As Soon As Possible

Chapter 8

Shasa was surprised then turned to me.

"I'm afraid that your parents don't agree with our plan, Mas!" he answered with a sigh.

"Of course they don't agree if they know about our real plan Sha! Only the two of us know about our pretend marriage. Uh, the three of us with Shakira, you can keep a secret right Kira?"

"You can, Mas, don't worry. I don't think the bucket is leaking!" replied Shakira.

"That's great then, but... how long are we going to have our fake marriage, Mas?"

"It's up to you Sha, I'll leave the decision to you. But if it takes a year, yes. If it's too soon, my parents will get suspicious!"

"Yes Mas, I understand," Shasa replied slowly.

Then it was quiet again without any conversation until finally the car arrived in front of my house. The security guard opened the door as soon as he saw my car pull over.

"Come on Sha! Kira, let's go in!" ask me.

They walked following me from behind, Mama and Papa had apparently been waiting in front of the door. Their faces look very pleased and happy. There is a little guilt in the corner of my heart to see the happy faces of my mom and dad.

I'm sorry Ma, Pa, I have to do this.

"Assalamualaikum," Shasa greeted first. Shasa greeted my parents as well as his sister.

"Waalaikumsalam, oh Mama, I was surprised to hear Papa's story earlier. Mama thought Papa was lying, but it turned out to be true. What's your name, honey?" chattered Mama happily.

"My name is Shabilla Nafisa, Aunt. This is my sister Shakira," Shasa answered while laughing.

"Don't call Aunt, just call Mama. Aren't you two getting married soon, right Syam?"

"Eh, y-yes Ma!" I answered nervously.

"Hm, so when are you two getting married?"

Papa joined in the voice, making me and Shasa look at each other.

"Shasa is up to Mas Hisyam, Uncle!"

Cihuy, Shasa is very talented in acting. Mama and Papa looked even happier. Big smiles never left their faces.

"Let's go inside! Mama has cooked a lot of food. Anyway, you have to finish it, okay?" asked Mama while holding Shasa.

I followed behind with very light steps. It seemed that everything was going according to plan. Hopefully so!

The dinner my parents arranged went well. It seems Shasa trying to adjust to my Papa and mama. Actually I don't mind, in fact it's good, right? Means Shasa seriously wants to marry me.

I smiled triumphantly, I can already imagine the faces of Marcel and Didu later. They must have felt shocked and couldn't believe that I could meet their challenge, especially since it wasn't even a month since the time they gave me.

"What's wrong with you, Syam? You've been smiling to yourself?"

Oh, Mom. It's time for something like this to be asked again, anyway! I grumbled in my heart.

"Mama, I don't know. Yes, of course he's happy, so Papa won't marry Zuriah!" my daddy chirps.

"Uhukk... uhukkk!" I even coughed, why, really, did Papa say Zuriah's name at a time like this.

Shasa handed me drinking water, I received it and I immediately finished it until nothing was left. Seeing this, Mama and Papa cleared their throats a little.

Shasa blushed, while Shakira laughed at him.

Luckily the dinner was over, Mama and Papa invited us to sit in the living room.

"So, who will be your guardian, Sha?" asked Papa to Shasa.

My parents already know the origins and circumstances of Shasa now. Shasa had told him before dinner last night. My parents didn't mind, especially when they saw Shasa's veiled appearance made my parents believe that Shasa was a good girl.

"Shasa doesn't know, Uncle. The problem is Shasa doesn't know who else is Papa and Mama's family," Shasa answered sadly.

"In that case, just leave everything to Uncle. We'll take care of everything."

Papa looked very enthusiastic, I breathed a sigh of relief. One problem I have been able to overcome. Even if it's just a fake and temporary marriage.

"So where are you sleeping now?" asked Mom.

"In Aunt's tent," said Shasa.

"Why, why do you still call Aunt, anyway! Mama, try calling Mama!" my mom protested.

"Yes Tan, uh, Ma."

"Well, it's better to hear that. So you guys sleep in tents, hmm, tonight and so on you just sleep here. There are many rooms in Mama's house, you can choose one!"

"But Mama..."

"No buts! Mbok Yem, come here Mbok!"

"Yes, ma'am!" Bi Iyem came hurriedly.

"Take Shasa and her sister to the room above!"

"Okay, Mom. Come on Nonsense, here's the package so Mbok can bring it!"

Shasa refused, he brought his own package. Shakira also did the same. Papa stood up and walked into his room. Soon Papa came out again carrying a paper.

"Where are you going, Papa?" I asked because Papa was about to leave the house.

"Want to go to Mr. RT's house, take care of your paperwork so you can get married as soon as possible," Papa replied cheerfully.

O Allah, forgive me for lying to my parents. I languidly entered my room, in the old room I was pensive. I can imagine all my behavior that always made my mom and dad restless.

Getting drunk, wild racing, betting on football, I've done it all. Only two things that I have never tried and indeed have no intention to try. Playing with women and drugs, those two things I really avoid.

Just like that, my parents were already restless and anxious to see my behavior. They kept urging me to get married as soon as possible. Do they think that after getting married I can change.

Arrghhhh ... I squeezed my hair roughly. The more I think about it, the more my head hurts, never mind, just go with my plan first. The important thing is that Shasa has agreed.

Marcel, Didu, you will be surprised later, I muttered happily. Without realizing it, I fell asleep while still wearing my work clothes.
