Jiya's eyes opened after fluttering a little. The light was dim. She tried to remember what happened. She was sitting with the old man and he was saying to save his brother. And then..... then she passed out.!?
She woke up to find herself in a strange room. She looked around and sighed in relief. Her friend was there. She called out her name in a low voice. "Neha."
The girl sitting on a chair in some distance turned around slowly. "You are awake?"
Jiya was ready to get down when she was stopped by something. That thing looked like a hand? She looked up and saw that her friend who was sitting around ten feet away from her was stopping her from getting down the bed by her hand. Her hand was so..... long. She stretched her hand.....
Jiya looked up in horror. Her face had lost color. First she lost his brother and now her friend wasn't her friend. She jumped down the bed. The girl got up and started to walk in her direction with a evil smile plastered on her face.
Jiya looked around her to search for something that she can throw at her. But there was nothing. The room didn't have anything else except for a bed, a chair and a table. She can use the chair to throw on that girl but it was in the opposite direction. She has to run. She has to get out if this place as fast as she could.
She struggled for fifteen minutes and then she finally found a breakthrough. She ran out if the room and closed a door immediately. She ran with all her might. She don't know what had happened. Everything was wrong in this place. She just ran for her life.
She got out of the house and found herself surrounded with the trees. Was this the jungle near the town that everyone was afraid of? She looked around and ran in the right direction. She don't know the way but she has to get far away from this place. Tears started streaming down her cheeks when she was running. She was all alone and scared to death. She kept running and running and running.
She started to lose her breath because of all the running. She stopped and leaned on one of the trees. She was out of breath. She sat down for resting a little. She leaned back on the trunk of the tree with closed eyes. She was catching on her breath. After a while her breathing started to slow down. Then she left a pain in her feet. It was only when the pain hit her that she realized that she was barefoot and had some cuts. Her feet was bleeding.
She wanted to move further and get out of this place but she was too tired. Her body had lost all the energy and she couldn't continue to move further. But she can't stand here. She has to get up and at least start walking again if not running.
She was motivating herself when she heard some noises.
"Ewwwww....."
"Eww..."
"Ewwww....."
"Ewwwwwww"
Her body stiffened when that noise reached her ears.
She used all the remaining energy in her body and pushed herself up. She couldn't stop herself from looking in the direction of the noise. She turned around and froze.
Zombies...
What were zombies doing here?
Her white frock was damped in sweat. She looked in front of her and only saw a bunch of walking corpses coming towards her. The sound that they were making were sending chills to her spine. She was exhausted but she had to save herself or else she will definitely die in the hands of these dumb-headed zombies.
She ran again with all her might. She turned around and find them behind her. Weren't zombies slow? Then why were they behind her when she was running at such a speed? She wasn't running too fast but at least she was running at a speed that can leave those brainless zombies back. Then why? Why were they at such a near distance?
She kept on running and then she was the only one who was running between those still trees in darkness.
She then bumped into someone or may be something.
She tilted her head upward to look and her face brighten. "Kartik?"
He didn't say anything but gave a smile. She was happy then the tears gushed out of her eyes. She started crying. She hugged him and kept on wailing.
"Where were you? You know Neha...." She had so much to say but wasn't able to bring out all the words.
Then Kartik started moving and Jiya followed him with tears still flowing down her cheeks. After sometime she calmed down a little and started talking about Neha. At last she said how Neha stretched out he hand.
".... You know she was sitting so far from me. She was about ten feet away from me but then she did her hand like this.... you know... like this" Jiya even stretched her own arms to demonstrate "... and then her hands came to me ten feet away. Her arms stretched so long." She said in horror and with a bit of amusement in it.
Kartik stopped and turned towards her and said, "Really?"
Jiya nodded her head like a rattle.
Kartik's lips curved up and he stretched out one of his arms and asked, "Like this?"
Jiya saw her brother's arm and shrieked.
