A story of a wizard using his wisdom and power to ascend to the pinnacle of the world, who will do anything to protect his new family. This is a little slow paced and also somewhat slice of life story so keep that in mind, that focuses more on Alaric's relationship. There will be heavy changes to the original plot so be aware and also MC becomes overpowered rather quickly as the story moves forward and he won't hesitate to take some drastic measures if necessary, so he won't have a moral compass. Chapter 103: Defeating Snape

Of course, if Alaric unleashed his powerful magic using his wand, Spellweaver, he could immediately extinguish the sea of fire in front of him with the Water-Making Spell.

However, what was the point of defeating the opponent with powerful magic?

Not only would it expose the fact that his wand surpassed the Elder Wand, which was against common sense, but it also lacked any technicality.

He didn't attempt to extinguish the flames; instead, he waved his wand, creating graceful shapes in the air.

Snape immediately noticed that his sea of fire was out of control, and the flames seemed to come to life, gradually converging together like rivers returning to the sea.

To everyone's surprise, the vast sea of fire and the rising tongues of flame in front of them began to shrink, gradually converging into an egg-like shape.

This flame-like egg quietly stopped in the center of the stage, appearing motionless.

However, from the rolling flames on the surface of the eggshell and the intense heat that could be felt from a distance, everyone knew the surface of this egg was dangerously hot.

Even Snape, as the opponent, nervously watched the egg, ready to react to any changes.

Suddenly, cracks appeared on the surface of the egg, as if it were about to break.

No, it was really going to break.

With the eggshell, carrying sparks, falling to the ground, a phoenix made entirely of flames emerged.

She flapped her wings, and the young wizards under the stage could feel the scorching heat even several meters away.

The phoenix soared into the air, circling above the stage. The sharp-eyed Professor McGonagall recognized this type of bird.

"This is a phoenix! He actually used Transfiguration to turn fire into a phoenix!"

She exclaimed loudly, recalling seeing this beautiful creature in Dumbledore's presence.

The phoenix circled in the air for two rounds, and then, facing Snape, launched an attack.

It spread its wings and dived towards Snape's direction.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Alaric also launched an attack on Snape with his wand.

Facing such a two-pronged assault, Snape could only awkwardly dodge.

He had to find a way to deal with the phoenix in front of him, or with his agility, failure would be only a blink away.

He quickly raised his wand and shouted, "Serpensortia!"

The wand's head exploded, and a huge black snake suddenly burst out from it, landing heavily on the floor.

Then, it raised its snake head, looking towards the phoenix, ready to attack.

The phoenix immediately turned its attention to the black snake, constantly circling above it, seizing the opportunity to dive down and inflict damage with its claws or sharp beak whenever possible.

The two magical creatures engaged in a fierce battle, while Snape focused on countering Alaric's threat.

The two began exchanging magic attacks again.

Now, the outcome of the battle surprisingly depended on the fight between magical creatures.

Phoenix and snake—the winner would be able to help their master.

In fact, in comparison, the result of the battle was already clear.

The giant black snake was a product of dark magic, not only powerful but also able to regenerate into multiple snakes even when cut.

Ordinary wizards were completely no match for it.

However, now it faced an exceptionally strong opponent—the phoenix.

Not only could it fly, but it was entirely composed of flames. Every peck or grab it made on the black snake burned a large area of its skin, emitting a charred smell.

The black snake dared not attack the phoenix because of the incredibly high temperature on its surface.

Biting it would mean having its mouth roasted first, let alone attempting the classic snake binding attack.

Thus, the situation was completely one-sided, and the black snake was continuously on the defensive, sustaining heavy blows.

"Ah, I miscalculated." Snape, who had been keeping an eye on the battle, could only grit his teeth at this point.

He didn't want to support the black snake with magic, but every time he attempted to act, Alaric would timely accelerate the pace of his attacks, making it challenging for Snape to keep up.

Seeing his opponent's calm demeanor, Snape had already realized that Alaric was just delaying him, waiting for the outcome on the other side.

Under constant attacks, the black snake was covered in wounds, and its body was charred everywhere.

However, with its enormous size, it still retained some fighting power.

The phoenix clearly didn't want to drag things out any longer.

After inflicting another wound on its opponent's back, it changed its attack pattern, ignoring the damage to the black snake and ramming it with its body.

At this point, the black snake no longer had the ability to dodge the phoenix's frontal impact.

The next moment, it seemed like it was hit by an incendiary bomb, bursting into flames all over its body.

In the midst of its struggles, the flames eventually consumed the black snake entirely.

Following that, the flames contracted again, finally reverting to the appearance of a phoenix.

The victory was clear; the phoenix ultimately defeated the black snake.

Most of the young wizards around cheered, especially the Gryffindors who had long held a grudge against Snape.

Seeing him losing to a second-year wizard was a pleasant surprise for them.

The phoenix let out a cry and flew to Alaric's side, appearing ready to launch an attack on Snape at any moment.

Snape immediately became tense, as if facing a formidable enemy.

He shook his wand, casting a curse at Alaric, then raised his wand and chanted incantations. It was evident that he was brewing some powerful spell.

Alaric knew this was Snape's final move.

He had to interrupt Snape before he cast his spell; otherwise, he had no idea what Snape could come up with.

Some sinister dark magic was difficult even for him to handle.

So, with a wave of his left hand, the phoenix immediately rushed up, swallowed the splitting curse aimed at Alaric, and then flew high.

Only then was it shattered by the splitting curse.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Alaric shot a Disarming Charm at Snape.

Snape, who was planning to use dark magic, was hit by the Disarming Charm.

His wand was immediately knocked away, but his dark magic didn't stop—due to the interference of the Disarming Charm, this magic completely went out of control.

A massive explosion occurred where he stood, and Snape himself was knocked unconscious by the blast.

Many small snakes flew out during the explosion, and the surroundings of the stage seemed like it was raining snakes. The wizards present their panicked and scattered.

Most of the small snakes didn't fly too far, but one of them happened to fly near Fletchley, startling him as he repeatedly retreated.

"Let me handle this!" Lockhart shouted.

He raised his wand, brandishing it threateningly at the snake.

Suddenly, with a loud bang, the snake not only didn't disappear but bounced more than a yard high and fell heavily back to the floor.

Furious, it hissed, spitting venom straight towards Fletchley. Then, it raised its head, revealing its fangs and taking an attacking posture.
