Follow Alaric in his journey to be the strongest wizard out there by hook or by crook. This is the story of a guy who went to a different world to get power and to find new relationships in his life. Read how he fights off Voldemort in process becoming the leader of new generation of wizards and builds up his new life with his new friends, family and wife. A story of a wizard using his wisdom and power to ascend to the pinnacle of the world, who will do anything to protect his new family. This is a little slow paced and also somewhat slice of life story so keep that in mind, that focuses more on Alaric's relationship. There will be heavy changes to the original plot so be aware and also MC becomes overpowered rather quickly as the story moves forward and he won't hesitate to take some drastic measures if necessary, so he won't have a moral compass. The two old ladies looked very similar in appearance, one appearing more steady and composed, while the other seemed gentler and kinder.
Alaric recognized them very well from original book.
Newt Scamander was a magical zoologist famous for his book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which was well-known in the wizarding world.
Additionally, in the movie, he thwarted the plots of the first Dark Lord, Gellert Grindelwald, who was also the true best friend of Albus Dumbledore, twice.
As for the two old ladies, they were not simple characters in their younger days, especially Newt's wife, Tina Scamander, who was once an American Auror and actively participated in the fight against Grindelwald.
As for Rolf Scamander, he also became a magical zoologist like his grandfather in the original work and married Luna Lovegood.
"At Tina's request, Rolf studied at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United States.
He was sorted into Thunderbird House, just like his grandmother. So, I'm sorry we didn't send him to Hogwarts," Newt pointed at Rolf Scamander and introduced him to Dumbledore.
"Ah, he looks just like you did back then. If he had been at Hogwarts, he might have been sorted into Hufflepuff... This is Alaric," Dumbledore patted Alaric's shoulder.
"He's my most brilliant student, and Nicolas was very fond of him before his death."
"Your student? Oh, I've heard of him too. I heard he became the first Animagus of magical creatures.
Hogwarts always produces such geniuses," Newt suddenly looked interested.
"Speaking of Hogwarts, I studied there... Unfortunately, I was expelled in my fifth year."
"Phineas Black later considered it one of the biggest mistakes of his life!" Dumbledore chuckled.
Newt also laughed. "I still remember the annoying face of Headmaster Black."
And Dumbledore continued chatting with him.
...
A week after Nico Leme's funeral, the Ministry of Magic awarded Alaric the Order of Merlin, First Class.
Fudge personally presented the medal to Alaric, looking very pleased and offering many words of encouragement—a sycophantic gesture that made Alaric feel somewhat disgusted—but he knew Fudge's good days were numbered.
Sure enough, soon after, there was a major news break from the Ministry of Magic: the notorious murderer, Sirius Black, had escaped from Azkaban, the first escape incident from Azkaban in many years.
He was imprisoned for the murders of a wizard and twelve Muggles, slaughtering thirteen lives with a single curse.
At that time, Voldemort was wreaking havoc everywhere.
Fearing the prophecy, Voldemort wanted to kill Harry Potter, the newborn who might defeat him in the future.
But he and his mother were protected by the Fidelius Charm, leaving Voldemort powerless.
At that time, everyone believed that Sirius Black was the Secret-Keeper of the Fidelius Charm.
He was also Harry's father, James Potter's good friend. But the final outcome was well known— the Fidelius Charm was betrayed.
Harry's mother Lily Potter died protecting her child, and Voldemort was killed by his own rebounding curse while trying to kill Harry.
So, Sirius Black was believed to have sided with Voldemort, coupled with the charge of murder, he was sent to Azkaban without trial.
But now, the supposedly escape-proof Azkaban had been escaped by such a mad murderer.
For a while, the wizarding world was in panic, and the Ministry's response to this matter was unusually strong.
Cornelius Fudge not only informed the Muggle Prime Minister, Meacher, but also released Dementors to hunt down Black throughout Britain, causing widespread panic.
When Alaric went to Diagon Alley to buy supplies for the new semester, he saw wanted posters of Black plastered everywhere.
"The people at the Ministry are really sensitive," Alaric muttered, somewhat speechless, as he walked into Flourish and Blotts.
Although Alaric had already purchased and studied most of the textbooks for the new semester at Hogwarts in advance, there was one exception.
That was a strange book called The Monster Book of Monsters, which introduced some dangerous magical creatures.
This kind of book had a peculiar characteristic—it was quite aggressive. Not only would it attack the user trying to open it, but it would also attack each other.
As soon as Alaric stepped into Flourish and Blotts, he witnessed this ridiculous scene.
In the place where there should have been bookshelves, there was a large cage containing about a hundred copies of the same book.
These books were locked together, fiercely wrestling, biting, and fighting each other, with shredded pages flying everywhere.
Alaric noticed that two copies of Monster Book of Monsters had grabbed onto a third one, trying to tear it apart together.
The manager of the bookstore was busy trying to separate them, but ended up getting his hands bitten several times.
He approached and stated that he wanted to buy a copy of the book, and the manager, looking helpless, let Alaric choose one himself.
Alaric picked up a copy of the Monster Book of Monsters, casually flipped through it, and then went to the counter to pay. During this time, the book behaved obediently.
The manager was surprised to see this because Alaric seemed to have made the book obedient without doing anything special.
He approached and inquired about Alaric's technique.
"It's simple. You just need to assert dominance over them."
Alaric picked up another copy of Monster Book of Monsters as a demonstration.
When he attempted to open it, the book struggled violently. Alaric punched the cover, knocking it out, and then easily flipped it open.
The manager was stunned by this violent method, foolishly attempting to imitate it.
"Don't be misled by his crude methods; this could harm the book," a familiar and melodious female voice suddenly sounded behind Alaric.
He turned around and saw Penelope walking gracefully into the bookstore. '
She took a copy of the book from the manager's hands and, with a flick of her finger down the spine, the book automatically opened.
"Oh, thank goodness, I finally know how to deal with them," the manager complained tearfully.
"I'm never stocking these books again, never! It's just chaos! We've had two hundred copies of Invisible Books of Invisibility before, and I thought there was nothing worse than those.
They were so expensive, and we never even saw them."
The two exchanged greetings and then left together, laughing heartily as they exited Flourish and Blotts.
"I wonder why Hogwarts chose this book as a textbook for this semester," Penelope said, barely containing her laughter. "I dare say, it's an absolute disaster!"
"Haven't you heard? Professor Silvanus Kettleburn retired, and his successor is our gamekeeper, Hagrid.
I think using this book as a textbook suits his character perfectly," Alaric said casually. "Maybe he just finds these books fun."
