Heart of the Universe

Waking up with a killer headache and hangover isn't exactly an unfamiliar feeling to our friend Damian Luciel. However, waking up in a universe where Tony Stark and Lex Luthor are business partners, well... that's a first. Thankfully, it seems our reluctant 'hero' was not abandoned by whatever cosmic entity thought it funny to drop him here. He's a mutant, and a powerful one at that. One with a direct connection to the... wait seriously? The HEART OF THE UNIVERSE!?! Are you kidding me!?!

A/N: Read Marvel: Path Forward of fanfiction.net! It's super good and is doing basically the same thing I am, though his MC is a lot less powerful than mine.

.~.~.~.

"Finally, it's over!" Jean moaned as she leaned her head down against the desk.

"Come on Jean, it couldn't be that bad, right?" I asked.

"No... Miss J is a really good teacher and all that, I just suck at Math." She replied.

"In fairness, it IS college-level Calculus we are taking." Peter pointed out, butting into our conversation.

"It's such a pain in the ass though. All those College professors coming after us trying to disprove Miss J's programs just to keep their jobs. They don't even care that if it is publically adopted, then even the poorest and most underfunded schools will be able to give a better education than the richest Ivy League Prep Schools" Stephany added with a slightly bitter voice.

"Hey, I can't blame them. When they fully release the Miss J program to the world, it'll put just about every non-gym, non-lab teacher out of a job." I replied.

It was the end of our Junior Year at Midtown High and we had all just finished our exams. Due to the unmatched ability of Miss J as an educator, in just the three years since we started the program, everyone in the class had knowledge on par with University Graduates when it came to General Studies. This wasn't just a local event either, all schools around the country and globe, which participated in the Advanced Automated Teaching Program, shared similar results.

Since this rapid rate of improvement threatened the entire Education Industry, there was significant pushback from all sides to the program. In recent months, Universities from around the world were sending their best instructors to quiz us on the various fields we were taught in an effort to discredit the program in its entirety and using underhanded tactics to try to get us to fail.

Most of the second half of the year was taken up by test after test from various institutions. The test we just completed was an Advanced Calculus Test that even people with a Master's Degree in Mathematics would struggle with and administrated by an acclaimed Harvard University Doctor in the subject. I used my powers to double-check everyone's answers, and from what I could tell, the class average was a B+ with the lowest score being a C- from Flash.

Considering that Flash was a dumbass, this just went to prove the effectiveness of Miss J's education and to frustrate the plans of the Education Industry around the world. As a matter of fact, starting next year practically all countries that participated in the program would switch to having ALL classes taught by Miss J with supplementary materials and exercises as well as the 'lab' exercises being taught by regular teachers under Miss J's guidance. Teachers weren't exactly thrilled that the future prospects for their jobs were looking bleak, but progress towards a better tomorrow can't be stopped just because of the wants of the people today... Ok, I might have used a bit of my power to force through the project despite the fierce opposition, but hey. I was just practicing what the teacher's always preaching and 'Thinking of the Children'.

I shook my head at that thought then turned back to Cassy. "Are you going to be heading back to Gotham for the summer?" I asked.

Cassy hesitated for a moment before shaking her head no. I raised an eyebrow at this and waited for her to explain. "No need. Job here." She replied, a bit monotonously.

"I see, you're mom's contract is ending but you want to stay here?" I asked, to which she nodded. I smiled happily at that and reached my hand forward to give me a fist bump, to which she hesitantly reciprocated.

"I swear, when we have kids, Damian, I hope they are as cute as Cassy is." Eve quipped, to which Cassandra blushed slightly.

"Alright now, that's enough of the teasing." MJ came over in full motherly mode to protect the wayward Batgirl. "Shouldn't one of you rich kids be buying us dinner for passing the last exam of the year?"

"Oh yeah! Dad bought a restaurant recently that isn't far from here. It's a great Italian Place, I'm sure we can get the whole place to ourselves before they open." Harry chirped from the other side of the room.

"Osborn paying for some fancy food again? I'm in!" Luke said loudly.

"Here's to that!" Peter added.

...

After seeing Jean and Eve home in the evening after our impromptu class linner (lunch/dinner), I decided to teleport myself to Emma's office. She'd texted me about something I should know about during dinner but that according to her, wasn't all too important.

"Ah!" Emma yelped and threw a wave os psionic energy my way. I stood firm, as the invulnerability that I gave myself would make Superman look like he was made of tissue paper in comparison. The wave pushed against me for a moment before relenting when Emma realized who it was that she attacked.

"Oh, kid boss, it's you." She said with a sigh. "You can't scare me like that, you know I've already had to fight off two assassins who're after me right?" She complained.

"Sorry about scaring you, it was my bad." I apologized. "I'm just here to see what was up. You texted me about something needing my direct attention."

Emma sighed and sat back into her office chair before opening up the drawer and fishing trough some documents. I raised my eyebrows at this. Usually, if it was just something mundane that she needed help with, she'd use her computer, but whenever she didn't, that meant it was something 'special' that we didn't want on our servers. My anticipation grew slightly when she finally found what she was looking for, skimmed it quickly, then handed it off to me.

"It's another one of the many 'extraterrestrial' problems." She explained as I glanced down at it.

"A glowing green asteroid?" I asked.

"The boys from the space division don't know what its made of and think it originates from outside the solar system." She explained.

I closed my eyes and focused my power to find out what it was, only to be surprised it was a chunk of Kryptonite the size of a football staduim, and it was headed straight toward the earth. This intrigued me. Kryptonite was something that wasn't native to earth in this universe. I even used my powers to collect all of the crystals on earth that came from ancient meteorites so that no one could get their hands on them. I didn't want Superman to die because of some random BS that occurs due to the multiple franchises clashing together in a weird way after all.

"So, is it another invasion?" Emma asked, slight worry in her voice.

"No, it's not. It's just an Asteroid made of a rare and potentially radioactive material." I commented.

"Oh, that's good then." She sighed in relief.

I had already stopped one Alien Invasion from the Gordanians who wanted to enslave humanity and sell us on the intergalactic black market using my powers. It was still too early for humanity to face the galactic community, and to be honest, I really didn't want to form the Justice League or Avengers or whatever other superhero team would form afterward without my direct support. If I did, then due to my current age, I'd be relegated to the Teen Titans at best, and my plans for creating a whole logistics system that trained and supported all heroes equally and couldn't be brought down due to the egos of someone like Tony Stark and Captain America clashing.

"So... what are we going to do about it?" She asked.

"If we do nothing, then it'll crash into rural Mongolia, and the last thing I want id the Chinese or Russians getting their hands on a way to kill or capture Superman," I said.

"You sound like America getting their hands on it would be any better," Emma quipped.

"Touche" I responded because it was a fair point.

"So what are you going to do about it? Divert it away or are you going to use the upstate location?" Emma asked.

"Hmm... I'll take it upstate. I'll cut off a few chunks for the lab guys to experiment on. I'm sure having a few of the smaller samples wouldn't hurt. I also know there is a way to use it as fuel for a generator, so it could be a stop-gap or backup if Stark goes back on his word with the Arc Reactor Plants deal." I said.

"Alright. I'll have the scientists ready to receive the samples in the morning." Emma commented while standing up and yawning. "Night, kid boss."

"Shouldn't I be 'teen boss' since I'm 17 now?" I asked mildly amused.

"You'll always be a kid boss to me," Emma replied without hesitation as she left the room.

"Cheeky woman," I said before snapping my fingers and transporting the meteorite to the designated location while resetting its velocity to 0 so it wouldn't slam into the earth and cause a mass extinction. I then teleported myself after it, just to ensure I didn't cause any damage to the surroundings.

The lab upstate was a massive underground facility I'd excavated with my powers to store my stuff after the railyard location I was using in my earlier years kept being broken into by vagrants or teens looking to tag. It acted as the Vault for most of my treasures and I owned all the land around it for miles, turning it into a 'private nature reserve' so no one was going to come snooping around.

I really wanted to get the processing of this over with and go home. I was tired after a long day and wanted to play some video games. I approached the rock and lightly chopped it, using my powers to enhance my chop. A second after my chop landed, the entire structure began to crack and shatter into tiny pieces.

Satisfied with my work and fulfilling my daily cool factor quota, I was about to turn to leave when I noticed a glimmer coming from the spaceship. I turned back to it and willed the debris away from whatever was making that glimmer.

After the piles of green radioactive rock were parted like the red sea, all that was left was a large golden metallic pod of clearly alien design.

"I swear to god, this better not be Doomsday." I moaned as I approached.

I circled it for a minute, glancing at the inscriptions in a clearly alien language as I went. Finally, I made it to what I could only assume was the 'front' of the pod. There was a small window there with a silvery sheen. I stepped closer and was blown away by what I saw. It was the face of an absurdly beautiful young woman. Her skintone was slightly tanned caucasian with yellowish blonde hair and full red lips. Her body structure seemed to be rather lean, though well-proportioned. her eyes were closed, so I couldn't see their color, but I had a hunch they were blue. Judging from her face alone, she looked to be my age, though could have been a year older or younger for all I knew. She was wearing an all-white dress with gemstone-encrusted jewelry around her neck. Golden rings on her fingers, and red gemstone earrings. Her most prominent feature, however, was the gilded circlet with a large red gemstone in its center, sitting upon her head.

I turned back towards the inscriptions to read them.

"My daughter, Kara Zor-El Ra, princess of the planet Krypton. Our offering to you, Grand Regent Thragg of Viltrum. May Rao bless the union of our two peoples." I translated using my powers.

"... What the fu-"

Supergirl is finally here, and she will be the gateway to the MC meeting Superman and from there, many other superheroes.
