Temple of the Heavens

Gu Erin was shown down a set of stairs, these stairs were not special, however, Gu Erin wasn't sure when they had appeared, one should know that his spatial awareness was incredible compared to any cultivator within a few realms.

When Gu Erin finally reached the bottom, his body was starting to ache, he was still mortal, and doing the equivalent to, who knows how many flights of stairs taxed his body greatly. Gu Erin looked at his surroundings, he knew where this was, he was back on the first floor, the floor he had originally wished to enter. Was it truly necessary to make him do all this extra work? He wasn't going to complain, but he was still a bit sour about this situation.

The first and second floor were the only floors that were available to the common cultivators from Earth. The first floor is where you could request information, evaluations, techniques, and receive your jade token. This jade token would merge with one's divine soul, even in the divine soul's infancy one could still receive this token. This was only within Heaven's Mercy, once one left their jade token would be wiped clean. Only those who knew how to form a copy of their token using their divine soul, could one use this as a form of communication.

The second floor was a temple, it was not a place of worship but a place of order, disputes could be settled here, or wars could be declared. Doing this would allow one a certain level of protection. If one had a sect creation order, one could also form a sect. However, this wouldn't be available till after the first event within Heaven's Mercy.

Last of all on the second floor, was the alter. This alter was deemed useless within the first week until someone found out its true purpose. If one sat upon this alter they would hear the voice of the Heavens if they wished to return to Earth and leave Heaven's Mercy forever.

For an entire day the Temple of the Heaven's was crowded with a sea of people wishing to leave. No doubt they would be plunged from one hell into another. As the Earth they once knew was being ravaged with the abundant changes' qi brought.

Gu Erin stood upon the first floor and looked back at the staircase, only to find that it had disappeared. He was not surprised, the second floor would not open till after the first event.

Gu Erin pondered. "It should be a small-scale beast tide." Gu Erin knew about beast tides, unlike common animal's beasts who evolve and instinctually cultivate with qi have high intelligence, and may one day form a type of sentient thought.

As such if one overhunted an area it would be common for a beast tide to form as all the infighting in the beast world halted to face the common threat. If one over hunted an entire region, it would result in a true beast tide. An absolute endless mass of beasts led by the hidden rulers of each beast tribe. It was common for entire cities to be wiped off the map.

Luckily this was not a frontier town, so there was no chance of powerful beasts making an appearance. All events were optional, but one would find that not participating was as good as death as you are left behind. The rewards for risking your life were plentiful and it would allow you to progress.

Gu Erin had to find out how to prepare his group in three days to face the beast tide with some form of success. If they thrived now they might be able to accumulate enough merit to obtain a sect creation order.

Shaking his head Gu Erin walked towards the information desk. Everything within the Temple of the Heavens was lined with gold and crystal. To say that everything looked magical would be an understatement. Glowing wisps of light moved here and there always primarily staying in between the four robed figures . Gu Erin approached the information desk and looked at the robed figure dubbed "Broker" in his past life. Wearing a worn dull yellow robe, the Broker did not even acknowledge his existence.

"I would like information on the Immortal War Tyrant bloodline, the Divine Chaotic Body, and the Divine Origin Defying Root." Gu Erin asked tentatively.

"Four hundred fifty low grade spirit stones." Broker replied easily. Gu Erin held back a flinch, he was right in the end. Five hundred low grade spirit stones would have been the accumulated wealth of a successful cultivator in Heaven's Mercy in his past life. Now he had to exchange this wealth for some basic information.

With gritted teeth Gu Erin handed over the four hundred fifty low grade spirit stones. He did not bother with trying to bargain, such an effort would be fruitless in the end. This was the price and if one did not pay it then they would have to forget it altogether.

In response Broker waved his hands and the spirit stones disappeared, in its place was three jade slips. Once Gu Erin touched these jade slips he would learn everything known about these innate talents.

With a firm will, Gu Erin braced himself and touched the jade slip of the Immortal War Tyrant bloodline.

The world froze, stars exploded in Gu Erin's mind as war drums beat in his heart. If there were any weapons in the Temple of the Heavens they would be vibrating madly as if they had just entered the presence of a King. Space started to slowly fluctuate around Gu Erin as the faint smell of blood seemed to exude from him like a tangible aura. Just in that moment it felt like he had pulled every muscle in his body as he felt a deep ache.

With an exhale Gu Erin expelled a breath of foul air, his mind was far clearer than before and his body was far more responsive as Gu Erin could now feel a small presence of his bloodline. Like cultivation both bloodline and physiques have to be cultivated in their own way. Spirit roots more often than not required consuming heaven grade materials. But, the other two required far more advanced steps.

The Immortal War Tyrant bloodline required blood, not just ordinary blood, but blood essence and bloodline essence. There were three types of blood, normal blood which at most contained qi, blood essence which resembled one's life, and bloodline essence.

A cultivator could bleed and loose most of his blood, but could still live easily as long as they have their blood essence to recover. Bloodline essence however, could be used to activate the power of ones' bloodline, it was a trump card only used in life and death situations.

Gu Erin then touched the jade slip of the Divine Chaotic Body. Unlike before when Gu Erin stood still, this time he fell to the ground. His body spasmed as it looked like Gu Erin was in immense pain. His body twisted and write as Gu Erin processed the information his mind and followed the guidance of the slip he had just been injected with. Rampant energy flooded out of Gu Erin.

Space shuddered at this energy, the floors that normally couldn't be broken by any means started to crack and turn to powder. Gu Erin's body started to softly glow with a silver light as small bright stars seemed to blink in and out of existence on his skin.

Finally, Gu Erin groaned as he stood up shakily. When Gu Erin managed to access a small part of the latent energy within his physique he found that it did not want to be controlled. So slowly Gu Erin had to process the raw energy of his physique to utilize it even remotely. To say that he could only use a hundredth of the power of the first stage of the bloodline would be correct.

With slight but growing apprehension Gu Erin placed his hand on the final jade. Gu Erin touched the jade slip, he let his thoughts follow the jade slips guidance in how to use his Heaven grade spirit root. He learned how to circulate them in conjunction to his natural meridians. Gu Erin was amazed, unlike the other two processes that felt too domineering, this felt too peaceful. However, just as his mind ended the circulation all positive thoughts fled him.

When the circulation ended everything froze as ice started to form on his skin, Gu Erin felt too cold. Then everything started to heat up, to the point Gu Erin started to roll on the ground. Then jolts and shocks started to turn into stabbing heat as lightning arched all around him.

Gu Erin fell to the ground again, as every element went through Gu Erin in a matter of a few minutes. All of his body was bleeding and scorched. Gu Erin had completed a single complete circulation, and the resulting rampant qi caused him to suffer a backlash. Gu Erin had not anticipated such a speed without a proper technique. Without a proper cultivation technique all he would do is harm his own pathways.

Gu Erin slowly and painfully stood, the wounds had somewhat stopped bleeding, although his body was still not used to this pain his mind was only partially clouded. Gu Erin's mind worked as he tried to find a solution to this problem. Although he was knowledgeable, he was still a mortal, the ambient qi made survivability quite high as it could fuel even mortal flesh. However, the rate at which it would be healed would be far too slow. Gu Erin's body had slowed its bleeding slightly to a manageable level. However, with this many cuts it would be a sealed death if not healed.

Gu Erin looked around as he tried not to shift his wrecked body. Finally, he found a Green robed figure, finding his target Gu Erin slowly made his way to him, trying his best to ignore the constant pain from his open cuts and burns.

When Gu Erin finally made it to the crystalline desk he leaned on it so heavily that he was almost flat up against it, as he tried to support himself.

"I request a….cultivation technique." Gu Erin requested weekly; his face slightly pale.

"The First chapter of the Heaven's recommendation is fifty low grade spirit stones." The Green clad figure responded.

With a pained heart Gu Erin threw the remainder of his wealth on the counter, even in this state Gu Erin still felt a true pain that hurt deeper than any cut. Damn can't he get a break? This streak of bad luck truly made his heart quiver.
