Chapter 7
On the right were two serious-looking, bespectacled young girls. One was black and chubby, the other an awkward, gawky blonde with a rabbity overbite. They looked like students; neither of them could have been many months over the 18 years minimum stipulated in the small print.
The final couple, on the diagonally opposite mat, was a matching pair of female goths, with black eyeliner, black lipstick, white face powder, and copious silver jewelry. They were both supermodel-thin and had large, globular breasts—obviously the product of surgical enhancement—which made them look like top-heavy Barbie dolls. They might have been the indistinguishable products of the same cloning laboratory, except for the color of their hair: pink on one, green on the other.
