CHAPTER 3: REJUVENATION

Awake at last. Can't believe that crazy author actually let me sleep for 3 days. I have recovered all my memories, not like there was much about my life to remember. I discovered food is no longer required for my survival, I have more than enough energy now. I'm on top of a tall building thinking, I have money, I don't need love right now and I probably have latent abilities, what now? What do I do now? I'm definitely not becoming a superhero of any sort. I'm not that guy. I guess I'll just do whatever I want, for the pleasure of it. Guess I'll start by jumping off this building to test my abilities. It's like magic, but it's science, I've been genetically enhanced from the cellular level. After jumping off the building a second time, I did not hit the ground. I'm actually flying, and there are sparks under my feet. I've always wanted to be able to fly. I just landed in front of a gym. It's 2AM in the morning. Nobody's in here, why is it open though? but who cares, I feel like I'm extremely strong. I walked into the gym and benched 600lbs, it felt like a piece of paper, it was so boring. I flew around the city of Jacksonville, Florida and whilst flying I spotted a race track. You know exactly what I thought. I decided to forget flying and test my speed. I ran around a 400m track 378 times under a second. Luckily I'm smart enough so my brain can keep up. I'm beyond fast now. It seems so unreal, my mental and physical capacities. I'm sure I have other abilities which I'll discover when the time comes. I flew home slowly, not caring if I would be spotted or not. Turns out I was spotted, by a lady with a jetpack, yes, jetpacks exist here. She started flying towards me and I just watched her. She finally approached me and said "great! I finally found you" and I said "you work with MDA at their main base?" and she wondered how I knew that. Turns out I can read minds but she doesn't have to know so to take her mind off it, I asked for her name and she said "Nia Charles" I said "okay Nia, what do you want from me? She said she was asked to retrieve me by the people at the base. I said she should fuck off and she asked do I think I'm the only one like this? She said I didn't even know the half of what exists in this universe. I then thought "for the sake of finding the truth, I should follow her" I'm not the type to brag so I decided to limit the number of abilities I show off.

I said to her "okay whatever, when do we leave?" she said by tomorrow she would come with a jet to pick me up. I gave her my address and she flew off. I got an exhilarating feeling, the feeling that I was going to know and discover, like I had been Rejuvenated.

The next day came by quickly and above my house was a sonic jet. Before Nia even tried to knock I was outside and she was shocked. Nia always wore a black spandex suit, looking like some kind of agent, but I sensed something odd about her so I looked through her clothes. I saw strange legs, far from human and I thought "this journey will be interesting". Nia asked me to hop aboard the jet and I did just that. I looked at the cockpit and saw that the pilot had the head of a salamander. Nia told me not to freak out and I said that was never going to happen. I sat quietly, looking downwards through the whole flight. They didn't know I was looking at all the lands and seas we passed. It took us about 15 minutes to halfway fly across the earth till we landed on a strange yet large island. That island was never on any map of the world for all I knew. I found it interesting. In the seas surrounding the island I saw strange creatures, Nia said they were gotten from the Bermuda triangle, the sea of monsters and I laughed because I thought it was a myth from Greek mythology or something. I asked Nia to give me 30 minutes to look at the sea and observe the surroundings and she was cool with it. I jumped into the water holding my breath and closing my eyes, then I decided to stop holding anything back. I could see and breathe underwater. I saw different intriguing creatures, monsters never recorded in history books, 30ft long whales with spikes, krakens with arms that extend over 25ft and I just moved by them, I could communicate with them by feeling them. I could tell they had been around for ages. When I got enough of them I came out soaking wet, I took a step forward, faster than the water molecules and all the water separated from me and landed on the floor. Nia came and said it was time to go beyond the gates of the facility. I walked in and saw several buildings and structures, I saw some people flying, it looked like they were dueling with projectile attacks. Some were chimeras but more human-like, I saw some humanoids with artificial intelligence doing work, I saw children who had been enhanced, I saw teenagers and even adults who were genetically tampered with. They didn't look sad though. I hoverpad came to us and as we stepped on it, it took us to what Nia called the main building. We went inside, Nia said it was time to meet people in charge of the facility I technically destroyed. we entered a strange room and there was a table full of ten people with one lady at the center. She looked at me and said "are you the one?" and I was like "The what?" and she said "The one who destroyed my high-tech facility" and I said "that was an accident" she said fine, what's done is done. She asked me how I felt after the "accident " and I said I felt normal. She asked everyone else to give us the room. She began to explain everything including the purpose of the island. She said they were building an army that would rule and 'protect' earth from 'what was coming' she was definitely hiding a lot and trying not to think about it. She said she was to be addressed as warden Germa and I said I'm Harper. Germa then said "you are also a mancer, another one of our genetically enhanced and engineered soldiers and you will be kept here with the other mancers to train until we are ready to kick-off our plans". Germa said each soldier had two or three abilities which may differ and I wondered, "how come I have over five and many more to discover, are the others hiding their abilities too? Or am I different??" then she called Nia and asked her to send me to Doctor Geithner for an ability examination. We took a hover craft to Doctor Geithner, a lame looking old man with a cool tail and dark shades. They made me take off my clothes and attached sensors to my body. They confirmed that I could definitely fly, they tested my strength and I held back as usual, the said my strength was pretty average for a mancer and they tested my speed which they said was average as well. The sensors were to detect any latent projectile ability but I shut down the sensors so nothing would be observed. They said the had rankings ranging from A-Z, Z was the highest rank. I was ranked as an F, just below average and they took me to a dorm looking place but technologically enhanced, they put me amongst other F rankers who they said were made to train harder than the others and I said "alright then". When I was hovering in everyone stared for a moment before turning away. We all had different gadgets including a watch gadget that could be used to observe every mancer's rank and abilities. Mancers had to complete tasks to earn money but I was already a rich person lucky for me. I sat on my bed alone and others were in their cliques gossiping, but that's what super hearing is for. I heard them say so much boring trash that I decided to go outside and observe. I went to an area reserved for tournaments and watched two S ranked mancers battle each other, they seemed pretty weak to me. There I was, getting bored until this girl came to challenge me, she acted all nice but I went inside her head and discovered she was a K ranked mancer and just wanted to use me to boost her rank. She said her name was Rana, Rana de Darlene, she was light skinned and pretty cute, I said I'm Harper and I'd love to battle, she wanted to ask how I knew but all she cared about was a increasing her rank and it was set, in the next hour, I was going to fight Rana de Darlene in a knockouts match. The half empty stadium became full, a pretty large stadium, they all loved to see a new guy pummeled and I arrived, flying slowly into the arena, I didn't check her ability card to make it more fun. Though she checked mine and couldn't stop laughing even when she entered the arena. Lots of people in the crowd laughed too. I just stood there watching them till the AI announced arrived and said the one rule; no killing! And it said BEGIN!
