Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Leaving us three only, my grandma takes out her locket watch.

"It's almost time." Hearing her say that Charlotte and I look at her weirdly. "Time for what 'ma?"

"Well, it's time for you two to receive your acceptance letter. Let's say... I went out of my way to make these pesky owls deliver them later and for them to accept you two well before the cutoff date."

"Owls and cutoff dates?" Waving off what I asked, she points to the sky, and an owl swoops right down to us with letters in its beak.

"This is what I meant by owl and letter, as for cutoff. Let's say you two were meant to get these letters a lot earlier, but I did some things for you two to get this the day the other kids left... it'd have been more to have it delivered on your two actual birthday, but we already celebrated it a day early so..."

"Yeah, but what's this letter for?" When I asked about that, she told me to open it and read it.

Looking at it, the red seal stamp says "Hogwarts" with their design, which seems to have animals on it.

When opening the letter, the first piece of paper has my name and some words, and the second has a list of the equipment.

"HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY"

"Dear Mr Mourning,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The enclosed list of all the necessary books and equipment is available.

Term begins on the first of September.

Yours Sincerely

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmaster"

Looking at the letter, Charlotte and I compare our letters.

Noticing that we have the same things written, we both smile. "Well, at least you're not more special or anything, right Charlotte?" Making a lame joke, she responds with her own.

"I feel like you would be the special one, right?" We both laughed at what she said.

After getting the letters, we go back inside the Mansion.

Going into our rooms, I grab my notebook while Charlotte grabs multiple books.

"We got a letter to this magic school. I'm pleased." Hearing that, I clicked my tongue. Going to this school is not going to be that fun. And the fact she was pleased about going to this school irks me more. As we walked back downstairs, I clicked my tongue at her and rolled my eyes.

At the table, Charlotte gets a bunch of small note paper to avoid losing her progress.

At the table, Charlotte began to read the books my grandma gave us. "I feel like this is very exciting! We get to go to a magic school with other magical kids!" Hearing her shout that while flipping through the book, I smirk.

"Yeah, well, I bet some of those kids are bullies, though."

She started glaring at me. "And? There's always some bullies, you know." Making a softer expression, she suddenly looks at me with pity. "You won't get bullied if that's what you're worried about."

I responded, "Oh, shut up. You'd get bullied there." She laughed at my comment, and I got annoyed by it.

"What's so funny?" Asking her that, I glare a little bit.

"Your joke was funny..." Clapping back instantly, "Joke?" "Yeah, joke." Staring at each other, we bust out laughing.

"In all seriousness, though, the kids will probably be spoiled."

Tapping on her book, she thinks to herself for a little bit. "Hmm, why do you say that?"

"Well... I mean, won't some of the kids that were born in magic society be rich?" When I asked her this, she stopped reading.

"You're right, actually; well, it's whatever."

Saying this, she hands me the notes from the tutoring we had earlier.

"Let's study this some more. I want to be more prepared next time we have one." Nodding at her, I took out the very few notes I wrote.

Studying what we learned in the small tutoring session, I only knew that it was boring.

Soon enough, I stopped paying attention as much, and Charlotte started imitating hand gestures.

"Look here. This charm changes into a jinx when you swish your hand this way." Looking at the action, she tries to see how each spell differs.

Listening to and looking at Charlotte's enthusiasm, I look at her with boredom. "Charlotte, we can't even do spells; we don't even have a wand. We can only do like one at most. So why care so much?" Saying that to her, she looks up from her book and looks at me like I'm a stupid idiot or killed her dog.

"Be quiet." Hearing her say this, I try to respond with a joke, but nothing comes out.

Looking at her exaggeratedly, I said, "Yes, ma'am." Shutting my mouth, I watched her enjoy the magic books my grandma gave us without bothering her.

Soon enough, she compares each book to see how the dark arts differ from regular charms.

Looking at her enjoying herself, I realize that magic learning is boring to me- at least, this form of it is.

Thinking about what to do, I soon remembered I could use occlumency.

I got in a comfortable position in my chair; what I mean is that I put my head down on the table.

Closing my eyes, I practice my Occlumency. Losing focus on what's around me, my mind begins racing.

I see a blue sky, grass, and a tree in the middle when I enter my mindscape.

Feeling the soothingness of this, I changed some of my mind. Instead of the blue sky, I change it into a night sky.

After doing that, I recall what my grandma taught me. That was the first layer of my mind. Within the first layer, I can detect if someone is trying to enter my mind. After practicing detecting fake intent, I soon realized I could put fake thoughts and memories in my first layer. Soon enough, I began to organize my memories into different columns.

"Wanya."

I hid away most of the memories I didn't want deep within my mind. I kept the memories I wanted to see and the ones that made me happy. Some of the memories I didn't wish to have were when I slipped on the stairs, my ice cream crashed onto the floor, and I started crying.

"WANYA!" Getting shaken up out of my thoughts, I quickly sort through my memory one more time and open my eyes. Looking at Charlotte, she seemed a little annoyed.

"What's wrong?" Confused, she motions towards the window.

"It's late, and it's been hours. And you have been here basically sleeping."

Looking outside the window, it's already dark outside.

"Well, I wasn't sleeping; I was practicing."

"Let me fix what I meant; you spent hours "meditating." Our real birthdays are about to happen tonight; we still have to celebrate it with what we have done for the past few years."

Forming a lousy expression, "Why do I have to go outside tonight? Go alone."

Sighing at my comment, she tells me to be ready.

Nodding at her, I realized it was easier not to complain or fight against it. I prepared for a tradition we usually have. Since we celebrate our birthdays a day early, we typically go into the forest to look at the stars on our actual birthdays around midnight.

Switching into flexible clothes, I climb out my window. And I meet Charlotte.

"Why do we have to do this every year?" Still not letting go, I complain about it again.

She takes my hand and starts to walk. "Because I like doing it, and it's more fun with you."

Walking with her, we soon make it to the forest.

Walking further inside, the ambiance of the forest turns magical the further we go in.

Finally, getting to a point, we look up at the stars.

Seeing all the stars, we look at each other and wish each other a happy birthday.

I took out a hidden present I had for her: a rose. "Since you said you wanted flowers for your birthdays," Kissing me on my cheek, I frown. "EW, don't do that ever again."

Hearing me say that, she laughs. "Yeah, yeah, girls are scary, boo."

Laughing, she walks back alone, leaving me alone for a second or two.

"Wait for me, Charlotte!" Hearing me, she looks back and smirks. Then, begin to break out in a run.

Smiling, I chase after her.

Sneaking back inside, we spent more time together and decided to start writing in a notebook for our magic. (Editor: Y'all thought he was about to write some magical adventure, didn't y'all?)

Soon, morning comes, and my grandma prepares us both to enter the wizarding world and get our supplies from the list.

When I introduce other characters, I think I'll write about their thoughts under the actual chapter.

Example:

-

Wanya: Yeah, and magic is fucking useless unless I'm able to bomb people with it.

Charlotte: Yeah, and magic is only useful when I stop Wanya from trying to bomb people with it.
