection, then I knew it was the right one for me.

It was time to go, Dexter assigned one of the minor spirits, Daniel, he was to escort us outside and would leave us from there. Dexter decided that it would be best if only three of us went to capture the spartians, while the rest would go to the hunter society. We picked the participants for the capture, I crossed my fingers hoping I won't get picked but as always the angel of luck didn't notice my prayer, Iris, Leon and I got picked for the capture while the rest went to the hunter society.

Sarah and the rest started on their way to the hunter society with Daniel while Dexter assigned Archer to escort us.

I heard footsteps behind us.

Ryan came running up the hill which we were on.

"Phew" he was breathing heavily, "Thank God, I caught up with you"

Iris blushed, normal reaction around Ryan.

He brought a small box from his pocket, it contained a necklace with a medallion.

"I wanted to say good luck and here" he handed me the medallion, I took it and wore it, hoping it wasn't cursed or something.

Ryan said, 'Alma!'

It started to enlarge and soon I was in an armor, he repeated the word and it became a normal medallion.

I didn't know what to say. Here I was thinking Ryan would be mad I was getting the most attention now. But he gave me a gift, a spiritual gift….. it made me feel guilty a little bit.

"Um Thanks bro" I said

"Don't mention and Theo….." Ryan looked uncomfortable "Succeed okay? Lot of lives depends on this"

We did a fist bump. Ryan shook hands with Leon, he hugged Iris who seemed like she could pass out in his arms.

After Ryan left, I turned to her "You're drooling"

'Am not'

"You like him don't you?"

"I'm beginning to rethink this journey with you, Theo"

She walked away annoyed to the other side of the hill, where a black Mercedes Benz waited on the shoulder of the road, I didn't know how the road came about and I didn't bother ask, I was already used to seeing things that weren't normal. Archer followed jingling the keys.

I looked at the medallion, I didn't really like the armor, it could limit my movements.

I then got an idea "Hey Leo, would you take the armor?"

"Sure" I gave him the medallion

"Alma" The armor fit his body, he started walking to the car too.

I started to follow him, Dexter held me back "I should have trained you better, Theo." He said, "the previous hunters had better training"

"Its okay, I just wish my mum is okay, she trained me a lot"

Dexter smiled "Your mum, she was a very important person here, no I shouldn't talk about her now"

I was curious but I knew better not to ask, I decided to let that wait till I was stronger before going into anything I may not be able to handle.

"Don't worry child, you will surely follow your destiny"Dexter told me with a straight face, that didn't make me feel better.

"My destiny, huh" That was my last words before leaving the camp, I looked back at the camp, Dexter stood there waving his hand. Not a send off I expected from him.

Archer drove us into the west long island. It felt weird being on the highway again, I looked over to Iris and Leon who seemed to feel the same way. Everything just looked like a fantasy after a week in camp.

"So far so good" Leon started "No demons and we are already fifteen miles"

I looked at Leon

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, I guess we forgot to tell you," Leon sat straight "You're the only half natural that came here without getting attacked by a demon"

"But I was attacked by an Angel" I pointed out.

"Yes we know that and its strange why an angel would want to kill a half natural, who hasn't been determined then" Iris said.

"But yet again, I was attacked" I protested

"Well if you had been determined then, it would have been understandable, since not all angels like the hunters, honestly I would love it if she could come right now and kill you"

"Really why do you hate me so much?"

"I don't hate you"

"Yeah, right"

Iris didn't speak after that instead she took her dagger and started polishing it.

In the front seat, I caught a glimpse of Archer smiling.

We got to Manhattan, it was dusk and raining lightly.

Archer dropped us at Penn station not to far from my mums apartment, I thought of visiting my mum to check how she was doing but I quickly brushed the thought off reminding myself of the quest.

Archer help unload our stuff and made sure that we got our train tickets. I wondered if Iris and Leon missed their home, from what I know we all came from New York.

Honestly speaking, I no longer cared about the quest but I wanted to use the opportunity to learn more about my mum, from what I know , she is aware of the existence of these things and she was a big contribution to the camp. I'm sure if I complete this quest, I could get some answers from Dexter.

The rain kept on and eventually it started pouring down. As we waited for the train to arrive, I felt a weird sensation and suddenly everyone started leave the station slowly, Iris and Leo seemed to have noticed it because they turned to me with a questioning look. Then the train finally arrived, it was only Leo, Iris and I that got into it.

When we entered, there was only a girl and her two friends sitting there, somehow I felt like I knew her but I decided to ignore it. After some minutes in the subway, Iris noticed that we were going faster than before, she notified me and Leo

"Don't worry, I'm sure the conductor is just in a hurry to get home for dinner" Leo said.

"Well, I'm not taking any risks" Iris stood up and went to the front cab, Leo looked at me and I shrugged.

Iris came back looking panicked

"Whats up? You look like you have been playing hide and seek with the sun"

"Oh I'm sorry" She said sarcastically "I guess I wont know the normal reaction someone would give when they find out, no one is driving the train he or she is in"

I didn't believe at first, I waited hoping to hear that she was joking but when she didn't say anything for a while and she still had that worried expression, I knew she was dead serious.

"What should we do Theo?" Leo asked.

"Why are you asking me?" I replied.

"Well I just felt like you would know what to do"

I didn't reply, I had acted like the leader before, I cant chicken out when a real problem comes.

"Just give me time to think, we will get out of here somehow"

"You're going nowhere Theo" We all turned to see the little girl and her two friends standing before us.

I wondered how she knew my name, then it hit me, why I recognized her before, and why she seemed so familiar, I had killed her.

Taylor smiled at me

"I'm back Theo"
