Hanging Waters

go about our daily lives thinking about what to eat, what to do, where to go, what to wear and so on, doing our jobs and trying to make ends meet; most times things do not go as we plan, so what do we do? We sleep. You see; sleep is that reset button that we mentally create for ourselves, “tomorrow is another day” we say “I’ll give it another shot, I’ll try again” we always know we can count on tomorrow, it is what gives some hope, for a few they pray tomorrow never comes maybe because they know they’re going to die or that debt they owe and know the creditor will come for the next day or that student that child that is so worried about the bully they know awaits their arrival in the academy, while others just cannot wait because they’re turning legal, they’re getting that new car, moving to college or graduating. It’s all good but pause for a second! What if tomorrow never comes, what if the time stops at 11:59 and the hand of the clock refuses to go further? What if the darkness of the night refuses to go away? What if the sun refuses to rise? What then?! I guess you’ll never know all you can do is imagine and when it gets too scary you quit imagining' Well I am from a place where dark is the day, the sun is the tornado that my people run away from, and the waters are above us and beneath is null, emptiness and void, I am Nayona of the Planet Owases and this is the story of my people or the way I see from my perspective. Few years ago there was a loud noise in the waters above there was a great light, it kept getting brighter and brighter, there was chaos and a quake I ran towards Lila my sister but before I could grab her a force pulled us apart and I found myself on this planet; earth. I do not know how I got here but I intend to go back to my people and know what happened with hopes of finding my Ini.

Well I am from a place where dark is the day, the sun is the tornado that my people run away from, and the waters are above us and beneath is null, emptiness and void, I am Nayona of the Planet Owases and this is the story of my people or the way I see from my perspective.

It is a beautiful place-Owases inhabited by the Gorahs. The different factions are the Andremadons –the low borns, a happy faction, always satisfied with the little they have, their habitat is the Garries a few of them get selected each quarter year to join the high pay unit where the lucky ones get to upgrade their status to the Cassipeans but a few Cassipeans still look down on them. The Cassipeans – the middle class, they have big shares in the high pay unit, they live big and can be callous in nature. The Panderans- the bearers, by nature these factions are humble, they are more like the holy ones, monks some humans call them; they hand out offspring to predecessors for in Owases the three Stellas- Aora, Pholia, and Migas create offspring for predecessors.

My faction- Rionases, from what I was told, after the creation of the planets the creator appointed the Rionase to be the clan of rulers; most of us are ruthless and vicious in nature, unchanging and unbending the Stellas deliver offspring that show outstanding abilities such as I; I can manipulate matter of any sort with my mind and in my anger everything within my sight gets decimated without any form of physical contact, my predecessors Ilhi and Yuna made me train under an elder Panderan to put my abilities in submission to my will.

Every faction has an insignia crested on the left of their chest and behind their right limbs. We all live happily and respectfully in the dark, our eyes glow for that way we can identify with one another, each Gorah has a unique glow, in the waters above lie the creatures, wonderful every one of them swimming in radiance, and above the waters lies the abode of the Stellas. The old say whenever there is a bright light in the waters above shelter should be sought for with the light come the terrors; it is one of the mysteries the offspring like to play about. Another mystery is what lies beyond the emptiness, I heard a Gorah once fell into the emptiness and never returned it had become a scary tell that was told to offspring to keep them away from the deep...

"Nayora mala kanah ijora fili in si" (Nayora, I ssw another one it's happening again) Lila called out in Ankha the general language of the Gorahs she had a vision. Lila had the ability to see things before they happened she was given as a gift to our predecessors for their generous donations towards the improvement of the Garries, I went towards her with anxiety in my eyes for I had hoped it was something positive this time, she had been getting strange visions of a great light she called the light of The vanishing "Yor marf ik si domi kanah galkanesh?"(is it the same as before?) I asked "I am scared Nayora, I feel I am being called" she grasped on to me "Was it the light again?" she shook her head in disagreement "It was something else; it was as a council, they discussing my judgement" "Judgement? No one is going to judge you on my watch Isk turish maler grish"(till my last strength) I swore, trying to sound convincing. Mogo the Panderan had suggested that it was her abilities that were fiddling with her, I took her into the Trusk(mansion is what humans call it) the feast was ready and guests were arriving. Every evening Yuna made it tradition to make a feast for the Andremadons to feed those she could and entertain their offspring, she loved a full house. Ilhi was in attendance but could not take his eyes off Mori, a Cassipean, she was a seductress and an ill tempered one at that getting the attention of Ilhi had always been her unaccomplished agenda because Lila and I always knew how to outsmart her. Our Ini or as humans call it-family was the most envied of the Rionases, Ilhi was wealthy enough to own the entire Owases, Yuna was the desire of every Gorah in all aspects her beauty was said to have been caused by the tears of Aora during her formation which brought about her perfection and I was the emblem of the Ini they called me unique, but the dark secret was that Ilhi could never bring himself to believe that the most desired of every Gorah was his, he kept insisting that there were other sources from which she got her happiness and he needed to get his own peace of mind too. She on the other hand never really seemed to care seeing others happy was her joy and pride, seemed like she never got jealous, she knew her union was cursed but she lived her curse just fine, there were times Ilhi would cause a ruckus and threaten to obliterate her but she would give a smile and walk away, deep down I wanted to mature into perfection as she did.

To be continued…
