Chapter 40
Adrienne asked the driver, who Ryan had arranged to take her home, to stop at her gate. She stepped out of the car and pressed the bell for one of the security men to open it. As the gate swung open, one of the guards was taken aback to see Adrienne standing there all alone. No car, no handbag, and no Daniel or any other companion.
"Are you alright, ma'am? This is quite unusual," he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"I'm fine. Someone dropped me off, and I didn't want to inconvenience them by having them drive in and then back out," Adrienne explained.
"Well, welcome back," he said, slightly confused.
"Thank you," she replied and started making her way towards the main house.
